Isn't there also the slight problem that, given planets rotate, a ground based weapon is going to be pointing the wrong way at least half the time? You might have a fancy-pants rail gun set up in Europe, but that's not going to help if aliens are orbiting over Australia... Technical issues aside, there's also the problem of whether or not it's feasible from a lore perspective. Given all three races are space-centric - either through trade, nomadic culture or crusade - it cou

Easily Okami - the art, the storyline and, of course, the gameplay were all astounding, though while the combat was great fun, I'll agree it was too easy... eve on boss battles I rated badly on, I never came even close to dying. An honourable mention from my good self goes to the Guild Wars series (again, fantastic visuals and fast, accessible action, though the first campaign was a little rough around the edges), and Sins (for reasons we're all familiar with).
It's off-topic given the question regards 1v1 cap ship fights, but I always go the Kol when playing Tec. Yes, people note that missile barrage is easily the most powerful ability in the game, but I find the Kol's flak burst is the only way to stop strike craft - flak frigates take too long to wither down squadrons, and massing your own fighters isn't really a counter so much as just mimicking their tactic.
In Soviet Russia, the planet drains... Wait, wrong internet meme.
You know, both sets of videos are fantastic, but I'm going to have to go with Stalin v Martians for the simple fact that I can't quite believe someone, somewhere, has actually managed to make a game like that, and what's more get it off the ground. Where plants v zombies has some kind of marketability to it, Stalin v Martians appears to have just heaped the weird on instead, and somehow it kind of works.
The devastator and marza voice acting is hysterical! It sounds like they've let a pro-wrester take the helm, or something. I can definately empathise with the opening post. TEC are my faction of choice, though invariably I find myself building a Kol or Akkan first purely because they have the best voice set, and setting them to fleet leaders so I don't have to listen to others... Especially the Cobalt surfer dudes.
Rather than a true nerf, I’d just like to see the missile barrage ability made a little more visible. As it stands, it’s kind of hard to spot unless you spend the entire battle squinting exclusively at your enemy’s Marza, or you notice the sudden drop in fleet numbers (by which time it’s too late). </sp
Maybe not my latest disappointment, but probably my biggest... Dungeon Keeper 2. Yes, it's old news, but the scars haven't yet healed for me... A close second place goes to Evil Genius. And, just off topic a little, I personally love Left 4 Dead, but I would point out I got it when steam had its half-price weekend. I feel it's fantastic value for $25, but with a tiny spread of weapons, levels and items, I can see why people felt a tad underwhelmed. It probably doesn'
Originally, Benjamin Button's character was penned to be a conjoined quintuplet.
Whoops, double post.
Anyone ever see the old transformers movie (the cartoon version, not the live action)? There's a single, conspicuous swear word bellowed out about halfway through.
If I ever work out how to name my empire, it's going to be Empire of the Sun.
As noted above, you'll need to research wormhole navigation under your faction's civilian tech. There's also an artefact that grants wormhole teleportation as a secondary bonus, but it's probably best not to rely on that one. Also, in case you wondered, wormhole 'teleportation' is instant - unlike phase lanes, there's no travel time.

That is hilarious! Not sure if I believe the bit about it being linked to the anti-cheat system, but as noted above, only an actual programmer could really be an authority on the matter. I'm still slightly stunned that the gaming industry is coming to this - you have people who actually own a legitimate version of the game resorting to using cracks because of the mind-bogglingly oppressive security checks... and we're told this is apparently the new 'best business model'.
Don't get me wrong - there is a TON of stuff to love about the game itself* - but for me, the two really outstanding features of sins are its price tag, and the fact it spares us all the agony of DRM-locked software. It's fantastic to see a gaming product where consumers are actually prioritised rather than treated as a liability... as is the case with virtually every other gaming company in recent times. *For reference: the visuals, the slick UI and
You might unlock more guns, more special abilities, that doesn't necessarily make you more powerful than your foes, it just gives you more options.
Yes! Exactly! One thing that drives me mad about a lot of games with persistent elements is that high-end players are virtually unbeatable to newcomers, not because of skill levels but just as a matter of number crunching. There's nothing more infuriating than losing in PvP
To be honest, I’ve never found flak frigates on their own to be particularly great - they’ll ‘win’ against carriers eventually, but by time they really start to take affect, half your fleet is already dead. Admittedly trying to beat the Advent strike craft spam is always going to be an uphill struggle, but I have found there are a f
Anyone here a supreme commander fan? Tec = UEF Advent = Aoen Vasari = Cybran.
Wait, you can name your empire? I only just found out you could name planets and cap ships...
