Hi, Is the resolution in the game set the same as your desktop resolution? I found my game was crashing because of a difference in this.
Hardly2
I just want to add that I solved my problem with this game crashing. My desktop resolution was out of line (higher) than the resolution the game was running at. By switching the game to the same resolution as the desktop this fixed the problem.

My other point would be that I have run 3DMark2006 a couple of times without it crashing so I would question why it would be overheating in this game which is surely less taxing.
How do you check the temperature on your GPU? I wouldn't have thought my GPU would be the problem as I am playing it on low specs and my GPU exceeds the requirement.
I dont think that is true forging_ahead. I have found Vista to more stable than XP. It is a resource whore and I think that needs to be improved. I suspect the performance issues related to games like this are primarily because this game was designed to run on XP. Had it been made for DX10 I think it would have been better. Having said all that I'm still pissed it doesn't work properly on my machine.
Relatively new. Since about March. I haven't had issues in any other games except neverwinter nights. I had a couple of crashes in that in the menus but played for a few hours without an issue (except boredom that is). That said I haven't played a whole lot of new games. Mostly Civ IV and Medieval Total War II.
I feel your pain. Mine crashes and my computer locks up. Sometimes it crashes in the menus sometimes an hour into a game. It is fun while I'm playing it.
I dont know what it is. Although it is rather strange for the computer to lock up in Vista. With the exception of this game I have found it to be a very stable operating system. Not sure what to do about Sins. Hopefully future patches will deal with the issue. Would be nice if the developers got more involved in the discussion of these issue.
Funny that it met Microsofts standards but yet there seems to be an unsolved vista/nvidia driver issue since release.
I tried rolloing back the drivers that did not work for me. This is nuts. I dont think it is a driver issue how come my computer only crashes in Sins?
When I look at the performance monitor it says that my CPU is constantly going at 100% (~92% Sins). Now that doesn't make much sense. I'm playing the smallest map (7 planets) and it is early on. Now the requirements the game will work on: P4 1.8GHZ or above and Recommended is P4 2.2 GHZ Now I haven't checked the benchmarks but I'm guessing my Core Duo E 8400 that has 2 3GHZ cores should be more than enough to own this game? What is going on and why does

I have the exact same problem. I have a: Intel 8400 8800GT 512 4GB Ram 64 Bit Vista Permium Mine freezes and does a funny color thing on the screen. Almost like a green grid interspersed with the game. The game also appears to run slowly and occasionally it will just take a pause. I have turned down the settings somewhat but that hasn't helped much. I would have thought given the spec on the box my system would be running the game at full settings. I h
