Updated 11/25/09 I noticed I was diddn't have an embasy with a particualar faction, so I sent an envoy cruiser to take care of it. About twenty minutes later, I opened the diplomacy screen and much to my chagrin I had no embasy there. The envoy cruiser naver made it, but it was still alive. It had gotten itself stuck next to an orkulus starbase... It would travel out a few feet, charge up the phase jump (the "portal" appearing behind the crui

I'm still a bit on the newb side of things, but heres how I run things. My first priority are the siege ships. Normaly, I'll detatch my LFs and send them after the siege frigs on their own. If that's not enough, the fighters lend a hand. But if I can't save the planet, or don't care about it, I'll just ignore the SFs. As for chosing particular targets, I go mostly by ship types. The HC's I mostly leave to the AI to control. The LF's do a loop arou

I'd like to have a bit more controll over how my fleets line up. Perhaps make a few preset formations instead of limiting it to that line/arrow formation thas in place now (although it does get the job done with a bit of micro). Perhaps something like a stretched out line or maybe even a semi-circle or V-shape. I obviously havent thought it out too thoroughly, but I thought I'd bring it up anyways.

The only way i think this could possibly work is if you kept the LFs behind the LRFs. Needless to say, that would be a daunting amount of micromanagment. And in the end, you're most likley to lose most of your LFs in the process. An idea would be to split the LFs into two groups and try and turn the enemy LRFs depending on who they focus-fire on and stay behind them that way. Generaly though, its best to leave LRM crushing to the fighters and HCs imho.

Yep, i think thats how they were ment to be used: as a tool of harrasment and distraction, something that they are already decent at doing. I'm not too keen, as some other have mentioned, of the LF becoming a strong fighting ship. However, they could use a bit more in the way of ability dissruption.

Let me start off by saying that I'm an advent player, and that I usualy play against a group of hard/unfair AIs. Personaly, I use LFs all the way up to late games. My fleets generaly contain upwards of ten or so LFs going into batte, and once all the fightings done, I've lost about three. I tend to use the LF's speed to put it into a figure eight motion that keeeps it from the enemy's firing arcs as much as possible. Generaly, they'll strike out from one flank, and circle around t
