the brazen act deserves an easy cheap counter. Build a starbase for vasari isn't nearly the risk as it should be.
I should have said "cheaper" counter. As it stands any counter to the vasari starbase in the early game advent is going to cost more then the starbase itself, which is where the difficulty lies.
And the Advent are, of course, the Masters of the SC.
Only in the early game. Late game the vasari airforce is the strongest. They get the most out of their upgrades and end up being very powerful.
I, for one, never try to counter LRF with carriers because fighters die ridiculously easily to enemy flak. The fighter squads might kill a few LRF initially but once the enemy gets a few flak in the fray your carriers will be rendered mostly useless. Or is that wrong?
It depends on the situation and race. Starting carriers are rendered relatively ineffective combat wise by starting with a few flak ships. Consi
Lets see how that works out.
Vasari lose, as they should in this situation(assuming turret movement upgrade). If the starbase is built outside of the turret range then the vasari might win as they can upgrade it safely until its very strong to go on the attack(assuming turret upgrade). For fun they can warp in ruiners or overseers to make the SB killing task all but impossible. to whittle your fleet to nothing. Once the SB has b
still, vasari bases do less dmg to illums than the other starbases do.
Hmm are you factoring in the 18 second weapon upgrade? that has a lot to do with my above argument, in fact it is a critical point.
Really, All I hear is: given equal cost monies, at low fleet supplies a starbase will beat a fleet. This is how it should be. It is like saying, my mass marines wont crack a turtling (pick other race here), please buff terran. Or saying my 4-gate isnt crushing my enemy every single time, please buff protoss. Or saying that those missle turrets are too effective against my mutalisks. plea... come on.
I would respond in addition to darvins post that the later the game goes, the more important time becomes, and therefore wasting time and resources on upgrading to destras puts your fleet at a temporary disadvantage and therefore your enemy might be able to get the upper hand during this period. If you play it smart and force him to come to you its okay, but he will build up illums and your destras will have to be in HIGH numbers to really take out that many illums. Over time yes
This testing was done using fastest settings, and normal fleet size. This is an assessment of combat capability of two races when facing each other, advent vs vasari. Considering everyone is gaining resources at the same rate, an analysis of mass cost vs military effectiveness will occur using total economic cost with a lot of practical battle experience added in to keep the rediculous battle math out of the convo so that this will be easily read by all. Everyone with ev
Yes, the advent who wins is the one with the most illuminators with the best upgrades. You don't have time to get an effective number of destras, and he who gets enough illums to kill the enemies halcyon makes themselves have the combat edge. So spam illums and more illums ftw!
Does anyone remember when the Illuminators were bugged and seriously OP? Now we hear whine about how UP they are.
I do remember when they were OP. They did need a nerf. they got one, sad thing is the game was playtested around that bug so the entire race has gone to heck. I play vasari and feel sorry for advent players who play against me because I know all their possible tricks and there is nothing they can do to me.

This focus is extremely valuable and you are constantly delegating this throug
Yes, I would say a buff to the revelation's speed to allow it to catch up to enemy capitals to make it a true counter would be quite nice. As it stands carriers can be well micro'd to avoid being disabled and therefore the revelations abilities are useless against them.
Fixing the domina won't provide that much of an impact for early game advent, so most multiplayer games will mostly not be affected. The guardian just needs a tweak, and adding phase missile reduction to the shield ability would make the advent at least able to stand longer against the vasari endgame fleet. Both fixes truly are more endgame. Early game economy is still quite weak, and both the TEC and vasari usually get a substantial economic boost over the advent.
If they could move at anything resembling combat speed I'm sure we'd see more Advent gravity wells filling their tactical slots with turrets.
It depends if the advent are under attack. A gravity well full of turrets would be inexpensive if they still cost the same. An abuse of an upgrade without an increased cost would be negligent, which is why I was thinking a cost increase would need to occur.
Turrets already provide a decent defense against bombing on asteroids, but I get what you're saying. Still, turrets are quite durable (ESPECIALLY with Advent shield -> shield mitigation bonuses) and do a listed 40 DPS. With shield mitigation and the advantages of focus-fire, 3 mobile Advent turrets would probably be significantly stronger than an unupgraded Orkulus, and would cost far less (though could only be build in owned-planet gravity wells). For this to work I think there
Actually i was just going over my saves last night and even the recent ones are all minidumping on me or freezing. These were full fledged games with no ICO interference on their completion. Im talking about ALL my saves. There is a definate bug here.
Turrets already do quite large amounts of damage. Even as few as 3 or 4 (mobile) would probably be enough to prevent enemy capital ships from ever being able to bomb without being seriously hurt, and would probably also be enough to destroy a SB before it finishes building. This sort of thing would give the Advent an extremely powerful defensive ability IMO. The enemy would have to bomb or Ogrov the turrets ASAP or the turrets would be on their flee
Make these defense platforms mobile around the gravity well as a deterrant for vasari starbases. I would say the advent have the hard, (impossible vs a good vasari player, with even a few neutrals) up cliff battle vs a vasari homeworld siege at any point in the game. Mobile defense turrets would go a long way in providing the advent some effective protection for when that starbase desides to attack your structures. This would provide the advent something militarily useful.&n
I finally beat my first legendary campaign a few months back,(as shimazu, surprise surprise) what fun!
