In settings someplace, it would be so cool to have a set of defaults for how your ships are built, for example, if you want all your scouts to be made so that they autoexplore, there would be a checkbox for that, as vasari, if you wanted your scout ships to come out no autoexplore, but autoattack, and auto take resource collectors, you'd just set the tic boxes and voila.. same for cap ships, just all the options would be listed for all the ships, and you'd set how they default out of the chute..

basically watched against one each hard tec type of ai on the (fulcrum map)? just to compare the various ais, and I saw something interesting.. even when the ai is tough as hell and built to the 9's it won't attack the pirate base.. ps. I had pirate attacks off

I personally think that pirates should be more like pirates.. randomly flying about attacking things, and that you should not only be able to put a bounty on someone else, but pay off your own bounty.. they pay 1000 to put a bounty on you.. you pay 2000 to take 1000 off.. the pirates stop attacking you, and go back to marauding also, pirates should follow the same rules as everyone else, they should have to buy their ships :P oh, and they should travel through other neutral systems unham

here's a trick for you.. highlight all your cap ships, set them to be a tight formation fleet, and that they all jump at the same time, and hit control 1 Select all your frigates, etc, set them to be another tight formation fleet, but don't warry about them all jumping at the same time, and hit control 2 hit 1, then right click where you want to attack, wait for the audible message saying that the caps are jumping, or watch till they start, then hit 2 and right click the destin
ah, indeed. Uh, how do you get a dxdiag?
sorta late I suppose, but you click the start bar, then click run, then type dxdiag in the box, then you do whatever it takes to have it generate a report, then find the location of it, and voila..
It's on all the time. It's never happened before. That's why I showed that google website shot and this website shot. I haven't opened the game since it occured. I keep on restarting my computer messing with settings and the lines always show up right after the monitor starts and goes off it's logo screen. The reason I posted this was because it happened while playing Sins and hasn't stopped since. Tried messing with all my refresh rates and video sizes. Even turned hardware acceleration
yea ive messed around in the task manager a lot to keep vista at bay.all around I think vista might be to smart (or stupid) for its own good like fouraces said even when u disable sumthing it secretly runs it. grrranyway back to the problem Ive tried all that and now the game runs for around 2-2 1/2 hours then like on cue crashes. this wouldn't seem like a big deal but even when I have a saved game that I played for an hour. I load it up fine but then an hour later it crashes. ready for t
What the hell does "NERF RA" mean?
ra stands for returning armada, nerfing is a specialized method of coating it with a foam substance so that it doesn't hurt so bad when you get hit with it.. for serious, what they are asking for is that the devs make it so that ra will no longer summon ships beyond the fleet capacity, and that it not be possible to jam the entire defense(?) civil(?) capacity in one system full of the gates that the armada appear at
Don't hold Sins to an unfair standard. There is no AI in ANY RTS game that can defeat a veteran player who knows what he's doing. If one AI isn't hard enough for you, play against two. If that's not hard enough for you, play against nine.
ps. make sure to put them all on the same team against you.

one of the devvie types said recently.. it is more important to cater to the customer base than to the popular demand.. if the vocal peeps are saying leave all the mechanics just the same as the original and maybe add some stuff blah blah, etc, then the important question to ask is.. are you going to buy the expansion if that's the case? on the other hand, if they make radical sweeping changes in the expansion, and it brings in a whole swarm of new dollars, then that is the way they should g

is rick roll like the dumb vampire games that people would post that would misdirect you to a dumb site that said that you've been bitten and are now a minion, and that now you had to get a bunch of other people to go to their site so they could collect everyone's ip addresses? Forward this email to 10 of your friends and bill gates will write you a check for $1000 and it'll make your email all turn green, otherwise bad things will happen to you..?

Story based 1p campaigns are so useful for dumbing down the learning curve.. it is so much easier to learn a game if you only have to figure out 1 or 2 units at a time, and where they fit into the grand scheme of things, likewise where to find stuff on the tech trees, etc. The way it is now, it's here's the game, install, register, update, play a couple 1p games, go online and start getting pwned.. try to host your own game, realize that you need to do something called port forwarding.. call

study the players.. emulate their behavior in the ai.. for example, allow the ai to buy metals or crystals when it needs them, or right off the bat.. make an ai option for zerg rush option, where it builds a couple of scouts to find you, then a cap and a bunch of lrms to rush with.. Make a non rush ai that develops many/all of the caps, then sends them out in teams, or all in one armada.. have the ai use the train crews option after all the neutral stars are taken and it is apparent that xp

as far s who said it.. it was several people in the ico chatroom where you connect to to get games.. the forst person said they just bumped their serial by one digit, and the most recent one said he used like 12434342342345234323333 or something silly like that.. they are probably lieing, but why?? also, assuming that the chat room is logged, why would they talk about it right in there.. makes no sense :S

129 Replies 68,842 Views

2 things that I've heard, etc. 1 someone said that you could put any old serial into the game and that it would work.. I don't get that the serial wouldn't have built in checksums, but if someone uses someone elses serial before they've bought it, it just stands to reason that later they will get bumped from it, and it'll make the poor customer service peoples have to work twice as hard. 2 the update is not self evident as to that that is what it is Sins of a Solar Empire Bonusp

Always keep in mind that the same mindset that would be inclined to make cheats for a game are the same ones that would have no problems making a keylogger to steal your password, or a trojan to turn your machine into a zombie for dos attacks :P
Yeah, I checked out the sticky. The issue is that while suggesting that I'm not interested in downloading IRC, and they didn't actually provide an e-mail for the devs. Also, that sticky was aimed at game-breaking exploits. This was more of a minor issue... which I tried to emphasize. As for the use of autocasting in large groups, I think you might have misunderstood me. Autocast is GREAT. It's essential. I'm just irritated by the fact that if I have 2 cap ships of the same type in a contro
