Low ring rate around gaz giants: In our solar system, all gaz giants have rings (That mean an quite high percent of gaz giants have some). You can turn it up! Just edit the Planet files in game info. I set mine to 0.500000, much nicer, if not realistic. Can you be more specific? Which exact file(s) did you do? And how did you edit them (Wordpad doesn't seem to open them properly)?
Should be PlanetGasGiant.entity. If it's opening with funky letters all over the place,

When it's done and they feel it's ready to be released. I imagine it's like driving a car with the kids in back going "Are we there yet?" every two seconds.

I would suggest uninstalling, then going through and deleting any files left over. Then trying to reinstall one more time. You may want to check the registry if you're a good enough user and see if anything is there. Course, I wouldn't recommend changing anything there on my advice, just looking. Also, make sure your computer can see all that RAM and hard disk space. That does seem pretty epic.

Hands down, Terry Pratchett and his Discworld series. I was sad when I ran out of them to read... I also like David Weber, Agatha Christie, earlier Tom Clancy, and Keith Laumer.

One thing about pirates is that most wouldn't buy the stuff they pirate, even if there was no other choice. They would just do without. Also, DRM basically says that everybody is a pirate. It took two weeks to get my copy of Mass Effect to work. Eventually, they told me to return it (How many retailers take back opened PC games at full price?) and to go get the Xbox 360 version. I was so angry at that point, I went and got a crack from online. In about ten minutes, the game was up and r
But what ticks me off is the randome file movement, and the constant "Alow this app" popups. The start menue is worthless and is very unorganized and difficult to use.
I've no idea what the random file movement thing is about, never encountered it. Popups sound like User Account Control, which can be turned off from the security center. Start Menu, I don't know how to get around that. Vista runs like a charm for me.

At 1 gig of Ram, you might as well get XP. More than that, and I recommend Vista. Especially if it's free. Even if you don't want it, keep the free stuff for later, or sell it if you're allowed to. :D
Every planet in our solar system has a ring, even Earth.
No it doesn't. Some think it had rings. The only planets to have rings are the gas giants.

Most of that (New ships/other stuff, animations for trade ship and extra cities) is more for an expansion rather than a patch. Sins is a pretty big game as it is, and patches are usually for fixing bugs and balancing. They are upgrading the graphics, though.
I cannot imagine that SD would allow this, but it would be great. They would lose control over the user. But if they did, it would interesting to see how many would use Impulse or would rather DL a stand alone patch. I would go for the patch myself, obviously.
In the end, it's probably going to happen anyways. It's also about making it easier for them to patch the game, not controlling customers.
I think Novalith is fine as it is, then again...I kinda like TEC, lol.
Well, as an Advent player mostly, having 2/3 of my worlds able to be one-shotted by Novaliths even when said worlds are fully upgraded would seriously unbalance the game in my opinion. Seige units (Marza X-() would also be like sudden death to all but the most heavily fortified of worlds at the edge of your empire. (Who hasn't gotten hit by an AI siege rush?) Don't get me wrong, I like the
