If you're playing against human opponents, prepare to get starbased! The possibility that your Vasari opponent will try to starbase you early on and how you would counter it at your home terran should always be at the forefront of your mind.
As sad as this sounds though, a good scout/disciple rusher isn't going to have many problems dealing with early, modestly upgraded starbases. Several tim

This game is the equivalent of a B grade movie that made it big. Somethings that aren't perfect you just have to get used to, or move onto the next game. I will say this though, Impulse is your friend after you figure it out. It is more then just a tool to download patches. You can use it to uninstall, reinstall, archive, buy the expansion packs which you won't see in stores and of course update games with the latest patch. I would speculate that the biggest prob
I play Vasari but don't usually do a mass Assailant rush, but on occassion when I do I find these tactics very effective against me... - Scout spam, especially with Advent but also with TEC. An army of scouts is cheaper and faster to build and will eat through Assailants when they out number them. - People getting their Capital ship out of there before I can destroy it. The combo of Egg and Assailants excel at killing cap ships early in the game. When it esca
I've been playing Sins for over a year and the one thing I have never fully understood is what exactly the relationship is between the Armor # a ship has and damage taken. I understand the concepts of light, medium, heavy, capital, etc. and ships weapons which do different damage %'s to such. But lets say that ship X has armor rating of 2, and gets shot by ship Y and takes 10 damage. Now lets say I research armor and increase ship X's armor to 5.&n
I'll chime in late here. I've seen people from every clan do this, and plenty of people who aren't associated with a clan. It is always the same. The game is full, someone pops in through the chat function and says something stupid like "room?", completely ignoring the fact there is obviously no room because all the spots are full. Thankfully I've also seen more and more people fed up with it and say no, or only be willing to boot an obvious smurf or someone who
Now that I think about it... Another problem with countering an illum spam with navigators is having enough frigate factories in the right place at the right time to build enough to out number the illums. Build them in the same gravity well and kiss them goodbye, build them too far away and you are constantly out gunned as your ships have to take time to fly in.
All of these suggestions assume one thing, that the person you are playing against doesn't take advantage of a ridiculously obvious counter. I remember wading through similar responses a couple months back when arguing that the advent scout rush is too powerful. (and even though Raging Amish says plenty about how that doesn't work that well the 4-5 I have played with him he has done a scout/disciple rush every time) When dealing with advent flak isn't going to get the job
Some of these ideas are mine, some are not but I agree with them anyway. Just thought I'd open up a discussion on them to see what other people think. Also let me preface this with I'm not a developer and have no clue if incorporating any of this stuff is in the least way practical. This is just me thinking out loud on what I think are some good ideas and holes within the game. In my defense I constantly have to deal with people like myself at my job. 1.&n
Using the Z axis to attack a SB is obviously cheating because if it was just "part of the game" then a TEC or Advent SB would be able to react to Z axis threats. For everything else I don't think the problem is so much that there is a Z axis, but that it is a poorly designed one and obviously an afterthought for the developers. Think about it, gravity wells are 2D, so is every map except randomly generated ones. Only in random maps will there be "Planet stacking" as
Down for me
I'll add my 2 cents here. This community is more "noob sensitive" then any other I've seen because of how few people play online. Other people are hitting on it when they make a difference between being a "Newbie" and a "Noob". Everyone started out not being that good. Some people leave games randomly, can't take advice, don't use ally chat after being told several times how to, go AFK during games (5 minutes into a game saying in open chat "don't attack me I've g
He was dropping the F bomb constantly and spamming as well, very annoying.
Pressing the F5 key will bring you up to the network menu and show you who is connected and disconnected. No it is simply when people are beat instead of leaving the game they just stay in. That way if someone gives up they get the win simply for being the last man standing.
Maybe I just didn't notice as much before, but it seems like going AFK is becoming much more common on ICO after this latest patch. What has happened to me twice now is in a team game when only one person from a team is still in the game, even if all his ships and planets are destroyed if he doesn't quit/surrender the game will continue. This will go on until every single one of his computer allies are destroyed as well. Shouldn't at some point ICO deem a player
Funny thread guys. I didn't make it all the way through, some hopefully I'm not bringing something up twice. Chuck Norris facts are funny, but I prefer Dos Equis "Most interesting man in the world", sort of a less famous latin Chuck Norris. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI58wj4b4g0 He once lost a SB, just to see it explode His Cobalts have killed more then a lesser mans Marza He
Let me expound on my last comment. I am done playing against either of those guys. The goal of the thread is to help other people save their time by giving them a heads up on who will waste it being a sore loser.
wow what a tool
You might not be able to answer this question, but were they German by chance? Seems like 9 of 10 german gamers only do comp stomps. Usually they are password protected, but if you enter the game via the chat channel, most are willing to let you join. I do it from time to time and have a lot of fun. Oh and they do enjoy having someone who is "skilled" with them :). So yeah it is a little funny (no arguement there), but comp stomps can be fun onc
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HYX8ED5S The replay says it all if you watch it. Sadly about the last 20 meaningless minutes are not there. I didn't realize when I clicked "save" it saved everything up to that point instead of everthing beyond it. The short version is we were in a 5v5, and after their entire team quit they turtled at one planet with no hope of winning, then after their last stand they sent thei
5V5 With LFFPicard, played to the last ship after his allies surrendered, it was obvious he had lost but kept telling us "he plays to the last ship" or something to that effect. kill junky85 same game all his planets were destroyed so he moved to the middle, built SB at the sun?? and then fled there after we destroyed his 2nd HW my allies and I owned 90% of the planets by this time and the game is starting to lag very badly. h
I play mainly online, but occasionally against a comp or two to try out new strategies. I've been around since 1.05 and the age of the mini dumps and even set up my router so I could host games. I can beat most people but still lose to the cream of the crop, so in a sense I've been around and know when I get beat by a better player, and know when I get beat by someone who has figured out how to exploit an unbalanced game. Which brings me too, the mass scout attack.... <
I've had fun playing with mods against the comp in single player, but is there anywhere that people get together and play online with Mods? I've rarely if ever seen people playing with Mods on Entrenchment. Thanks in advance. Adam
Thanks a lot, answered my question.
If I install the beta, is there a way I can go back to playing on version 1.05 so I can still lay people online without the new patch? I've searched around but can't seen to find the answer. Thanks much.
