Btw, I have a save for a huge battle but I can't really enjoy it much with the hub in the middle. The cinematic camera simply removes the fleet colours so it doesn't help much. Is there any way to make watching grand battles like this more enjoyable? I don't remember which game it was which had a cinematic option with which the camera simply left your control and started taking cinematic views on its own. At one point it would follow one ship up close, at another it would do a bullet
Everyone needs to be allied for an allied victory.
As, I see. That makes sense. That just means I need to kill the lone struggler, who was incidentally my staunchest ally in the rest of the game :) It's a pity you can't make other see sense and ally with each other.
I don't mind them working on it to have a finished polished product, but I don't like to spend money on something when they said it was going to be released in dec.
Where have you been hiding under the last decades? It's very common for games to be delayed. It's not a biggie. Think of it as you having more time to provide input to make the final result better.
Yay! I started a new game and I managed to win (sorta). I managed to make peace with 3 AIs and then defeat the other two, so I count that as a victory. However the game didn't end which tells me you can't really have a peaceful victory :-/ (I seem to remember that I managed it once though) The trick for me was the map, if you can get a bit of isolation and you don't begin smack in the middle of 3 others, you have a chance to avoid them until you can convince a few to join you.
I'd be very happy with a Mac OS market share of 20%, Windows 50% and Linux 30%.
I GNU/Linux achieves this market share then it will simply steamroll over Windows and Macs. The only thing holding it back atm is lack of program compatibility. Such a market share would mean that most companies would create their programs as mutliplatform in order to capitulate in all the markets. And once there is no app that cannot run on 'Nix, then its freedom (both in ethical and pract
Btw, I use the + and - keys to speed up and slow down the game. While it might take five or six hours to complete just one of these, in game time is usually somewhere around twelve to fifteen hours.
Ah, didn't know about this. It might help in battles and large empire managing
I see, I didn't really know about the scouting. I generally made three scouts and sent them to explore everywhere ;) I'll try to start another game and sit tight in a corner to avoid meeting everyone else :)
I did try to do the same, but I was certainly not the strongest empire (looking at the stats). How do you retain you alliances when the AIs ask you to either break alliances to do quests or go on suicide missions?
I just tried to play a FFA with 5 other hard AIs and I just found it impossible to win, this is mainly because all the AIs with which you don't have a Non-Aggression have you as a priority to kill. It does not seem like a FFA but rather like all against the human. The first such FFA I tried to play was a disaster. I had all 5 players simply assaulting me together in cooperation. In the next game I tried my darnedest to make as much alliances as possible. At the start when you can incr
Umm... As SuSE and Red Hat are operating systems rather than software packages, I don't really see the significance. You buy service, not the software...
You're just pointing out that even if the software is free, there can be a business model that takes advantage of that. Distro companies have discovered a business model that works. Game companies can do the same. The fact that you specifically can't think of it, does not mean it can't exist. People couldn't think of a
Its good to see someone else feels like I do. You guys keep saying static defenses are made to only stop small raiding parties but why not use them to defend. I would like my defenses to stop a medium fleet.
You'll probably love Entrenchment then ;)
strikecraft tend to about even out. Advent gets 3 for 2 squadrons, but they are weaker. Vasari have less ships in their squadrons, but those are much better armored and armed. TEC is an average of the two.
Does anyone else see this as a problem? The differences between factions seem very superficial and designed mainly to look initially different without having much of an actual distinction in gameplay. In the end it barely matters if you play with Vasari or Advent c
I couldn't agree more with Agent. We should have the starbases be as different as possible. Personally I could even go for one race foregoing starbases altogether in exchange for something different. It's probably too late now but even the very big similarities that exist in all races annoy me to an extent. Why do all of them have to have the same types of ships instead of going for all out difference. Blizzard does this all the time where no race has the same capability units or even the sam
Take this with a large grain of salt, but in my limited experience it seemed as well that they are severely underpowered. I understand that they are not balanced in regards to cost but I think that a fully maxed Starbase should be able to go toe-to-toe with a medium fleet with 2 CAPs. As it is right now, bombers literally slaughter them as they don't have much of an anti-strikeship capability and their damage potential is low. I think that an option would be to lower the cost
I think Omenowl's syuggestion is the best here. Let me reiterate it
Makes mines into minefields and allow the player upgrade them. This way it is similar to the st
Just to join my voice here and say that I too bought and installed Entrenchment (along with the normal game) without realizing it's a beta. I only figured it out from the loading screen. Fortunately for me there haven't been many bugs, Starbases and mines seem to work and game does not crash. It does feel a bit unbalanced though (mainly because I'm a newb and I keep getting my arse kicked by 5 AIs together) I'll probably uninstall and reinstall in order to play a beta-less game. Let's
