guess i only played noobs then.
Drone hosts do nothing against LRMs. They are too feeble to stand against them and the strike craft isn't effective enough to act as a effective counter. Plus you won't ever be able to put out equal numbers compared to LRMs at the beginning of the game due to advents economy being poor. So you might have a few constructed but it won't be enough to act as a real counter.
arent both economies the same same in the beginning?

You dont even need the malice+brilliance combo. It works allready on tech 3 where you have illus, iconus, disciples and dronhosts + a mostership with shield regen.

if you dont have enough of them, you have been suprised cause you discovered to late that he is spamming lrms. doesnt that qualify for a suprise? so if you say he doesnt have enough, he has been suprised by it. yes i like strikecraft cause they are very versatile and fast. @redmaw, yeah that makes sense. Thus i always push the tech level to 3 right away. its not that expensive to get there. You need to combine units to make the best out of advents units. There is no ignorant

its hard to take out a lrm blob but you are not taking the dynamic of countermeasures into account. As soon as i start doing anything that the opponent has to counter, fighter/bombers for example he has to build defense vessels, thus less lrms. And personally i didnt find defense vessels very effective. Especially not against bombers, which can chew up caps quite fast. 4:1 is exaggerated. They seem to be a bit strong against fighters though. I dont know if a benefit or a disadvantage of ad

defense vessels against lrms. you guys are nuts. The problem is that cobalts + lrms counters anything Advent can produce, including disciples and defense vessels (obviously, i'm not taking into account HC's which counter everything - I'm simply talking early game) tihs is troll talk, absolutly untrue. LRMs are tech 2 thus advent has dronehosts but you need to got to iconus right away to defend the dronehosts against focus fire. Then it works. In 1.04 this doesnt matter

lemme say something to #111: Luckily, most Vasari players just doesn't seem to realize (or refuse to take advantage of) the fact that they can default to be defensive. So, even though I haven't made it explicitly clear, my main greviance with Returning Armada (with regards to the above) isn't the slight advantage a Vasari player gets by realizing that he can default to be defensive. But rather that I, as his opponent, is limited to play the game in a certain way if I want a realistic

@ maldon quoting you: Unfortunatly for your claim, it has been done, thus can be done, by everyone, if they could perform it correctly, if you can't play in a way to counter the effects, thats your own fault, it IS called a strategy game for a reason, and as for your claims as toward being "anecdotal evidence" I can't be sure as to what your reffering to, due to the fact that there are several definitions that could apply but don't really work in any case, thus Im going to assume

Guys, listen! You cant come here, make up a totaly biased example and build a argument on that. Everyone can say uhhh RA is not OP cause you actually had no trouble fighting the noob having it. Or : uhh RA is OP cause you suck at strategy and couldnt build a half decent game while the other guy just sat back and played simcity in space and kicked you away with his excellent eco and RA. Or : You mass a giant fleet against a vasari CPU and the say RA is not OP but dont know how its

@bubb9 == troll Its true that if he know about the RA he will not be able to sit back and and is kinda forced to attack. But this condition applies anyway to win the game. There is some kind of psychological element thought, the pressure of the "impending doom". That will have some effect. I cant see where you pointing me with your arguments. Maybe you are going to obselete my reasoning completely. In any case i want to highlight the core of my last post again. [I

Let me correct myself (about 180 degrees :) ). Yes it is that way for the target, but i wouldnt say it that way.

Nah, example: 50% mitigation, 100 damage a sec. 50 damages to the shields, 50 damage puff no effect cause of the mitigation. 33% shared means 33 of the 100 damage is taken away and put on the Iconus shields. The target actually beeing fired on would recieve 67 damage, reduced by shield mitigation of course, 33,5 damage to the shields. then the Iconus would take 33 damage, using his shield mitigation reducing the damage (lets say 20%) and then getting 26.4 to his shields. <br

Biasing it to the intelligent player, well thats still implies skill on that side and lack of skill on the other, basically a lack of brains somewhere. Thus i dont think delicate balance is possible, its more a illusion created by the lack of skill of the other player. You have the room to survive cause the opponent cant take you down for whatever reason. What i am thinking atm is the implication of RA coming into play if you go slowly towards it like you said. Isnt then the player tha

Its not 33% mitigation. That would be 33% damage reduction. Instead the Iconus absorbs 33% damage inflicted to any unit in the field with its own shields.

Where do you get 82% shield mitigation from?

Tested this out. It looks like Spirits are staying at the place the ship is destroyed. They can be picked up by a progenitor at the system of destruction and adjacent ones. If the spirits disappear after a while i dont know. The progenitor doesnt have to be present in the system or adjecent one at the time of the destruction.

@The_Regicide : hmmm wouldnt generalise here, depends who has more. if fought excatly this scenario. ~25 kodiaks backed up by ~12 hoshikos. Very hard to stop. The only real deal is to deplete the hoshikos antimatter.

Isnt it just like, a apple is called an apple cause the term just got assigned someday or evolved into it. Its just a word that you associate with something. If you give all the ship classes fantasy name you wouldnt really say this "Baram" class ship is to small compared to a "Rasam". Free yourself from these fixed associations and you expand your mind.

Advent counter is disciples with absorb antimatter, very effective.

Err, sorry Vanechka, actually i figured that someone else made this statement. It was actually JinxOfSin. In any case, your answer sparked some thought. Equal skill? Its a kinda wishy washy term isnt it. Just like to say that i wouldnt use "equal still" like "player A can equalise player B actions and vice versa". Well imagine this. if they are both making the best out of the planets (economy wise), one player goes into culture research and pushing to RA and the other

The deliverance engines effect is very distributed, thus it looks very weak. I think its still underpowered thought. * 15% damage bonus for my (friendly too?) ships in orbit. -- the effect doesnt last very long thought. * reducing allegiance of the planet, thus reducing income of the opponent. IF the engine goes up to 0.07% allegiance change its like 10% the other guy loses but it goes up again afterwards so he might lose 5% incone over time on that planet as long as the weapons h

These are some nice numbers... RA pays of really quickly. What about making the gates starting with 0 antimatter? That would give opponents more time to react. Whats the total cost of all research and gates, id like know and see how far i can get with it to build up a "Rush" army. Hope you dont mind figuring that out, you have all the numbers allready. Which leads me to something that i didnt like in one of Vanechkas arguments. Something is OP if the counter is not to le

I would really something happen on this. I liked most of limiting a RA to one per planet. It sounds like reducing the effect from exponential like to linear. Do you loose the ability to build phase gates if you loose your tech buildings? btw: what would happen if a gate is destroyed while ships are in transit? Are the lost in phase space? Anyone know whats the critical mass to destroy a gate with bombers in one go? Instead of nerfing i would like to see superweapon im
