Well, I think the best answer I have is that starbases are good against anything. Specifically I'm talking about Vasari SB. The only thing starbases have to worry about are bombers and anti-module ships. I guess what matters here is do yo usee starbases as a blanket counter or the lone tactic the Vasari have that will put a bulwark in front of the Illum wave that's going to come. I feel like we argue over semantics. Maybe that's just me.

See, Deciever, now here's the wierd thing about the Akkan. Getting mines instantly is actually a pretty signifcant econ boost. I don't think I'd say it's as much as the discounts Advent gets, think about it. Say the ability is adjusted so that it's 1,2, 4 extractors. It takes what, a minute? for an e xtractor to be built? Imagine going straight into a grav well with four mines, but you have a level 5 akkan. You go straight in, and get an instant 2 metal per second boost to your econ.</p

For the record I liked that. It made it so that people actually had to defend the neutrals. If I could force the devs to bring back one thing of old, it would be that. It would bring a semblance of balance to neutrals.

Well, I can give you a run down of how I play as TEC. First off, keep the Marza! The way I tend to expand is as follows. Buy the extractors ( i think that's what you meant when you refered to refineries. I will buy 100 crystal, sell 200 metal, and then I will buy the population upgrade for the homeworld. Also, scrap the cap ship factory after you build the marza. It's worth it. I actually tend to get two logistics labs to start. This is because the Marza can clear all
So it's not the Starbase that's an Illum Spam counter. It's a Starbase Rush that in not swiftly countered by illum spam. I find it a difference.
The starbase rush is an Illum counter on smaller maps. Basically, the idea is to get a starbase to THE critical planet that two people would be fighting over early. Get the starbase up quick and early, and you just took away a huge planet from your opponent. Outside of scout

Yeah, bad online support. Bad balance. We're all here because the game engine is magnificent, the devs totally blew us out of the water with the possibilities o this game, but have since left us with our thumbs up our asses. To play a balanced and fair game, it requires modding, and even more, to get graphics for a super computer you need to use other mods. It's a gigantic headache, because those who look to play against other people are left using a highly imbalanced game. It's not r

Actually, if you micro properly, TEC lrms can hit TEC and Advent starbases without ever being in range of even the third weapon that has the long range. Granted this requires an akkan with the range boost and micro to keep everything near the akkan, but it does work. It takes forever, but it works!

You're close Centurion. The Armor multiplier, at least the way I understand it, is this. 1/(1+X*.05) If a unit has two armor, that means the multiplier is .91, or that 91% of the damage that hits the hull (after going through shields and mitigation) will actually hit the hull. That's the way I understood it.

TBH I agree that repulse is currently OP, but I've been perplexed by how radically people want to change it. Sorry if what I'm about to say comes off as off-topic, but you just triggered my repulse speech. IT IS A COOL ABILITY. It's just been abysmally balanced. If you take a look, there is an activaiton antimatter charge and the ability eats a pretty decent amount of antimatter per second, so in theory it sounds balanced. Problem is it's a "channelling" ability to quote Stard

Take a look at the space station. Everything is cylindrical. If you made me guess, I'd say space ships will probably end up being shaped like the evacuator ( the space egg ). I say this because it's a round structure that's relatively flat that could store stuff.

Well, if we want to bring "personal outside opinions" into the mix, I've always had problems with the TEC ships. So many of them are boxy (Akkan, Dunov, carrier, kodiak, for examples). Boxy ships would never EVER be made in space. The force of the vacuum on a boxy structure creates stress concentraiton points. So really, the drone host has a cylindrical/spherical belly, which actually is a logical shape for in space. Advent caps also in general are composed of curves. So really they'v

_|~Uber - Overall Solid player. Heavily favors Vasari and has a full understanding of what it means to fight for the neutrals. Understands how to expand incredibably quick. Reliable when in the econ slot. Overall is a relatively new player, so his weakness is his fleet management. This isn't to say he's bad at this aspect, when in fact he is strong at this point. What this means is he lacks experience with managing the fleet, so you can catch him making rookie mistakes in micro management. A
Jam Weapons can save a whole fleet of heavy cruisers that is caught off guard without fighter/flak support against bombers. Just like that. You chain jam and the bombers do shit. It WORKS. You can wipe the floor with the carriers or get the f... outta there, but you saved your ass to fight another day, better prepared. Stabilize Phase Space does NOTHING unless you really spent a shitload of credits on some offroad techs in order to let it do something. You spent a gold mine

Well, to go on the "change the homeworld" theme, I've always despised that all of the races start on a Terran. Advent should start on a desert! Vasari should start on a lava! (to do this a homeworld lava would have to either be given the third pop upgrade [which i prefer] or give it 1-2 more mines since a alava doesn't give as much as a terran). Make it more like the ice planets and give it a third level of pop upgrade. The Vasari tech tree supports this, and I would like to submit th
A Marauder hits level 6. Without a phase stabilizer, it is useless. Yes Amish, you heard me. Without a gate or kostura (tier5 civ and tier8 mil respectively!, that's tons of credits dumped) this ability is USELESS. You have a problem with calling things useless, so here you go, something useless for you to admire
You build your fleet around your caps. Alone it is useless, yet would you ever bother to get this ability and not use it properly? I had to go digging ar

I do love it, but it'd be like if I had a ginger kid that I kept in the corner of the room. I don't give it that much love, but I keep it around because I'll need 'em one day, be it for an organ transplant or to fund my retirement account. Anywho, maruader uses: 1. Anti-Missile Barrage (Or anti-channeling): This to me is the most direct impact the Marauder brings. It's the ONLY hard counter to Missilbe barrage that the Vasari have. Also useful against a mothership abusing shie

Never said the marauder was great. It definitely blows as an anti-channeling cap, but the Vasari don't have anything else outside of hit the cap with nanite bombs and assailants quick enough to tkae it out before the MB gets in he right place to work.

64 Replies 131,076 Views

Yep. Forces the guy to get a marauder which is a weak ship in and of itself. Before N3Rull jumps on that statement ( i know you're out there ), that doens't make it useless! Pathetic? Sure. Useless? NAY!

64 Replies 131,076 Views

It's actually not too weak. It's also the ultimate support cap if you get it to level 6. Just a bitch to get it there since it doesn't quite pack the punch of the Marza.

64 Replies 131,076 Views

You're fooling yourself if you think 1.03 is balanced. Just putting that out there. I'm lookin forward to how this changes the game. Could be pretty dynamic. I just hope the requests for balance don't all on deaf ears. That's all.

Bombers get a 50% multiplier against heavy armor, so that doesn't help. If you wanted bombers to counter seige frigates and assault cruisers you would give them very heavy armor. At the moment, it looks like seige frigates do have the wrong armor type. They have light armor, when the in-game info card on the light frigates says that it's supposed to be good against seige frigates. At the moment, light frigs do anti-heavy. Seige frigs have light armor. Dunno if the devs did this intent
