Or, they could add a researchable anti-light frigate missle available at t-3, when an anti-LRM defense exists. Fighters.
This game has graphics? wow I guess never of you played Nexus or Hegenmina. Those are effects! lookem up
Try to keep the discussion relevant to this game. And Nexus was lame :). Here's my idea: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307810"]Alliance Viewer[/link]
Sometimes when I play a game, I attack a computer unwisely with whom I should have allied because I could not see that it was already allied with another computer. Is there a way I can view alliances? If not, I would like that ability. I want to make good choices and avoid galactic war III, where I am the steller Germans.

I thought that the time of release for 1.04 (a job well done from the change list) would be a good time for none other than a list of desires for the next patch! RULES FOR THIS POST: 1) Please respond in the form of a link to a new post. 2) Do not argue with someone's post on this thread. 3) Balance ideas should include a specific fix. I do not expect everyone to follow the rules, but it would be nice if the people who read this would take them into con
-Siege Frigates:-Build costs decreased by ~15%.As I was updating my ship chart, I noticed this was not applied to Advent.Kru,Advent siege unit supply cost was reduced by 1. From 15-->14. Not sure how useful that can be.
If you build 4, then you get an extra LRM. If you build 5, an extra light frigate. I think this looks great. I was especailly excited to see that carriers cost a little less. Having more carriers is as effective as making them more powerful. For e
Great!! And because this is going to be a hot post, I am going to take advantage. Can someone tell me where the .record files are stored on windows vista machines?
college campus or anyplace where you're not in control of the router facing the Internet, good luck convincing that IT Department for allowing those ports through to you!!!
Yeah, this is my problem.
Q1: I am running Windows Vista. Where do I find the folder that the game checks for .record files? Q2: What is the use of pinning objects to the Empire tree?
The issue at hand in determining whether to weigh a hard-core strategist's opinion is whether that strategist has expert knowlege of the game's mechanics. I think it would be a little ad verecundium to blindly take a hard-core gamer's advice. But at the same time, seeing what people who play a lot have to say can be a helpful tool for directing game evaluations. If the people who play a lot consistently say that LRMs are overpowered, that may not be the case. After all, those people do
edit: ok, I won't bother posting the explanation then
I just made this post to create a place for all the people who keep posting that LRMs dominate. I am not sure exactly what the difference is (in terms of money) between LRMs vs. other ships. For example, if I buy 10 light frigates, how much less do I have to spend in order to destroy them with LRMs. How much less do I have to spend to destroy those LRMs with carriers? How much do I have to spend to destroy lrms with capital ships? How much to destroy them with
Although, there arent too many valuable ability unlocks in sins (unlike games like starcraft, c&c3).
I disagree. Most of the ability unlocks are of immense value. What is an example of an ability that does not impress you?
I know what gets on my nerves: People who try to hijack other people's posts by injecting whatever their issue or desire is. I know when I speak of vocal minorities that's what I mean. People who try to falsely give the impression that their issue or request or what have you is shared by lots of people by making lots and lots of posts and comments which serves to give the illusion that a lot of people are having the problem the repetitive poster is having. I like the evacuator. It would have been cooler had they made the city structure visible (eg. buildings) through a transparent cover, but I'll go for a whale.
not to mention that you have to build your own lrms to defend yourself, and that takes crystal. the next military research costs you a lot of crystal. and the research for carriers is a ton of crystal. and THEN the carriers themselves are a ton of crystal. so basically, the early game is one big lrm fest, and its stupid. lrms should counter the support cruisers. you can build them earlier to seige a planet's defenses, but that should be their sole role until something can counter them
The problem is that they are cheaper than cobalts and they kill cobalts 1 on 1. Why would I keep building cobalts when my long range weapon is cheaper and better? The unit you research second should not fill the role of making the fist unit obsolete, unless the second unit comes with a counter that can be researched simultaneously. For example, if I could build a missle scambler to go along with the huge fleet of light frigates that i otherwise have to scuttle, then it would be ok. as it is, you
Why is it that LRMs counter my agile light frigates? That irritates me. In fact, light frigates should be good at taking out LRMS. LRMs should pick off support units. I hate that light frigates are made practically useless because they are a direct fighting unit countered by an even cheaper "direct fighting" unit.
i am going to point out that i made the assumption that your 5% upgrade gave you 5% of a new ship. In reality, you would need to upgrade 5% armor + 5% shields + 5%firepower to get what i said. The point is that more ships is better. If you have more money than you know what to do with, buy a new military research. LRMS are totally wack. They should counter SUPPORT ships. having them counter light frigates spoils my day. that makes the game a race to the research finish.
Wow, lame. We are going to end up with a super ship. Everyone seems to want it. *shakes fist* I hope there is a super ship defense that can be built for like 4/5 super ship price...
Ah, thanks Astax. I now see the financial benfit to building those. I thought they were seige weapons.
yeah, but it will also melt under huge numbers of frigates...
If you spend 400 credits for a shield upgrade that increases shields by %5, then you are effectively buying %5 more ships than what you already have built. This means that if you buy cheap 600 credit light frigates early game, you need 14 light frigates to make a 5% buff worth it. 1) 600 credits * .05% = 30 credits 2) 30 credits * 14 = 420 credits Hence, you gain 20 credits for your research. Make sure you build at least 20 ships befo
How does a broadcast center affect credits in any way?
But it needs to be inversely proportional to an exponential function. You mean logarithmic???
Wow, you just got roasted.
