My friend and I got Rebellion on release, and had been Sins players since the original. We played about 3-4 games together, and neither of us have looked at it since. Titans as implemented are the death of the game, and there are far too many 'win buttons' in the game now. And of course Ironclad's gigantic lie about implementing ladder and proper matchmaking instead of having to deal with nothing but 5v5 customs. I check up on things now and again to see if

Haven't actually touched the game in over a month because of the titan dominance, they totally killed the game for me. They are simply too powerful, and make frigates worse than useless (because they feed titans XP). Once they gain a couple levels they get overwhelming aoe nuking power and become extremely durable. The 'worst' titans, the ones people ask for buffs on, are the only ones that aren't completely broken. Once titans come into play, all strat
Not that Vasari really need the help; but I've never quite understood why Vasari, the NANOTECH REPAIR EXPERTS, have the worst repair bay. No upgrades to improve it from 15/sec, while TEC can go up to 40/sec. This makes about zero sense lorewise.
It seems to me AL was supposed to be like TL, focusing on defence while their 'win mechanic' allows them to avoid having to attack more than necessary. Problem is culture, ALs 'win mechanic', is terrible. It has NEVER been a worthwhile focus, being far too easy to repel even with Advent's culture advantages over the other races. While AL does need help in other areas, I think overhauling culture strength would go a long way towards fixing AL.
I never could understand people complaining of desyncing errors. I've had a few early in Diplomacy development, but I haven't had any in over 2 years. Reduced 48%Original 726 x 900 I've been running the same game for the 3-4 weeks, playing on the weekends (multiple players: one local, other online). I always use direct connect and never ICO. Granted, I am playing through an early, minimal version of
Any time I try a FFA with AIs, it always ends the same way: -I kill a neighbour -This pleases another AI -We ally and double-team everyone else for an easy win I realize it's probably difficult to implement proper diplomacy in a RTS and I doubt I could have done any better, but honestly it's better to just play with locked teams and not have to deal with easily exploited AI diplomacy. Leave the diplomacy for turn-based games.
It's a bombing cap with support abilities, but they aren't even good support they are indirect support. Guidance just needs to go, replace it some sort of direct offencive ability like all the other bombing caps get. CV is meh. It's not awful, but I'm not going to buy a cap just for it. It needs a secondary effect, maybe like giving a small buff/debuff when used in the grav well the Revelation is currently in.
I thought the devs would learn from history and try to avoid minidumps and balance issues killing the MP community before it even had a chance. But here we are, minidumps and balance issues are killing the MP community before it even had a chance. Everyone said the game needed another month or two of beta testing, but they pushed the button anyway.
Siege have always been useless beyond diversionary raids. Caps give similar bombing damage per fleet supply, even moreso if you have ones with bombing abilties, and aren't useless outside of bombing. I personally would like to see them remain fragile, but actually have damage output and cap/cost such that making some siege frigates over a cap is sometimes a good plan.
When this ability goes off it blows up your extractors and structures there, except for SBs and mines. This part is intended I assume. However it does this regardless of who owns said structures. You can ignore a players structures when attacking a planet, bomb it to death, STTC it and insta-kill everything remaining without having to waste time attacking it. I'm assuming this part was NOT intended.
TL titan is pretty balanced on the whole, I think it should mostly be left alone.
After playing a long game where I had everything research, I noticed this ability was basically worthless. It was giving me maybe 6-7 ships at my homeworld...every 30 minutes or so. This is at a stage in the game where players can build 300 supply of ships in a minute or so. I know in the beta this and the pirate call-ins were scaled back, but while the pirates were rebalanced it seems this abilty was totally forgotten about. It either needs to kick in much more freq
It's a good start, I like it. It's enough to warrant playing the game again at least now that using Visari won't feel like cheating, VR starbases aside. I look forward to seeing what is planned to bring TL and VL up to par with their rebel factions. Oh, and THANK YOU for using my Advent AI mine suggestion (ie just remove it). Advent AI might have a slightly better chance late game now that it doesn't waste carriers as mine layers.
AL was clearly designed to be like TL; turtle up and win via alternate means. The problem is while TL are meant to win via superweapons, AL is supposed to win via culture. Culture has never been a good gameplan as it is too easy to repel. Throw up a few culture buildings and you can generally ignore it unless your opponent dedicates half his total logistical slots to it. The upgrades are also all on the civilian side, whereas Sins really wants to get military to tier 5
It's been very flaky since the beta. There's definitely still something messed up with its 'group and attack' code.
If you're unhappy with the quality of the AI, have you considered playing it in online multiplayer against human opponents (who are capable of actual strategic thought)?
Because I don't want to play 5v5, yet whenever I try to get a 2v2 or even a 3v3 going nobody joins. If the community is still fixed in their 5v5 ways, I'll just stick with TCP/IP with my friends.
I doubt Sins 2 will remove the Visari, the intro makes it clear the VR have the right idea. Sins 2 will likely be VR plus whoever came with them, with those who stayed getting wiped out or mostly wiped out by the unnamed threat. The remaining trinity will have to make a stand or likely get a macguffin to fight the 4th race. VL might show up if they think the trinity actually has a hope in hell of winning.
On Medium Random maps, I'd also like to see the lanes fixed so that allies aren't cut off by the pirate base. It's hard to play a 2v2 when one team is unable to send reinforcements to eachother without taking a beating from the pirate base.
I've played several FFAs and 2v2s with my friend and since launch, and with using unfair AI we have seen no issues with AI aggressiveness. We've even lost to them the first few games by not taking them seriously enough. They attack pretty early now, and can easily overwhelm you if you've been screwing around too much. They're quite a bit better at attacking starbases now as well. I have never once had an issue with the AI not attacking since the release
You more or less have to play against the AI on unfair or higher to get any real challenge out of them. Normal difficulty actually gives the AI penalites AFAIK, you need to play on at least Hard before they are even at 100%. Beyond that they get to cheat.
Don't use Visari Rebel against the AI right now if you want any sort of challenge. Loyalists at least you need to know what you're doing to break them.
I don't even get it; the Sins multiplayer community is small yet the amount of rage and hate that got thrown out at release by some people was absolutely mind-boggling. If you think Sins Rebellion release balance is bad, some people here must have sent death threats out of some others RTS devs on their release. It's not even like there's a ladder where you can't do anything about it, people are flipping out over UNRANKED game balance. Ban Visari from
Quoting msawdey, reply 21In regard to the top statement. Without players IC wouldnt exist. Games are about the players. Thats just bad business. Modding should not have to be what happens to balance a game. That should be the baseline of the game and you mod off of that. Players are playing their game. They have a vision for it, that is the bottom line. <br
Sins Rebellion is still a fantastic single player and co-op vs AI game, and the new content only makes it better. Competitive multiplayer...has issues right now. Wait until the next patch if that's your main interest, or at least for the trolls to stomp off and go somewhere else.
It was fine for the $30 preorder IMO. It was better than the previous two expansion combined (people are forgetting little things like overhauling the pacts and envoy abilities to be useful to all races). The $40 price tag was meant for people who didn't own Sins before. Standalone was required to 'relaunch' the game successfully, and I would have made the same call if I was in charge. Sucks if you didn't know about the $10 discount though, $40 is pushing it
