no, not invincible. I just said agreed because i hate HC spamming. I'd rather repair abilities have utility late game. I already posted my answer to this problem in what i want in the expansion. I think being able to spam repair is just as lame as spamming HC's or LRMS. I don't want them to make units invincible, but having them keep units alive longer would be nice...
SplitPeaSoup
agreed.
repair bays might work on buildings... for a short while
Not if 20 HC's and bombers are focus firing, which is what inevitably happens late game.
Oh, and as a cool bonus to race diversification, the three ships could be a cruiser, a frigate, and a cap ship respectively. Obviously, the tanker would not be a cap ship built early on.
Or at least make some serious penalty for breaking an alliance...
I think there would have to be some incentive to win through diplomacy. Otherwise, that's no fun. Or there would have to be some penalty to ally. Perhaps in order to ally you must meet certain requirements, for example you must a) destroy a common enemy b) both research some end-tier alliance ability (this should leave the two open to attack) c) you get it? This simulates the computer version, where you have to impress them to ally. Another thing, I think cease-fire sh
I see a problem with the TEC idea. Any warned ship is already dead. Maybe the SWACs can warn for a period of time in an aura around itself though. I dunno. Make it work.
I want a skill that spreads fire out. Maybe a new late game ship called a "Deceiver" for Advent : skill called "Confuse the masses" "SWACS" for TEC: skill called "Warn Friendly" "Kujari Tanker" for Vasari, which does close to no damage itself but has immense hull and shield. Ability called "For Honor" The ability should force all enemies after 5 to attack something else for a period of time or, in the case of the vasari, they must attack the tanker for a per
I am happy about that. I kept losing cap ships because they are too slow. The only issue I see is someone going run happy with a carrier. But this is only a viable strat early game.
Due to the immese amount of damage focus fire causes, even with shield mitigation, repair abilities are useless. Your ships will be destroyed before they can be repaired. Use the crippling abilities. These work. Repair abilities might work before heavy cruisers, but scuttle all repair bays and turn off that repair auto-cast after that. Make sure to research crippling abilities instead. Focus fire is stupid, but it is how the late game works. You might be able to
Yeah, women can be prickly. Anyway. I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I was serious. I want humans to be the military giant because I like to play the military giant, and I am human. Maybe a new race could be all the normal humans that the TEC sent away as prisoners who come back for vengence... oh wait.
[quote/] PS: Thank you, Vanechka, for capitalizing Pyrrhic . I'm Danish and couldn't remember how the term is spelled in English (I'm a bit rusty). So, at the risk of seeming less smart if it was a genuine compliment (the smily leaves a bit of ambiguity), I must admit I that I looked it up on Wikipedia and Dictionary.com, where it's capitalized. Though I must admit that I couldn't figure out if it was for emphasis only. Is it normally capitalized? I'm curious. And finally, have you c
Another thing. And I think the dev's are working on this. Cap ships are painfully slow. It is really hard to escape with one.
You should always kill the cap ship late game. They are still very expensive to replace, as much as 6 heavy cruisers for the TEC (a force more than a match for a cap ship). What makes them annoying is that someone will get a skill like "drain planet" and be a douche with it. There is nothing more sinister than colonizing someone's highly fortified asteroid in a matter of 40 secs.
Oh, one more point. I sort of like the TEC cap ships. They look like destroyers in space. Maybe they could look a little less like cargo freighters, but I think that goes with the unrealistic story.
From historical knowlege, I see no need for an all-consuming empire race; That's us. What bothers me is that the humans are so culturally advanced. They follow the Star Trek no-wars-in-forever-because-we've-progressed-past-that paradigmn. Disgusting. Being a member of a chaotic race, I like to play the chaotic race. It bothers me that I cannot experience that from the familiar point of view. Make humans expansionistic next time!! I'm sick of this idealistic humans are goodly e
So,should I not target a cap ship first?
If you have the firepower, always take out a cap ship. They are big and hard to kill, but they are more expensive than they are worth from a purely tactical standpoint. Their abilities make them worth using... sometimes. If you take out a cap ship, it costs more than it was worth to replace. A HC is just one of the many.
If you didn't steal the game, you should contact support. That's a serious issue, especially because the online game is really fun.
I don't care what it looks like if the game is better than anything else on the market. Make it pretty, but make it fun first. That should be the priority.
Can we have vulcans? Or are they out due to that they are elves in disguise?
Wait, does the game not end if everyone allies? I thought that was the case? I just kept killing people because I wanted their planets all to myself. Oh well.
Here's a cool suggestion: what about a race that isn't humanoid? Super-intellegent plants that control dumb mammalian creatures through pheromones? Not bad. I agree. I want to see more creativity in the races. I love the advent. The vasari remind me of the Drengin, and every game needs a super evil empire race (which should be humans before it is an alien race in my opinion). So that's ok.
The problem with sending in a Dunov is that it is slow and your opponent will focus fire on it. EMP charge can be effective, but make sure there are not too many heavy cruisers, or you will lose your expensive capital ship.
