I don't know who came up with this quote for the TEC Rebel titan, but it still makes me laugh when I hear it. Two thumbs up to the clever mind who wrote that line.

It's no secret. People ban the Vasari rebels because of the mobile starbases. The funny thing? The race with the best counter to the mobile starbase is.....you guessed it. The Vasari. Specifically I'm getting a phase missiles and their ability to focus fire a target. I'm not 100% sure, but to make things even more amusing, I think the VR get the unique phase missile upgrade that increases missile damage even more.

I should clarify, I'm talking about multiplayer. I understand that in single player it fits with the vasari lore. I don't have a problem with that, but stripped to the core can destroy a multiplayer match. Here's a very simple metaphor to explain why the stripped to the core tech is wrong. Imagine if we were playing chess. Imagine if I move my queen to take your bishop. Not only did I just take your bishop, but now, you're not allowed to move onto any of the bl

I don't really have a problem with a strong defensive unit. If the starbase couldn't dominate, then what's the point of the thing? My concern is more that the unit can be "spammed", i.e. one in every gravwell. One of the main problems people have with sins is the game is quote on quote "slower". Starbases only worsen that problem. It's ironic, because I actually prefered the olden days without quick start and with fast as the default speed. The game was

I've been checking into the game frequently hoping the game would be patched. Rebellion had me so disgusted for a while there that I gave up on multiplayer and went to single player. The AI won't exploit the game, but a person will. I've always enjoyed the chessmatch that is multiplayer sins. I would still argue the best version was the original before entrenchment came out (more on that later). I've been playing with each faction trying to figure out the

It was very refreshing to get my fill of Sins again, but a week of playing has reminded me why I left. They say if you don't like the balance of a game, don't play it, so that's what I'm going to do. Nice seeing you all again, but I'm outta here. Raging Amish

Turn off quickstart. You'd be amazed how much differently the game plays. I've heard many newer players say they don't like the rush mentality of the online scene. This is fair in my opinion. Sometimes, it feels like you get rushed before the game even begins. If you'd like to slow the game down a bit, at least in the first 15-20 minutes, the answer is simple. Turn off quickstart.

Believe me, I'm flattered, but there are plenty of folks out there who are better than me. I'm still looking for an early game answer to the corvette spam. I don't like fighting rock with rock, and flak only works to a point. With time, we'll figure something out.

It's been a while since I posted on the forums. I saw rebellion was coming out and it frankly excited me. I'm glad I've purchased the game as I can clearly see the devs got their creative juices flowing, but still....... The game has some balance issues. Here goes nothing, in no particular order: -Corvettes- The Good: I like the idea. These are essentially fighters on steroids. The

Good to be back. Thanks Volt. I had you saying it was very light and someone else saying light. Can't argue with the coding. Will I leave? Not for a while, but I probably won't play as much as I did once upon a time. I'm more of a Call of Duty nut nowadays.

Straight and to the point, what's the armor type on the corvette? I know the ships do composite damage, but the armor has to be (Ok, I logically think it can be) Light or VeryLight. So which is it?
What about for TEC? Is it worthwhile to rush tradeports, or is that something that can wait until I have 4+ planets?
Hey minwanabi. Maybe you remember me. Maybe you don't. I remember you though, and boy has this game changed, at least online. Going tradeports very very early if there's an enemy next to you gets you killed, and people are reeeeally rushing nowadays. Before you had time to react. Now there is no time. You have to be quick on your feet. People are

Aaaaaah, TYPO, navigators blow Personally, when I play as Vasari, my answer lately has been get the Egg early. If you see the opponent bringing seekers/disciples, get a devastator if he has a mothership, a carrier cap IF you see a halcyon ( you need something for the bombers/fighter). That works, but it lends itself to heavily defensive play. The hits your eco takes by getting caps when you really can't afford them is too much, and you will probably be pushed back a bit before
btw, why wasn't Amish/Darvin included there somewhere?
Because we're the guys who are known for being book smart. Darvin and I fall into the category of know just about everything there is to know, but in terms of experience, we don't have as much as others just cause we don't play as much. A lot? Well....once upon a time I was the JJ, and Cykur was my Tyrs, but not anymore.
No I didn't. You're assuming every game will yield neutrals somewhere near your vasari starting position which is not always the case. Some games, heck, by the time you locate any neutrals your seeker spam opponent may already be sitting on it. In addition, why is regular start somehow a counter to seeker spam? It isn't. In fact, playing as advent the first 10-15 minutes on normal start I have no problem building a frigate factory and cranking out the seeker
but 1v1 your opponent will still choose advent 90% of the time.
I actually prefer TEC. In 1v1 random maps, you have enough time before first contact that you can get a small trade line up and just completely own your opponent with a better eco. Sure, those Illums are annoying, but in 1v1 I've found a mix of flak, lrms, a high level Akkan seem to do the trick. 1v1 random is about exploiting eco more than your opponent early so you can overwhelm him when you two actually
I'm going to have to disagree with those who mentioned turning off quick start as an option to dealing with this. No, that simply will not work. In the few online games I've been in with it turned off, and when I go against a couple of unfairs in single player with it turned off and I play as advent, I can still spam seekers...and remember I'm not as good as others. The only difference is it takes me about another 10 minutes to get the spam going; that will make absolutely no differ

This is a petition to the devs to do something about smurfing. I'm the definition of a hypocrite when I say that I want smurfing gone, yet that I use it plenty myself. Now, I won't jump the gun and say that the answer is to limit everyone to just one profile. I will just say that I'm making this post because I want anyone who agrees at least with the notion of limiting smurfing in some way. I'll add decent suggestions as people add them. I'll also be adding names as people post.

25 Replies 56,948 Views

Jesus Grey. I don't know if it's that everyone smurfs or the community got bigger, but I don't recognize most of the names online anymore. To be clear, I pull out the main if I see a room full of people I actually recognize, but if I'm in a room where I recognize no one. Usually, it means: a. They're all smurfs an when in Rome.... b. They're all newbs. I'm gonna win anyway. You're taking the anti-smurfing position a bit too seriously my friend. There's arguing for
