do we agree?
Yes. I will say at least with this strat (and several others in the game), the only real answer is experience. The in-game info cards lie to you (scouts are strong against none? really?) and in-game practice will show how ineffective some of the counters are. Personally, I do my best to help people who are lookin for it. I try to save them the pain I went through of being the newb. Hence my advice for countering the light frig/scout rush.
Just because you CAN do something does not make it right to do so.
It is just a game, so I don't really feel like smurfing is wrong. That being said, I'm not going to deny myself possible advantages purely because it's the "moral high road". In real life, sure. In a game I play for fun (and to win), not a chance. That being said, I would still prefer a world where no one can smurf, but unless the devs do so, I don't plan to stop.
Ah. Smurfs. I've got 400+ on my main. 150+ on my DT Raging amish tag. 70+ on two other smurfs. and 10+ on a new one I'm working on. And I've got two with 70+ that I have since given up. It's a shame when I think about it. I could have all of those on one main. My point? Keeeiiiillll the smurfing. It needs to die. Just like the Illum bug.
Already tried last night - failed. The reason? Bitchslap of doom. In the chatroom after, the seeker/disciple spammer said he considered the halcyon to be OP.
I'm sorry, but I'd really like to see your replay. I've never lost in a 1v1 to a light frig/scout rush...provided my opponent wasn't fed out the wazoo. Once I see it coming I get a second frig factory, churn out a second cap as soon as possible, and start pumping out light frigs. Sure I may have to back off from
For Vasari, I'd say a two cap start, possibly three. You can forget navigators, and seekers rape assailants. Forget flak. Skirmishers will make good support, but won't turn the tide. I'd say a Devastator start with a Skirantra support would do it. He won't be able to kill anything and your skirantra will produce fighters forcing him to make fighters too. An orky also stops the strat hard. Problem is a lot of people don't like doing that strat, but if you can sneak an o
RagingAmish will correctly say "just counter with all LF, you dummy" (which will work for everyone except the red-headed stepchild of the game - the vasari).
I did say to add in a carrier cap too (Sova is best, Halcyon is great, Skirantra aint too shabby either against this strategy)
is it time to reduce the nerf on RA?
Yes! Give me advantages no one else has!
RA is fine IMO
I'm flattered but unless you're a darvina and not a darvin, my back door doesn't swing that way. Moment of seriousness, biggest issues to me are: Vasari doesn't really have a solid non-starbase non-capital ship answer to Illums. This is a mix of a weak scout and a bugged Illum. The light frig is also pathetic, or at
hat initial rush phase of the game is one thing
I'll rephrase. It's quick start. I still don't like it. I still prefer no quick start, but good luck finding a game online where more than 2 people will actually play with it. People tend to think no quick start means hours added to the game. WRONG. Like maybe fifteen to 25 minutes tops.....a window during which Vasari actually plays out fairly balanced (this is a big part of why Vasari is so imbalanced now, it used to be
Slower speeds? That's sacrilege!
No. That's fun. Am I the only person who hates that Sins is getting faster?
I like the post. I'm surprised how much people are sticking up for the Kol though. Look at the multiplayer scene from the grand scheme. There is agreement that the Kol isn't all that useful until level 6, and you know what? I don't find it useful unless linked with a level 6 dunov. The dunov is awful as a starting cap for so many reasons in it's own right. Getting the Kol/Dunov nine times out of ten will get you killed online. Ok....will get you killed provided you're playing a compet
The game has changed significantly. The oldest players (and this is off the top of my head) who are still around are Myself, Cykur, Howthe?, Tyr, P5yy, Astax, and Whippersnapper. To be honest with you, I really don't remember JJ when the game first came out. I'm not saying he wasn't there. I just don't remember him. The initial group of elites was Cykur, Myself, Violator666 (since retired), Howthe?, P5yy, Con, basically the original DT members ( so if I've missed a few don't chew me o
Here you had me thinking you were announcing a sequel or were actually going to make a third expansion. Grrrrr.
Hawk. I love ya. But this is starting to sound like borderline KOK.

75 karma and more knowledge of sins than the rest of you combined. Not the game mind you. Real life sins against god :P
I fought a human who didn't use repulse. Just got Illlums, Illums, and more Illums. It's not a bad idea in theory. Just get shear amounts of DPS to crush. He had 100 Illums and a progen/halcyon and like 8 guardians. This was Berzerker. You know what I did? 200 Scouts. 50 LRMs. 20 Hoshis. I had to leave the Akkan and Marza behind. I hate Illum spammers. I hate people who abuse repulse. The only thing I can say is thankfully repulse isn't as effective as it used to be (still damn good).
best out of 3
That'd probably work. You've definitely peaked my attention. I'll be lookin for replays.

I'm going to assume you mean the Illum Heavy fleet. Well, here's what comes my mind. 1. Never, ever, build carriers. Not only can Illums chase them down, All the guy has to have is a few flak or a halcyon and your carriers just became dead weight in your fleet. 2. Try an Akkan with LRMS if you're fighting repulse. The Akkan gets the range bonus ability, and provided it's high level, (it's always my first cap of choice), it should have armistice so you'll never lose it. Keep it
make an name like Army of Scouts
Dibs on that smurf!
Maps shall be premade (from sanchez or astax) and agreed upon by both parties.
That doesn't exactly guarantee a fair match. The randomness of mines and pirates could pretty easily tilt the scales in one player's favor or the other. In a match as intense as you're asking for, the smallest advantage is going to be exploited.
People simply get bored of a game that to be honest wasnt best designed for online multiplayer sessions
Ya know. I would agree with that. But one of the fraisers threw out a stat when entrenchment came out which was something along the lines of they had sold over 500,000 copies of sins, and that 75,000 had come online at one point or another. Now I know a large contingent of that pool lost interest, but I have a hard time believing that having a consistent pool of say 2
Well, in all fairness, the majority of players, even in sin's smaller player pool, are individuals not playing with personal friends. They wait and wait for a game to pop up only to get booted from it, so yeah, I could understand how that could be maddeningally frustrating. However this is probably more or less the dinkleberry on top of the crap sunday that was and always has been ico's online support for sins.
I'm a little surprised this debate went so long. The idea should be 1. If you're going Eco get a trade line going 2. If you are lucky enough to be TEC/Vasari and find a planet with 3+ phase lanes that is connected to 8+ mines, you should get some refineries there too. You can argue and argue about the little details, but the end result shows that getting trade ports in a line or a refinery in an ideal spot has good payoff.
though why he wants to keep slumming with the easy Advent option is a mystery
Psssst....I play TEC primarily as of late. Take away the bug on the Illumintaor, give it a 10% health nerf, give the seeker 10-20% health nerf, and all of a sudden Advent will seem a whole lot more balanced.
