Well, on the map derelict they did a weird little thing where that is not the case, it is a multi-star system. And yeah it is really annoying and makes for some strange pathfinding. I'm not surprised he had problems with it, I don't know that the game handles multi-star systems very well (not to mention the second star is almost below the first one so the phase lane between planets from each is almost vertical, which also leads to some strange pathfinding and unusually fast phase travel).

I believe 1.1 is scheduled to have nicer textures, but I'm not 100% on that. I'm hoping so too, thats one of my favorite things about this game, looking in on the pretty battles.
Thats really strange. I didn't have that problem (I'm running 32bit Vista). That being said you can figure the game out without tutorials, but it will be really hard for a while. Wish I could be more help, I know there are known problems with certain nvidia cards, have you tried updating your drivers?
I've gotten the space ponies planetary "resource" at least 3 times already, do you maybe not explore planets very often? The best way to get it is if you are about to win, stop, explore all your planets, and then go in for the kill.
Then, quite simply, this is not the game for you. -- Retro I don't think this is an adequate response to a legitimate criticism. It is well known and established that sins was released early for commercial reasons, and things such as 'end game sequences' and a single player campaign would have pushed the release back further and hit profit margins, or so say some involved in the development and publishing of sins.
I believe Retro was responding to Retribution_666's off-to
Yeah you have to be a pretty big jerk to piss off people on this forum, and your just asking perfectly reasonable questions. People here are really good at answering questions, I think everyone understands that there is a lot to know about Sins of a Solar Empire.
Well, culture is important for allegiance, if your enemies have culture over your planets those planets will lose allegiance. If you have culture lines over them their allegiance will increase. However distance from the homeworld caps allegiance and if its really far away it can get pretty low (the advent have a tech that ups max allegiance on all planets). If you allegiance is down at like 40% or your losing planets because of allegiance its not because its too for away.
Game Length: When people refer to playing a game that takes months or days, they mean they are playing a long game in short installments. You can save both single player games and multiplayer games easily. When a multiplayer game is played it saves it on all computers (I'm pretty sure? it does when using hamachi) and you can even change who controls a specific faction when you reload, or replace an absent person with a computer. However there aren't any maps packaged with the game that ca
Thank you very much for this, its one thing to know the damages and sectors for the ships and have them in a chart, but its really nice to see it all laid out like this graphically. I can't wait to see this site grow.
I bumped a post over in the technical forum on the subject but I thought I'd bring it over here to the general where I think it will get more discussion. I, and apparently at least one other person, has had a problem when using the domination (Level 6 Rapture Battlecruiser ability) ability on a Crusader with the 1.5 damage/sec aura upgrade where that damage is applied to all your units as opposed to the enemy's. This is the most glaring problem with the ability but the whole thing is a l
Yeah, when trying to get the Archaeologist achievement (collect all artifacts at once) I got 2 of many artifacts and 3 of some(200+ planets). I never noticed them stacking but I didn't think to look. I got the one I was missing on the second to last planet I could take over. That achievement is ridiculously annoying.
I was going to make a post on this myself, but I searched the forums and found yours, why isn't anyone responding to this. Domination has a couple other problems as well, like they continue to do orders the original owner told them to do until told not to (they will retreat with their former allies if you don't grab them quickly enough). This is something that needs to be patched as it doesn't seem particularly difficult to fix.
I figured out that it's the number of targets that upgrades with the level ups, its just not noticeable because malice is lame now, and its kinda hard to get that many people grouped together and actually notice the difference. Ah well, the shield ability is pretty awesome too and the advent have the most useful colonizer anyway.
I'm perfectly fine with malice being nerfed a little, but I'm pretty confused about how its supposed to work now. Nothing changes about it in the description when it levels up, and I'm not really sure when and why damage is applied. I know it was supposed to apply all the damage at the end of the duration according to the 1.05 preview, but I haven't really noticed any damage being applied ever. Has anyone figured this out? Especially the strange level up thing.
Thanks for the extremely informative reply!
Hi all! I got Sins of a Solar Empire about a week ago and I've played it way too much. I've got most of the stuff down but I'm a little confused with a couple of things. First of all, shield mitigation is a little confusing to me. It goes up with the number of enemies attacking the unit correct? Also, if something has say 60% shield mitigation that means 60% of the damage to their shields is ignored, correct? A couple other things, I see people mentioning things about the lore of the
