I've had the same Thermaltake full tower for the last 5 years and the dimensions on the new full towers(last 6-8 months) are 30-40 percent larger.

The advantage with this is the driver downclocks when the card is idle. However it creates a problem with DS3 like I said. If I use the original XFX BIOS and edit Afterburner's config file to overvolt and overclock, it works fine but the card always runs at full clocks whether 2D or 3D or idle so I have to switch profiles all

I'm using a Radeon HD 5850, running the latest 10.2 drivers and the latest DS3 (v3.10). To reproduce the problem I had, set your desktop to the "Planktonic" dream in DS3, run a game (I used RE5) and benchmark it. Now, disable DS3 altogether and set a static wallpaper from Windows Explorer just to be sure. Then, run the same game and benchmar

The difference between the 1156 and the 1366 is that the latter will run the new i9 CPU's. In reality the 1156 boards perform really well compared to the i7 920 especially cost wise. 1156 = i3, i5, i7 (800 series), DDR3 dual channel, x8 SLI or crossfire 1366 = i7 (900 series), i9, DDR3 tripl

You'll get the same preformance as the Intel processor iCore processors at a better price. You don't get anywhere near the same level of performance from AMD, you just get a much better value and the performance is good enough (instead of ridiculous like a 975 Extreme) A core i3-540 is $139.99 at amazon (

I'm not a fan of the Core ix's in these types of applications. As awesome as they are, they have a much higher price to performance ratio and that performance isn't needed. I'm assuming he's not planning on running autocad or CS4 based on what OP said. Gaming, farting around interwebs, general computing (office etc) AMD is the way to go. More involved computing Intel, nvidya are necessary.

I've screwed with this alot because I like playing huge maps against AI and I know it can be a pain in the ass later in game where you see GPU utilization at 20 percent and you are getting 25-30 FPS. All I can say is it's CPU bottlenecking. Make sure your northbridge is working with the RAM not against. On stock clocks i can play a huge multi random game against all ai, then the FPS shat the bed about 4 hours in. (20-25.) Bumping the northbridge from 2000 to 2400, reseting mem timings to 6clk
