Okay, I went and tested this out pretty thoroughly with several games against Monicle who ran the Illum spam both ways RA described them, one with a Halcyon equipped with Telekinetic Push, the other with a Malice and Shield Regen Progenitor. First off, I'm a dreadnought guy, I like to have them around because they have a devastating mass effect ability, for the TEC and Vasari for which I was running these tests... Theoretically, yes it can however the physics of a volume of gas going from a roughly 14.1 PSI environment into total vacuum and the kinetic energy associated with the gas's conformation to the Ideal Gas Principle far outweigh that of Solar Wind, because the gaseous density of solar wind is far below that of the ideal gas constant of .821 atmospheres on Earth, which has a 14.1 PSI pressure at sea level. Thus, while yes the molecules of solar wind pack huge amounts of kinetic energy, there are so

1. The Gas expelled from the pressurized gaseous environment (presumably circa 14.1 pounds per square inch) into a near total vacuum, one would see the gas moving rapidly in random directions; some to fulfill the Ideal Gas Principle, and others mving into orbit around the refinery and other objects due to gravitational and magnetic forces. Don't believe me? Check the transcripts and film for the first American space mission to put a man in Orbit, when he urinated the urine caused him to think th

But, it delays them nonetheless because unless an Illum spammer is an idiot he would have to cluster (relatively speaking) the illums around the Halcyon to protect them from fighter barrages or risk losing unprotected Illums, which reduces the threat of the broadside beams and consequently buys more time for your fleet. This is especially useful for the Vasari if you have the charged missiles ability for the Assailants. Strikecraft aren't the answer to Illums on their own because of the

1. Pirate attacks are useful for delaying the Advent as it forced your friend no doubt to focus on killing the Pirates early on rather than tracking you down and disrupting your economy. Later on, its useful to let the Pirates hit you for the exp for your Cap ships, however what I've found in 1 v 1s is that when your opponent ceases to up the ante in the bounty bidding wars, he is probably not so concerned with the pirate attacks as he is with you draining your credit reserves, which means you s

oblivion86 hit the nail on the head, I've played a number of times against a large number of unfair AI and decent human players, and without a doubt fighters are your most useful multipurpose weapon against their fleets. Microing bombers is essential at any juncture in the game because they aren't really effective against most of the earlier warships and can get fragged quickly, better to keep them in reserve to take out a cruiser (HC's specifically) or capship. The damage they do otherwise real

Well I've found that fighters ARE the answer to all the LRF spammers, because they either deploy a homogenous fleet with minimal anti-fighter assets, or they'll rush later on enough that Heavy Cruisers are becoming an option. Granted, fighters are the counter-by-a-thousand-papercuts which will take time to inflict credible losses, they do seem to do it in a much quicker fashion than flak frigates do. Even if there are some flak frigates in the LRF spammer's force, they still will lose a number o

The whole green bandwagon is a crock of shit. A marketing strategy, if you will, to seperate you from your money. Remember Y2K? Remember the Cold War before that? Think before you say something foolish. Global Warming is undeniable, but the contributions humans make to it is dubious at most, and if you think an Inconvenient Truth by Gore was remotely factual, then you are about correct. Of the panel of chemists put together by Al Gore in the making of the film, everyone of them has signed a lett
