yea sorry about the delay guys, I've been having some real car troubles and spending all my free time at my buddy's shop trying to sort it out. I'll get back to you guys ASAP when my car is running again.

For what it's worth, we can dedicate posts upon posts upon posts to 'why MP is dying' or 'why ICO sucks' or what have you, but it's just pissing in the wind. Until we can get an active community interested in preserving the online aspect, we're F'ing ourselves up our own arses. I'll be in contact with Gamereplays.org and see if we can open up a Sins of a Solar Empire section, which should help new and interested players immensely, along with attracting attention to the game. If not
In an effort to improve the online play for everyone who frequents Sins, or even those looking to start from the beginning, I personally will pledge to help at least a couple new players a week on behalf of clan [DT]. This ranges from sharing replays, offering advice and build strats in a chat window, and playing 1v1 games where I walk the new player through common but effective strats and show them the important aspects of the game. You don't even have to be a 'total noob' to sign

Some say 'the Hawk' scrotum has its own small gravity field... [/quote] if BIA wants clan matches we're more than happy to accomodate. Just let me know who will be participating and when, and we can work out the fine details like map size, 3v or 4v etc etc... We can even come to terms on how to
Good morning/afternoon/evening gents, this is CoN from [DT]. First off, I wanted to say that I'm glad to be back for good and also glad to see that the community is still around and kickin'. We're a small but tight bunch who play Sins, and there's no doubt in my mind that we're a step above your average RTS player. Now on to business. If there are ANY active clans left, I formally challenge them to a clan match in either a 3v3, 4v4, or 5v5 setting on an appropriate rand
Pretty Funny Kyrein. I'll pit my Javelin against your tank with supercomputers any day of the week.
THE ULTIMATE NOOB STRATEGY GUIDE!!!*** Play online.
one quick work around idea would be to have the Sins games hosted by ICO remotely from a server, so that not only everyone could host, but lag wouldn't be as much of an issue. Now, not only does a person need to have the ports set up to host, he/she also has to have an internet connection capable of supporting 3-10 different players.
Uh, once, in my relatively isolated life in my mother's basement, I spent 9 hours straight building a fleet of 20 Kols, 300 cobalts, and 1 Kodiak Heavy Cruiser to act as a scout for my fleet (Since he's beefy). Long story short, I steamrolled the easy comp I was playin dude! IT WAS AWESOME! L33T haxxors ROFL!
one of the focal points of a team game is resource sharing. If your buddy got attacked and you're sitting over in relative peace and prosperity, then give him some extra resources so he can build more ships! Once he's overpowered the attacker and moves on the offensive, he can give you his extra, etc.
one thing that you missed with your fleet calculations, to the second above poster, is that if the enemy does 800 dmg or so, they kill the assailant, for example, and remove that DPS perminantly from the equation. 800 dmg to a capital ship just mars the shields a bit. Also, capital ships can purchase ugprades, which, although expensive, offer more unique abilities, armor, HP, shields, dmg, etc, on top of the weapon/hull ugprades in the tech tree. Another thing you aren't
to be entirely honest, any TEC fleet that has a large number beside the word "Cobalts" shouldn't really be listed as a herioc victory of epic proportions. I can't think of one reason to ever build cobalts, aside from 2-3 early on to help kill defenders on planets. Other than that, the LRM is cheaper, does more damage, and has way way better range. Just as a constructive criticism comment, I would, in the future, stick to two ship types that compliment each other really well (in the
Anyone who wishes to make such baseless accusations is more than welcome to play me a 1vs1 after 1700 PST. I will gladly put your foot in your mouth if you win. Ask anyone I regularly play with, including violator666, PappaSmurf, ravok12*8 (can't remember exactly), or anyone in my clan. I, in team games or in 1v1's, lose very very very rarely, and not due to stacking teams. I'm always (as the above people will attest to) looking for a good challenge. I have 100% confidence that the
CoN here, or (Hopefully still) the leader of DT. I think everyone here is missing one point. Drumroll. It's a game As such, it's supposed to be entertaining. Now FFAs or 1v1s or etc are entertaining, but playing with people who you know and play with often adds a new element to the game that's even more fun: Team management. No longer is it about getting XYZ unit out super fast to win the game, but now it's about helping your buds and accomplishing c
I think that everyone missed my point from what I read, which was starting TEC off with TWO FREE CIVIC LABS lol. That might be a little extreme though. Perhaps cheaper and less slot heavy trade ports for TEC? I could see that through a storyline perspective as well. I think we can all agree that TEC need a boost. The Akkan is crap comparably speaking, the econ has no advantages, and the only fleet ship that really shines is the Kodiak.
Harassing and raiding works best in an RTS where even the basic extractor doesn't have 2500 HP. In age of empires, you could kill a villager here or a villager there and it would have a significant impact on his economy, because it took about 20 seconds to kill an unguarded villager. In Sins, by the time your raiding force gets the extractor to half health he's already jumped his ships in and is about to take out your raiders. Now you might get the extractor at the cost of a ship or two
Noobs giving noobs advice. Vasari econ not good? Slow starters? Uh, did their assailants get put as a Tier 4 tech while I wasn't looking or something, or are they still Tier 1? Sounds like they're pretty fast out the gate myself, especially since they're widely known as the "rushing civ". Do yourself a favor and disregard most of the above posts about vasari. Am I being cocky? Yes. Am I going to give you better advice here in a minute than about 95% of whats above? Yes.<b
most of these tips are actually pretty good, not something to be expected from someone with only 40 games. Just to add on, a few of these tips are very situational. If your enemy is 6-7 jumps away and you had to build two civic labs for all those volcano planets near you, building a couple trade ports as TEC isn't really that bad of an idea. All that extra cred will help with that kodiak spam that should be coming. Now for those solely feeding their buds in a multiplayer game as T
yes, but isn't focus firing on the guardian giving the rest of the advent fleet 100% damage shield mitigation for that period of time instead of just 33%? :p
Same thing here. Pause is essentially just another key now lol.
I think a creative cap ship ability would be a speed boost in a radius that lasts for X amount of time. It would let your ships escape a nasty battle, blitz past defenses, or rush into the breadbasket of an enemy civ.
This is one report without any credible evidence what so ever. While the input is appreciated, I'm sure that this is hardly anything to take to the bank.
It does make it particularly hard to test the balance of certain units when the whole game is thrown out of wack with a new superunit. I'd say that carriers easily eclipse the Illuminator as far as unbalanced goes with this bug.
I scuttle the capital ship factory myself, because the early game credit boost means much more than having a capital ship factory sitting there taking up my precious logistics slots. I also sell the 100 metal because the early credit boost is needed to get both the extractors cued, the cap fac made, two scouts out scouting as soon as possible to find the roid and worlds, and the infra upgraded ASAP. This way, zero time is lost. Plus, most asteroids have two metal extractors and just one
We're not mixing a drink here, we're playing a strategy game. In strategy games, you typically employ a little adaptability and adjust as necessary, coupled with proper scouting.
