since when do you have to buy an ip address anyway. Plus you can change your ip address on your machine whenever you feel like. Its not like you have to buy a domain for each ip address. Plus like I said I was just whipping up any ol' explanation for the numbers. ps. when did i say I was a critical thinker?
1. Would download and upload using their OWN money. 2. Cause a perception that piracy is rampant so that: 3. They can spend more of their own money on DRM?!
No the company selling the drm software wouldve done it not the maker of the game...... To Raistlin... Hey man you asked for an explanation of the numbers so I gave you a story to do it. Don't hate on the story man. That being said the story I gave wouldn't be completely
So let me get this straight. You’re accusing stardock (or GPG) of creating bots to add to the infamous server woes that demigod experienced at launch
I was saying the owners of the DRM software did it not stardock. So they could sell more of the drm software to developers. I'm not saying it was definitely true but not out of the realm of possibility especially with the numbers that were put up and the timing of it happening right after a game without d
Actually it says 120,000, but also the 2 weeks before that Sins was the top seller with no anti piracy on it as well. Makes me think the makers of DRM put up some bots to continuously download and try to connect to sell their software after Sins dominated sales without it. It makes me very suspicious especially since Demigod was an online game where pirates would know beforehand that they wouldn't be able to connect so wouldn't bother with it.
Present me a PC that can run Crysis at maximum settings for less than $300.00 and I'll conceed the point.
Since when does the 360 play anything that looks like the pc on maximum settings. I just built a quad core with an ati 5750 vid card for 600 for someone. I can easily build a high end dual core with that same card for about 400. That pc will play crysis at maximum settings at least 30 fps. Plus you have to remember tha
I dont see how there is any difference of pirating losses between pc and consolesto Anyone with a Dreamcast could tell you that there isn't. There were pirated versions of almost every xbox and ps2 game available to find to play on the dreamcast. Lets not forget those nesterDC and GenesisDC discs everyone passed around. The 360 and Ps3 are both hackable as well. Pirating is just something they hide behind instead of the real reasons for going to console.
Do either of you Honestly think that when/if the time comes for the Human Race to start colonizing other worlds that they're going to take the "Average Joe" along for the ride? Sure they'll take the "Average Joe Laborer" along to build things before the main-stay of the population get there. Maybe some of them will be let in by default since they helped build the colonies, but, for the most part I'd be willing to bet everything I own right now that anyone and everyone who's chosen to g
He quite possibly did, but maybe realized it wasn't what the market needed. There are plenty of full-fledged tablet PC's out there, the reason they don't get attention is because nobody really wants them
The only reason people want the ipad instead of the other tablets is marketing. Most non tech people havent even seen a tablet before the ipad. When is the last time you have seen a commercial for the archos 9 on tv? Oh yeah never. Steve jobs made sure every news outlet
Relatively expensive ($550), W7 SE (can it join a domain?)
How is it relatively expensive when the Ipad wifi is $850? Especially since the archos has twice the storage capacity, usb ports, webcam, built in stand, and streams to your hdtv etc.
The iPad, and devices like it yet to reach the market, will have great utility not only in serving up consumer content, but also as terminal-like devices for delivering commercial/professional content as well as accessing and creating documentation.
These things have existed for 15 years(ATM machines, Point Of Sale machines and medical applications) and haven't gotten rid of the windows desktop yet. Of course the biggest problem with the ipad isn't its fun
When I say "instant" on I mean just that. Instantaneous. With a typical laptop, it has to "sleep" unless it's plugged in and bringing it out of sleep can take several seconds.
So ADHD wins again? I don't see how getting shiny stuff on a screen a few seconds faster can be better than over all functionality.
Valve claims 10 million active, about 25 million total.
This still doesn't show how many people are actually buying from steam.. I have an active account but have never bought through their online service. I was made to have an account through supreme commander 2 and LFD2 of which I bought both retail. They are just trying to blow up their numbers since many people flock to the place where most others go. they want people to say "Wow that many people
Kinda funny how they keep saying that piracy is affecting pc game sales. In the last year consoles grossed 15 billion with the inclusion of sales of the consoles. That's 5 billion per system if divided equally. Pc games grossed 4 billion and that did not include the sales of pc's. This means that there is a possibility that pc games sales are actually higher when the console hardware sales gets excluded from the equation. They are just flapping their gums
Steam & Impulse are the same way. Buying it used = screeewed
Actually you can resell or give your copy to a friend with impulse. You just have to call customer support to get the activation put onto their account instead of yours. Don't think steam has that option but, hey I already don't buy games from steam ,gamestop or EA since all three have major drm ,compatability issues(steam)or other bad business practices. Don't see why people even buy used gam
Not true - even with Steam you can easily install mods to the game yourself (downloading from the mod site, and installing it yourself
Actually if any of my friends buy an rts off of steam they can't use my custom maps. Also steam likes to make people pay for mods and such. Kind of kills some of the advantages of playing a game on pc.
YEAH RIGHT!!! LIKE MAYANS EVEN KNOW WHAT A COMPUTER IS
What do you mean. They not only had computers but also machines that could send neutrinos through space and time to mess with the Sins forums.
LIES!!!! This was DEFINITELY intentional!
It wasn't me the Mayans did it!!!!
[double post
It's just a figure of speech buddy-
I know was just being a smart ass. As for the gamma ray bursts and the other whacked out ones I really meant that there is no astronomical evidence of that stuff but the doomsday people just throw that in as other ways the earth can be destroyed even though the mayan calendar doesn't mention any of that. It only shows the cycle of going through the galactic center. This does not mean that something ba
From what I've seen they did predict the galactic alignment. The only reason we added it on now is because we just found out that the baktun was connected to that cycle. Gamma ray bursts I have never even seen tied to the 2012 theory. Except that really corny one they put on discovery with the 2012 movie commercials with it and didn't even mention the galactic alignment in it might I add. I almost wonder if that one was put on just to try to shut down the real theori
Warcraft III changed things up considerably from Warcraft II and became it's own game and it worked a treat;
Thats because warcraft 2 was horrible therefore easy to change for the better. Oh and as for the game mechanics being copied they were actually copied from CnC which is before starcraft's time. But I still personally prefer this type of game play and don't think that supcom is any different really. You still harvest resources and build and upgrade
Having played the original so many years past, it will be interesting to try out. I look forward more to the mod work that will be done rather than online playing against insanely better opponents. My son is enjoying SC1 as well so network games with him will be fun.
There won't be any LAN support for SCII so don't bother looking forward to that. DRM sucks Also after 12 years you think they would be able to make a couple new factions or at least some sub
- Kohan: Ahriman's Gift or Kohan II: Kings of War
I put a vote towards those too..Very good games EU3 is slow enough to almost be considered turn based. its the pace of Sins if not a little slower.
I once had a 600 CD library... I later found out only 1/3 of them work... I have been using ZFS raid as long term storage since. My warcraft disks? corrupted (and not a single scratch on them), my starcraft disks? gone... my red alert disk? corrupted... etc... 16bit installers and incompatible DRM aside, the physical media itself has a limited shelf life
Sounds like your cd player or storage is too close to your speakers or other magnets. &nbs
