Light doesn't escape a black hole because it does, in a sense, have "mass". Mass and energy are interchangeable.... you can get mass from energy, and energy from mass. Theory of relativity. Light simply does not have enough energy to escape a black hole at a certain distance, called the event horizon. Atleast, from what I understand.

Actually, the return of the dark fleet is only good when you need forces now , otherwise its a waste of resources in its current state. And the more I think about it, the more I love the rough... awesomely unique qualities of the TEC... their rough and tumble design... their technical style. It's awesome. And sometimes I love onemindedness. So while TEC doesnt quite have the versatility of the Vasari, they certainly kick butt in their own way. =D

Siege frigs and carriers should be fine the way they are now. The deliverance engine is the second strongest ultimate weapon, behind the Vasari. The extra mitigation and other bonuses are well worth it. It may not be as tangible, but trust me, the benefit is there. Starbases already have a limit, they cost a crapload. A limit is not really needed. One per planet is fine. The civilian defense act could use a buff, yes. The Vasari charged missile ability can be t

So, after some thinking, I started to come up with a list of ideas, all purely visual, that could impact the visual punch of the game. If these exist already in a mod, please don't hesitate to point it out! 1. I'd really, really love to see more exploding flak. Right now, even with 50+ flak, the only explosions are the strike craft (Which is cool, don't get me wrong). I'd still like to see blankets of flak.... flak cannons from the TEC, exploding missiles from the Vasar

If they don't do the same, yes. But the change shouldn't be... that apparent, let's say. I don't think using a scout in that manner will really change the outcome of anything, as the jump time from planet to planet would probably make up for it anyway.

Eh, it sounds like the captain of a ship that doesn't know he's cannon fodder. A rookie just out of training.

Haha, now that that's resolved... when I first saw the title of this thread I thought it said "Planets suck at 35% loyalty". I was like.... of course they do, duh. Anyway, yeah. Move capital closer, you'll be good to go. Just don't move it too far, or your other worlds will be just like the ones you're trying to fix. Just watch out, moving it too close to enemy lines could be problematic.

I actually don't like the TEC that much, which is a shame, because I'm in love with their capitals. But for some reason, I always overextend myself with their economy. I prefer Vasari -> Advent -> TEC. The advent defenses are scary, and the instant-teleport-anywhere on the map ability the Vasari have is even more so. Surprisingly, for these reasons and their lack of true support (not counting the darn Hoshikos) I find them unwieldy and dare I say, a very one minded faction. Get as much

Ah, I suppose. But then, resources to introduce the feature could also be spent elsewhere. Would you rather have a new race (the care bears!), or these? Granted, a new race is substantially more difficult, but it's just an example. It all depends on the focus of the expansions. If one is diplomacy/economy, which is likely, I don't see this being implemented in that one. Likewise if the final expansion brings in the scourge of the vasari (which I doubt) or a storyline (m

The penalty is 25% while under attack, and another 25% if a hostile unit is in the same grav well. So the penalties can happen even at your own home world, not just hostile grav wells. It's a small difference, but it means quite a bit.

Ok, totally off topic, but you keep mentioning demagogues and all those random arguement quotes. You're not using the word right, none of us are leaders, and none of us are using prejudices or emotions to gain power. You keep linking to wikipedia too... over... and over... It's not helping your point, and is only making you look hostile and condescending. As to my take on the subject, I'm ok with any addition to the game as long as it follows three criteria. &nb

*strolls in* [e digicons]^_^'[/e] Kay well, here it goes. I've only played a few multiplayer games and Im pretty sure I suck. Atleast, I've never been very good at strategy games. But with all that aside, would you guys be willing to accept me, and show me a few things?

I actually find them beautiful. Personal preference, I guess. The new ones with Entrenchment are truly a sight to be hold. What it comes down to is, just pure black space with stars is boring. So skyboxes let you imagine that every map you play in is smack dab in a nebula of some sort. Course, since planets dont orbit and there can be 50+ planets per star, realism doesn't really belong in a game like this. It's all about style, and that's somethin

The vasari have their starbase, remember. With the faster build times and better attack... then it becomes even more advisable to use their starbase as an offensive platform. I must say, this new patch is a dream come true. [e digicons]\o/[/e] Thank you guys for the incredible work!

Ah, interesting. Change one aspect of the game for one group, you enrage the other group. Quite a problem. Let's say caps were allowed to have flak. Would the flak target only fighters? If not, how much dps would it add to each capital? Flak frigates themselves are only effective against fighters, and have trouble taking down bombers. Does the same remain true for these flak turrets? Would a turret or two really help if you're being swarmed with tons of bombers/fighters that

I think you might be noticing something else that's wrong. The button for the offensive tech tree for TEC is wrong, it shows a civilian structure instead of the right button, a turrent. Likewise, the civilian button displays a turrent instead of the right image of a structure. Otherwise...they're all in the right place...
If you don't play Multiplayer, your opinion is completely worthless. Don't bother posting.
Uh, why is only those that play multiplayer important? Considering only a fraction of the gaming community actually plays multiplayer... I would actually say their opinions would be worth less (not worthless ) if you weighed them like a majority vote type deal.

On pure looks? Kodiak. If you look at capitals, the ugliest is the Advent's siege cap. Ew. Ship wise, meh, I always find the flaks to be the most annoying. They hardly damage my fleet, but they take forever to destroy.

...dead weight? You just called the Vasari egg dead weight? While the Akkan gets the very short end of the stick, the Advent malice ability is nothing to sneeze at either. Honestly, the big complaint I keep getting is that people run before you can reach them... so why not just bomb their planets? They can't damage your planets with carriers... they'll at one point need something else to take them down. This maybe naive of me, but why not just bypass their fleet? Or des
