. So, when are you clanners going to try to take Sins clanning to the big leagues?

I don't see any reason why Stardock shouldn't try to release the game for the PS3 and xBox. After all, Stardock employees gotta eat bring home the bucks too, right? I can more or less do just about everything I need to with the mouse which means that it should be possible to play the game with a game pad.
I've wondered the exact same thing. It sure would be useful and would reduce some micromanagement. It would also be neat to be able to set up an auto-salvage feature, as in, "automatically salvage any ship of class X that comes through this particular (or all) phase gate(s) as part of the returning armada."
The Vasari's biggest weapon is called Returning Armada (RA), which basically means, free ships and lots of 'em. However, it is somewhat expensive. (The phase stabilizers also allow you to move ships directly between gravity wells that have them.) You need to have two planets in order to build the needed 8 imperial research labs. So, one strategy might be to take your asteroid and to then capture a planet and try to build RA. Once you've researched RA (
Cybermage, maybe you should grow some cajones and experience playing the game against human intelligence and not just AI. You might discover that it's much more interesting and challenging. I haven't had any desire to play the game in single player mode against AI since I started playing it online via ICO.
Is there an ETA for the 1.1 patch? Of course, everyone should assume that the ETA is a rough estimate and that it shouldn't be expected at that time, etc.
Off the to of my head: Vasari advantages: Good tech tree. Bonuses to mineral production (via tech tree). Scout ships can capture neutral metal and crystal extractors. Vasari can research Returning Armada (RA) and have free ships. Vasari can use phase stabilizers to quickly move fleets across the galaxy. Enforcer cruisers kick arse and the Subverter cruisers are useful too. Vasari disadvantages: Ships are more expensive than for the other
I think another problem is the difficulty that people are having with hosting games. I've seen lots of people in the Lobby looking for a game and no one who can host one.
You have to sign on to Ironclad Online. I think it's right under the "Multiplayer" tab (which is for LAN games). You register with Ironclad Online (ICO) and then you'll join the Lobby chat channel and you'll see various tabs, one of which is "Join Game", which will pull up a list of available games.
Feel free to play on ICO Cybermage. Anyone who's seriously interested in playing the game competitively should do it either via a clan match or an organized pickup games (PUG) match. (The competitive community has yet to organize PUG matches nor even to set up a formal ladder or league.)
This is what I like to listen to as background music for when I'm playing Sins. http://www.SomaFM.com I like the Space Station Soma and the Drone Zone channels.
I have two computers attached to this router, but I only have Sins installed on my main computer and my wife is a seamstress and not a gamer. I think I see what you're saying now. If I had more than one computer trying to host Sins behind the same router, then they should have different ports. But since I just have this one, Starting Port 6000 and Ending Port 6112 should be fine?
All computers behind a router should have their own unique GameHostPort setup in case the original host leaves and a new host for the game is needed. Be sure to restart your game after changing these settings. Example (computers behind router): Computer IP user.settings -> GameHostPort R
Maybe the game could just run a little faster for the first 10 minutes?
Have you tried connecting to ICO and tried joining a game? As I understand it, much of the problem is on the HOSTING-a-game side and not the playing-on-a-game-someone-else-is-hosting side. I have issues hosting games too, I think, but I don't seem to have any with joining games other people are hosting.
Wouldn't be surprised if Team 1 were on voice comm, either. In the FPS community that I'm a part of it was called "Teaming", where a couple clanmates or skilled buddies join a public server, get on the same team, and then proceed to spank the nooblets. One solution would be to set up a PUG match channel with a pugbot, allowing teams to be picked (like in gym class) often resulting in balanced teams, but it would take effort to get a Sins pug match community going and folks would h
Ah, that's what I suspected it might refer to.
I've read a couple posts that refer to a "Vasari Black Market Buff". Could someone please explain what that is and whether something was added to the tech tree with the 1.04 patch that gives the Vasari an advantage on the black market? I haven't noticed it in the tech tree yet.
Thought I'd start a thread for clan IRC channels. If your clan has one, post the IRC server and channel name.
Perhaps I played the last game with minidump, ever. He hosted a game and when one of my teammates started beating up on him, he said something to the effect: "If I can't have fun playing, no one else can have fun either. You guys just wasted your time." ...and then he pulled the plug on the game.
Just meet us in the official IRC Sins channel. We always have pickup/inhouse/clan games there.
Yeah, but it's not the same as a PUG channel where a pugbot helps facilitate things. We'd like to bring a pugbot over to the Stardock IRC server, but the guy who owns the bot has reservations about putting it up on strange (to him) IRC servers and Stardock would have to be OK with it, I suppose. Just come idle in that channel and maybe we can make something of it. It
If you want to play with better players, play the inhouses/clan matches. If you play pubs, you deserve what you get.
True that. In the Unreal Tournament community, we've found that we get to enjoy more competitive capture-the-flag matches (5-v-5) when two people become captains and "draft" the other eight players in PUG (pickup games) matches, which are organized in IRC channels and facilitated by computer programs called pugbots. PUGs have kept the original (the bes
Here's a suggestion: Why don't you see if you can handle hard ai?!
I have an even better idea. Why don't you sign on to Ironclad Online and being playing online multiplayer against human opponents? Sadly, only a tiny percentage of people who like the game have the cajones needed to play it online.
I'll put in a good word for Alpha Centauri. I wish that a true Alpha Centauri II could be made. I've never played Gal Civs, but I'm tempted to get it since I like Stardock/Ironclad.
The Novalith sounds pretty powerful. I'm waiting for someone to scream, "OMG! It's like a TEC version of the Returning Armada! It needs to be nerfed!"
