ok scratch that....close this post. It took like an hour but it finally reconnected and downloaded.
Like the title says. I hit update but after 4 MB the update status goes to "retrying" and just sits there forever. Any solutions?
*rolls eyes* Why is everyone so hell-bent on getting the borg into this mod? They have almost no ship variety; you'd have to make up a bunch of ships for their faction. Besides which they weren't even involved in the dominion war...
No race has real trouble with pirates.....if you think a planet could get hit by pirates, 3 repair bays, 4-5 turrets, and a hangar will handle them easily. Just make sure you have some turrets covering pirate siege frigate approaches
also, if you follow a strategy of running straight to a chokepoint planet to squeeze in your opponent, the planets you took over on the way will very typically be exposed to pirate attack. I wouldn't remove their defenses if I were you.
Evacuators are weaksauce? This is news to me. Last time I checked, they could kill a heavy cruiser in one shot with nano-disassembler fully leveled-up.
And even with that the other Vasari capships have better abilities.....Combat-wise an Evacuator has nano, a gravity bomb that can't damage targeted capships and allows them to shoot back, and a terrible lvl6 ability. That's weak. The other vasari ships have a variety of abilities that are better plus they have more
RA get's positively ridiculous as you increase your supply........at max supply I went -200 over the ship cap and had 2502 supply............RA shoved out 50 skarovas, 30 kanraks, 20 ravastras, 20 lasuraks, a dozen serevuns, and more.........i don't care how balanced your fleet is you cannot fight that. And even if you can destroy all that they just respawn for free Advent and TEC don't have anything that even remotely compares to this
I would always get a trade port over a refinery. Your rate resource gain can never hope to match your credit income....if you are really hurting for metal/crystal just use the money you earned with trade ports and buy them.
Can you do that in multiplayer though? After all you are assuming the enemy will try to run away.....if I saw a fleet with 2 evacuators I would jump for joy and attack instead of retreat...evacs are weaksauce if they didn't have Colonize i would never use them.
I saw that, and yes considering that this is a Dominion War mod, that could work. But to me that's much more a Klingon thing than a Federation thing...besides which it sounds like Major Stress wants to do all the races separately so there should be things that make the federation unique. Culture ships and technologies seem like the thing that can make the Feddies stand out. Leave rape and pillage to the klingons and dominion.
Capital ships are still best for running down other retreating capships. Vasari have gravity bomb and phaseout hull. My fav though is Akkan battlecruiser's ion cannon. Fast cooldown and each shot turns the enemy capship into a sitting duck. So long as you dont' run out of antimatter it has zero chance of escaping. besides, phase inhibitors take up tactical slots and are immobile.
I took your advice and read page 2. However, while I saw a discussion on "siege" tactics I did not see a solution that fit the federation, just a comment that it is a difficult problem to solve. That's why I'm suggesting the Norway frigate, as a means of replacing siege/troop invading. If you make it spread culture and stackable (as in speed up that spread with more Norways, as well as maybe have a capital ship like the Galaxy-class have a culture-spread ability), then now you can have
I only built a cap-ship only fleet to get the Go Big or Go Home achievement Do not do it for any other reason other than to get the achievement.....cap ships are slow as hell and you will get your ass handed to you by bombers and mass frigates. Worse if the enemy gets upgrades for their light frigates (sabotage reactor, steal antimatter, etc) your capital ships will not be long among the living. Also they can focus on using cap ships with focused anti-cap ship abilities (akkan, radiance
Can I make a small suggestion to the modders? Obviously you can't make siege frigates for the federation....they just don't do that kind of thing So instead how about a frigate that spreads culture wherever it is, and uses that to turn enemy planets neutral at an accelerated pace(and thus colonizable by you the conqueror)? What I propose is the Norway-class frigate, which in canon is a diplomatic ship. I played Sacrifice of Angels mod for Homeworld (and loved it!) and
research options of a type become available as you build more research facilities of that type. There are no "research points" to spend, if you got the money and resources then you can research anything within your research level. the "1" in the upper right hand corner means you are researching 1 point of that upgrade.
well they can't repair without antimatter. Massed cobalts with Sabotage Reactor, or a Dunov with EMP could hurt them.
A few things I learned by playing: -Choice of cap ship is important. If you are looking to grab territory fast than pick your first cap ship to be one that has Colonize ability. Otherwise just get the one that is meanest in a straight up fight (Kols, Radiance, Kortul), it makes a big difference when trying to conquer neutral planets that have big militias. -Trade is a big moneymaker. Don't skimp on it. -Don't always try to outbribe pirates, intercepting their fleets wi
My favorite is the Progenitor. Very little firepower to speak of but it has colonize to start the game and it's two combat support abilities are very nice. I've never really had occasion to see it's lvl6 ability in action though. in TEC my fav is Marza. Walk two lvl6 marzas into a pirate base, lure the pirates into range, and unleash dual missile barrage....goodbye pirates
nothing at all. I just warped my fleet into the enemy planet set to attack all in gravity well, set to default auto-attack as well the fighters just launch from the my ships and then stop doing anything unless i give them manual orders. Normally the fighters will go out on their own and hit whatever enemy targets are in the gravity well, but in this case they just sat there.
As background info: I was playing TEC and had max-supply sized fleet. Had about 30 squads of mixed fighters and bombers. I don't know if it's a bug that only happens when there are too many ships fighting, but essentially my fightercraft would launch and then just sit there doing nothing. I would have to manually order them to target the enemy (and yes i checked their attack status it was still on auto-attack), and after they killed it they would stop and do nothing again. Anybody
Hi all I'm new to this game...after beating an AI 1v1 I decided to play a 3-way free for all map Was doing ok, I controlled 3 of the 9 planets so at the very least I was on equal footing with the AI, and I was able to easily repel individual assaults on my main forward planet.....and then both AI's ganged up on me and sent their fleets to hit the same planet at the same time...game over This happened again when I restarted the game.....so it seems inevitable that I'm gonna get my b
