The AI goes pretty crazy with mines. The Vasari oppenent I mentioned above had put down probably 900-1000 mines at a single one of its planets (after clearing at least have I thought to take a screen shot which shows ~460 in the empire tree). The planet gravity well that was full of mines was a choke point to the rest of the planets. I havent checked the other planets in the system, to see if it was the AI smartly fortifying that point or just spamming them everywhere. Some way there ne

I play vasari and the problem was when cleaning a TEC mine field, my scout was in range to reveal the mines but they just kept phasing in and out so when i told my ships to fire at the mines, they phased out so my ships stopped the attack, this happened several times and was really annoying, clear that mine field (10 mines aprox) took me like 20 mins, definitively a mood killer, while having to keep two ba
The homing mines also only home on targets within a certain range... they won't chase something clear across the gravity well, so the ones stuck around your hangar will stay there unless something comes after them. All the more reason to catch them before they auto-deploy and put them near the phase lanes.
Yeah, since your previous post I've found that I can move them initially after first exiting the hanger. It would be nice i
Regarding using the mine-laying ships... I found the best way to use them is to set them to autocast and queue up a zigzag pattern in the area where you want the mines. Then just leave them to follow the path and drop mines as they go. If you group a few ships together, you get a pretty nice, dense field of mines. I like the mine laying ships much more than I like the mine-squadron method. The squadrons are a real pain t

I've experimented with all three races to this point, and started a longer game with the Advent now. If starbases stay as they are powerwise, then I think the cost is probably about right. Also I don't think it's wrong that you can build one per gravity well if you want, though I don't see the direct benefit unless you have nothing else to spend resourses on. I do like the idea to have the constructors built by capital ship factories, and I wouldn't be against a cost increase IF the ran

I'm playing as Advent in a current game. I think the homing mines are broken. I've noticed that after coming out of the hanger newly made they will home on enemy ships, but after sitting a while they just stop working and cluster around the hanger bays, no longer able to home on enemies should some come into the system. Anyone else have this occur?

Not a lot of information to go off. The game does seem to load slower than the previous version for me though. Did it take long for you before, maybe you need to wait longer? If not you may need to reinstall. Does it crash? If so send the dump to ironclad support and they maybe able to work out the problem. Good luck getting your problem solved!

I haven't had a chance to play Entrenhment very much yet, but I have started and gone far enough to get starbases and mines up with each race. I agree that starbases need a little more offense, they are able to hold there own due to the high shields and hull, but are slow to damage the enemy (at least in the little time I've spent with them). I think they need a major range increase - except maybe the Vasari one that is able to move. I actually haven't found mines to be very eff

Currently I've only got one (Advent) starbase up. It's in a star's gravity well, and nothing has tried to attack it yet. Some Vasari ships leaving the system passed by out of its range though. So far I think the range could be upped some. Also, what's with the tick shape of the new ship? I haven't checked out the other races new stuff yet, but it makes me wonder how they are shaped.

My guess is shortly after they get the sync issues resolved with the 1.12 patch. Not sure the status of that though. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

I haven't done completely random maps with it, but you can place planets, asteroids, etc as a random or weighted random object. Also you can have phase lanes have a chance of connection rather than a set "for sure" connection. It's really pretty easy to use, I think anyway. It does put the work on you to place things and make connections. If you want a completely random map I think you probably want to go the way you were initially thinking and turn off the specific research and

One way to only allow travel by wormholes is to not connect anything to any of the stars. No phase lane to the stars means no traveling between them. I've made a couple maps in galaxy forge that worked this way. I can't help with second question at this point, I've only used galaxy forge and not modded the game play at all.
God I hate the "Bush was no conservative" meme. Bush followed the same policies Reagan tried to follow - without a democratic congress to act as a check. That's the main difference between the two. But there's this myth of a 'conservative' president, that, like the easter bunny, would shit chocalate covered balanced budgets out, unlike them dam' tax and spend librul's. Of course, no one has ever seen this mythical, nay, myst

I am disappointed in the results of our last election, not in that Obama and the Democratic party won but in the fact the American people didn't wake up and realize that our freedoms are being stolen from us. The choice in major party candidates offered no real chance for change. Also, Bush was no conservative (he increased government and spending). Unfortunately I think that America is going to dabble in socialism (really we already are, our market is not very free - the govern

I as a few others mentioned was shocked to see that congress didn't pass the bailout. In my opinion, it was a bailout, the only way they could make money on these is to buy them cheaper than the banks want to sell them (which wasn't going to happen, so the government would have lost money in the end). I don't think that the bailout would have helped the credit markets anyway. Hopefully, this thing doesnt get shoved down our throats the next go round. It amazes me that the

The best part is that I have not seen a single person say that this bailout will solve the current crisis. My bet is it will be $700 billion dollars down the drain. This country (government, companies, and individuals) has been living outside it's means for far to long (thanks to easy credit). Now Wall Street and the Fed are holding it hostage.
