Note that by increasing the Fleet supply number, you start paying upkeep. Its basically a tax that comes off your income. (When you start the game its 0%, first upgrade takes it to 9%.) So you don't want to just buy all the fleet supply upgrades right away, you'll really hurt your income if you do. Build up gradually as you can afford it.

Each planet has a certain number of "logistics slots", that you can see by mousing over the planet (the numbers appear in the popup planet info). A research station takes 4 slots. You can do an upgrade to the planet to give it more slots, but eventually you max that out and have to expand to more planets. You can still build things like defense guns/hangars, because those use up "tactical slots" instead.

[quote]On some rare occasions I have had planets in extremely close proximity. On the huge map I'm playing now, I have one planet significantly higher up than another, but from a top down perspective, there is very little space separating their gravity wells, although they are indeed separate. Personally, I think it's very cool when something like that comes up.Anyways, this is a good situation where moving from one planet to attack another without phase-jumping could be a useful strategy, tak

The Vasari are a proud people and will never bend knee to some lesser life form like TEC members. Luckily, your capital ships have big missile launchers for just that sort of problem. :) (The Marza's Raze Planet ability also does a really good job of wiping people out after you get it upgraded.)

The best thing to attack them with is a heavy Capital ship that can take a pounding, with a lot of heavy cruisers, some LRMs, and support ships. Even then, I wouldn't do it until you have a decent number of weapon/armor/shield upgrades. Without those upgrades you're basically fighting on equal terms. With the upgrades, your ships can take a real pounding from Pirate guns. You will take losses unless you vastly outnumber them. What you need to do is fight well clear of the defense platfo

As was mentioned, you can turn off the pirate raids by using the "game options" button that appears when setting up the game. If you choose to leave them on, you have two defenses: 1. Outbid other players so the Pirates attack them 2. Kill them when they show up. I know 2 isn't as easy as it sounds, being a newbie myself. :) The best way to do it is to make sure you get your free capital ship (the first capital ship you build costs nothing except the cost of the factory

I like to fortify too, and single player it can work. You don't want to fortify every planet though. Primarily the best ones to heavily fortify are border planets. Any enemy that wants to get at your inner planets has to go through the border ones anyway, and although they can do it by just flying through, they'll get softened up (and give your ships a chance to rally and help defend). It works best on small maps, because your fleet is never too far away. On a large map, you might want

Hi there. I've been on the fence about getting Sins for a while, so I was glad to see the demo come out. Gave it a try, and here's some thoughts on it: - The little intro is great. Makes me wish there was a campaign mode, since there is enough story elements to make one work. Maybe they can do that as an addon pack? - 3 of the 4 tutorials were pretty good. The advanced logistics one wasn't nearly long enough, it left me with no real idea of what Broadcast Stations or Orbital Refineries do,
