My PC is a 'office' machine with crappy on board graphics hence the medium. Ran the original sins fine though. I played a few matchs with the AI set to easy so I could check out all the new stuff and found that once you have a starbase the easy ai's just decide to stay home [e digicons]B)[/e]

Turning the graphics options to medium solves the mini dump issue for me. Sucks but I am happy to drop the graphics for the cool extras. I like the bases and the small changes to the gui are noticible too.
Thank goodness its not just me! I will try turning down the graphics - if that solves it then I need a new graphics card :) So far I havnt even managed to explore the (obviously greyed out) defense research options which is damn frustrating but a good way to increase your anticipation!
The voice acting is cheesey but its made worse (misleading not just annoying) by how many alerts you get. Allies announcing they need assistance because one ship has entered thier system, new diplomatic missions etc - I simply turn off dialog in the sounds menu and keep my eyes open! Its a shame as the sound effects and in game music are pretty decent imo - although the guy who lives under me and my 350 watt pc speakers may disagree X)

Ursula Le Guin is perhaps my favourite sci fi author, her books set in the Hainish universe are awesome with The Dispossed as one of her most famous. If you like fantasy too you should check out her Earthsea series. Iain M Banks if you like space opera - his Culture

Hi I loaded Impulse today to nab the 1.1 patch and got the 3.4meg file in less time than it took to load up Implus! However it then shows me this dialoge: I have 1.08gigs free, its in the default C: location and havnt any mods so I am unsure as to where the problem could be. Vist
I normally skip through campaigns as an extended tutorial before playing skirmish or mp. I would not be interested in a SoaSE campaign unless it added a lot of new stuff to skirmish / mp as well. Its not really the right type of game for a campaign and I would rather see the funds and effort it would take to do a campaign go elsewhere - like fixing the AI ;) Here is how a SoaSE campaign would play out: The first three episodes would be a tutorial and introduce the main adversary with
My RSS reader showed me this: What exactly has been chasing the Vasari? Why are they on the run? The Vasari were conducting experiments on mammalian species discovered on a remote terran planet on the outer ring of the Vasari Empire. Isolated from each other, the captives did not appear to pose a threat with their aimable features and peaceful nature. Together the furry creatures possessed a power greater than the Vasari had ever known.</
Awesome! I thought it was just me and my wobbly eyes [e digicons];P[/e]
