I've never explored this feature before. How do I view replays?
Supabish
That sounds like your biggest issue with this game ;)
Can you please clarify what the handicaps will give to the less skilled player? Higher rate of income? More powerful ships? Less upkeep penalty? etc.
I have tested out some LRMs. Their ability to destroy frigates is respectable compared to Cobalts. I have also observed that the Garda Flak Frigate, even when shot at by about 3 Cobalts and 2 LRMs takes a relatively long time to finish off. Their auto-cannon deals 19 average damage un-upgraded as well. They have about 950 hull with around 450 shield points... Sounds like a very robust ship as it shoots down strikecrafts and other frigates alike down quite quickly.
I suggest you read this article: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3638/postmortem_ironcladstardocks_.php
Don't you get refunds for those?
Although the ships are spaced out with some above and below others, the gameplay is on a linear plane. You're not missing anything other than different views of things.
I think you didn't read the word 'assume'. Those were exemplary values to put forth his idea. Dealing that much damage is inconceivable, like how you pointed out.
By right-clicking on the icon of the respective building, I might add.
"All this is doing is making the more powerful player even more powerful." That is the catch of the proposed system. Factor that 30% with the available tech upgrades. The player on the losing side will have absolutely no chance of coming back (given that they are both fairly skilled). With a player's army decimated and the other's even stronger, the game is decided.
Oh, sorry :p I wasn't reading the usernames. I don't recall seeing any of those weapon and armour classes described in-game. They just give a generic good against and bad against :(
Ah, thanks for the info guys. So it is definitely damage per second that is listed. About the LRM, wouldn't it be targeted first due to its (relatively) high damage and weak HP when you're playing a human opponent? During my fights with the AI, I evaluate target priorities for all encounters.
I'm a new player and do not understand why people prefer LRMs. Although the LRM does more damage than a Cobalt, I prefer the cobalt due to its rate of fire, hull, and shield. This spawns two more questions: 1) By labelling ships' offensive points as average damage, does "average damage" means the damage inflicted over the same period of time? Or the average damage per volley of shots/round? 2) Do missiles damage the hull, bypassing shields entirely?
Don't you have a watch, your alarm clock, or mobile phone? I use my wrist watch during my sessions.
Any other upload sites? It says I've reached the free download limit although I haven't used the site for ages. "Get your own premium account now! (or wait 40 minutes)". I hate rapidshare.
I've thought about it more and yeah, I can use it to train my capital ships. Credit is relatively easy to generate so next time I'll put a huge bounty on :D A bunch of upgraded gauss cannons, some Cobalts and a couple Kodiaks can repel them just fine.
This is my first time using this forum. I'd like to ask why is it that I have to create a topic twice to make it appear on the board? Also, I have to refresh the page every time after I post to see my own message.
I am playing this on a 3 year old laptop with the following specs: Intel Pentium M725 @ 1.6GHz, 400MHz FSB, 2MB L2 cache ATi Mobility Radeon 9700, 64MB at stock clock. 512MB DDR RAM I am playing with all details on, 1280 x 768 (wide screen) resolution, high ship quality and extras, high planet quality and extras. Definitely playable, although requires a person with patience. Only trouble I have is load times and the framerate killer which is the
I'm planning on trying that. As for the pirates, I *was* going to turn them off until I forgot and just tried to play with it. The good part is it gave me some experience of the game.
Heh, ships with cloaking field generator. Annoy people to no end with a surprise attack or devilish ambush.
Wow that's a mighty huge map for me, since I've played my first and only game on a small map. I might try it after I have more experience with the game. As it is, I can't close a small map within a few hours yet. Might be because of that pirate base holding up a strategic point :(
Ooops... internet messed up.
Oh ok. The thing is, like I said, the AI have already colonised every other colonisable planets/asteriods. The rest are asteriod belts or some other uncolonisable instances. However if I wipe out every base, will the pirates be gone forever or will they still pop up?
I started my first random small game on 1v1 with a CPU. I was playing TEC. After around two hours, my expansion was stopped by a pirate base in the way. Because of this, I warded off countless raids for hours while the other faction colonised every other planets and asteriods. After a while I've researched enough techs to build an effective fleet. I sent my main fleet of around 30-ish ships to the pirate base, with a level 10 capital ship (the Kol class) and a last minute tack-on of a level 1 ca
