I want to see the cooling design if nvidia ever try to put two of these together in the same card 500+ W of power drawn. Guess it would scale well though from the reviews i have seen. Unless nvidia have missed something minor that can significalty reduce power (heat produced) requirements i cant see the 4xx cards going much faster. 10 percent (20 tops) of preformance gamers have a rig that would not need significant upgrades to support the

I'm somewhat concerned about the 90c idle temps with dual moniters and the jet turbine that cools it. The thing that really kills me is how are you going to be able to sli these guys with a 200 degree heatsink 1/4 of an inch away from the back of the bottom card. I bet Nvijdya named it gtx480 because you need a 480 rad for each gpu. [e digicons]:D[/e]
I don't know why it happens, but if it is helpful this happened to me with with my 5870 Catalyst 9.11 when my memory overclock wasn't stable.
That was at most of the review sites, fudzilla is too full of crap most of the time for my taste, but had the shortest link and I can't CP.

Ummm, isn't that what we were talking about. Personally, I don't care much about nVidia's other offerings since I'm only using their GPU right now. I don't see myself going with one of their chipsets again I never got very good performance out of the last set I used, but that was quite a while ago.&nbs

My GTS 250 is really just a 8800 GTS with a smaller die and a faster core/memory clock. It's exactly the same card as a 9800 GT. If you don't count the 260 series as a mid-range card, they haven't made a real step forward in that venue for several yea

This was NVIDIA back with their 7000 and 8000 series, and then ATI's 4000 series. Competition between the two is important, or they get arrogant and start selling their mid-range cards for $300-400, instead of the $150-200 you see today. However, I dispise NVIDIAs business practices at the moment. Their constant rebranding to confuse less technica

But why would you overclock since if you have one of these beast machines there is no point until you find something it cant handle..
Why would you compare the gtx480 to the 5970? Ummm for those that lack a keen insight for the obvious, i would say that it's because they are essentially the same price. Why would I compare a $700 nvidia card to a $400 ATI card? Also, the 480 should damn well blow away a 5870 due to the significant price difference. For that matter why would you quote anything from semiaccurate? They were not kind to nvidi

Keep in mind that the new nvidia card is going to be $700 and it will be compared to the ATI $700 dual gpu 5970. The nice thing is that you are planning on waiting and the answer will most likley be obvious in a couple of months. They will release budget versions in the future. Person
The way I see it today is ATI has the best cards on the market, (5000s). March 26th that may change. The 5000s run cool, are very fast, and use little power. Nvijya g200 cards run alot hotter, use more power, cost more but have way better driver support and they do everything. I'd go ATI if you are gaming primarily, Nvijya if you let you box fold when you aren't using it or you use CS or something like that. Until the 26th, then everything needs to be re-evaluated based on what the GTX480,470
