Im gonna say the reason we dont see this is for gameplay balance. And the Varasri do get a bonus for speed in their last armor upgrade. It redues the mass which makes everything go faster.
Escort mode- Escort a ship from point A to B. You could use the CtF ship as the ship that must be escorted. When that ship reaches the end(point B ) it has an ability to trigger a one shot kill of the other teams planet. I can explain it better on MSN if you wanted me too.

Thats a neat idea!! I favor this must be docked to replace lost SC. It would allow a well placed and well timed Flak Burst and Flak frigates to effectivly deal with massed SC. Without overpowering the damage output itself. Though I do think this should only apply to cruiser carriers. This is one advantage you could gain from using more Cap carriers in your fleet and may promote more useage from these caps. Another idea is having all carriers build SC 50% slower&nbs

Well, I cant sticky it myself. A mod would of had too. I did alot of promoting online too and with very little return. As You can see the deadlines has passed for the rounds and not 1 finished a game. I just dont think there is enough willing to participate for me to support a huge amount of time. This tournament was a test. And it failed.
