@a110: the fixed upfront cost is high and you need multiple phase stabilizers (min 4), but the credit / resource cost is way more efficient than building yourself. It varies but usually it is 2:1 bang for the buck in favor of RA. Still you only get some types of units. Btw are Enforcers really that bad? I tend to avoid skirmishers but are enforcers in the doghouse to the same extent?

I second that about plasma storms and SBs (sadly you can't build an SB in a magnetic cloud at all). But a Transcencia or a fully load Orky in a plasma storm is rough to deal with. Forces the enemy to go around.

Thanks for the feedback Phoenix. You make a good point that a domina is really more about the disabling ability than the healing one. I am not sure I understood your reply to question #7, could you clarify? Also I am not sure what you mean by accustom a flak to a destra. Do you mean that I should right click each flak to a particular destra? Or a right click a group of flak to a group of destra? Does that make them follow the destra all around? I'll try out you

Well here is another replay vs cruel AI. This one was 1 v 1 as Vasari on a small map (pirates inactive, quick start, large fleets, all other rates normal). http://rapidshare.com/files/415972288/Vasari-Cruel-1v1.rar I tried to save each 30 mins at first since I was paranoid about dump crashes that might ruin the recording. Oddly enough I never crashed once this game. I wonder if it was because it w

Just wanted to say thanks for a great mod. Just played a huge map with 5 stars vs 9 Cruel AIs. Three hours in and I was running a sleek 480 MBs with TSOP v0.07 for Diplomacy + the cargo ship reduction mod. Sadly I still got bit by the huge CPU slowdown and had to call a halt to it as I was getting like 2 fps on x4 speed. Got so bad I had to keep hitting pause just so the program would actually recognize a move, combat or build order. Still TSOP did its job most excellently. So kudos t

Thanks for the advice DirtySanchez. I have played some online before but my connection is very poor so I drop often. I'll see if I can get Comcast to stabilize my connection. I am paying them good money for it after all. It's kind of odd though since playing other games online I never had any issues. Have to see what I can do ...

I often tend to break out my support vessels (guardians, overseers, subverters) out of my fleet and use ctrl groups. Then after a battle is won I reform them into the fleet to jump. I do this because I hate all that 'reforming fleet' movement during battle which really wrecks subtle positioning. Anyways, one time I had forgotten my overseers and subverters were split out and jumped the rest of my fleet into a heavily fortified gravity well. I had scouted ahead and managed to jump my f

Yeah I've tried all the suggestions regarding Vertigo ... to no avail. I will make sure that the Kortul is facing correctly next time I do volatile Nanites. Edit: The Kortul direction made the difference, Thanks. Now for vertigo ... grrr

You are most welcome SithLordAJ, I just wish I could have provided more continuous blocks in the two Advent games. And yes I do already use the Large Address Aware program (though with TSOP mod it makes it kind of moot). My game is quite stable so long as auto-record is turned off (with or without TSOP). The only times I otherwise had issues were when watching other people's replays. Then sometimes I would randomly crash (which would be very annoying if near the end).

Just a quick note. All replays are played with Diplomacy 1.011 but also with the TSOP (The Sins Optimization Project) Mod from Major Stress et al. Not sure if it will affect viewing the replays. Note that my frequency of crashing with auto-record on before and after my full re-install was unaffected as to whether the mod was unable or not.

Sigh I still can't get Vertigo to trigger manually. Same goes for Volatile Nanites on Kortul. I have to enable the ability and hope it goes off and then disable it so it doesn't spam. I click on an appropriate target in range and nothing ever happens. Quite frustrating.

Well even though seems there isn't much interest in my Advent replays, I am posting a vasari cruel replay for completeness to prove a the point that playing Vasari is much easier (at least for me) in the current version of Diplomacy. Same conditions: 3 AIs, cruel, FFA, medium map but with unlocked teams and large fleets with pirates inactive. This one was fast start but still normal rates. The link is http://rapidshare.c

if Advent: TK push for strikecraft, mothership for shield recharge, guardians, guardians, guardians (bubble + repulse) and your own LRF or HCs depending on your state in the game. If you are talking about early game in specific then lead with Halcyon(s) and kite as your strikecraft attack and hope your opponent is stupid enough to let your disciples attack his LRF untouched (yeah right dream on). If Advent vs Skirantra in the hands of a skilled player, then your best bet

Let me tack on another question but this time for Vasari. I am finding my hangars protecting my Orkuluses (Orkuli?) are constantly out of antimatter. Does it make sense to not build any strikecraft and just let phasic trap take over?

Hi all. As I mentioned in this thread https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/390953 I finally managed to beat cruel AIs playing as Advent. Alas I did not have auto-record on that game whatsoever. Too bad it is was more elegant than the two I will be posting here now. Both of these games were random medium maps with 3 cruel AIs (edit: FFA) all at normal speeds and pirates inactive. For the sake of efficiency, let

Just wanted to get people's opinions on a few topics involving Advent-related abilities / ships. 1) What are people's thoughts about Domina Subjugators? I find them hard to use and to micro properly in the battle ball. And their healing skill seems underwhelming in comparison to overseers (250 hull points + armor buff) and hoshikos (all ships in range). Also does their healing skill stack? 2) For the Rapture ability Vertigo, how do you use the ability manually in an ef

I have to agree with Greg30007, vs AI later on in the game I go heavy with bombers (or bombers only) since the AIs have mucho flak and lots of fighters always. At the end of the game if I have 80+ bombers (more as Advent) I don't care much about flak I care more to take out the key support cruisers and caps first and each bomber pass means something dies no matter what. In MP if there is LRM spam I go more balanced fighter and bombers then transition back to more bombers as the

"By default, auto-record is enabled. Check your auto-record list, it may still be there (note: if you save/load, the recording will be broken up into multiple smaller recordings)." Hmm I looked but I saw nothing. No files whatsoever. I have never seen anything there.I always assumed that was the default. I have had issues in the past watching other people's recordings or watching one I intentionally tried to make with the record button (by issues I mean

Sorry no I didn't. Maybe next time :) ------------------ On a side note, imho if the devs really wished to nerf illuminators so much and force Advent to first disciples and then carriers then it would have at least been nice if they would have made the drone host a little cheaper. They are so bloody expensive early on. But at least against the upper echelon AI they far outstrip a pack of disciples since they integrate better with static defenses. Bombers are so much more effec

Actually I have found LFs do serve a role. As AI cannon fodder. 10 or 12 disciples late game is cheap. Pack them in the middle of the battle ball, protected by guardian shield bubbles, repulse, and the mothership. The strikecraft targets the Destras but that is what TK push is for. I don't even bother to have the LF attack just sit with hold position in middle of fleet. Yes they die but they give you crucial time. So once they are dead, the AI suddenly realizes (or I guess it doesn't it isn't

Darvin and GoaFan you were both dead right. Had my first successful game as Advent vs three cruel AIs (synopsis in another thread; https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/390953 for those who are interested). Was a blast even though my starting map was hideous (volcano worlds anyone?).

Frontal Deflector is the da bomb! No seriously, it is amazing when used right. I am sure the little old Orkulus still wishes it could trade up for Mass Disorientation and Meteor Control but it is still a bang up ability. I guess I would go for option six or option six but with 4 defensive and lose the debris vortex. I often park some overseers and subverters nearby and them micro them as needed. Yes they can get popped but the time it buys me lets my fleet(s) get back for some
