I havent fought an Advent SB in exactly the conditions described but I have fought at least one really big one (17,000 odd Hull) - and only had 3 Ogrovs - but I had 3 caps - 25 odd Kodiak, 27 carriers, 40+ LRM, 20 odd Hoshikos and 20 odd LF and if lasted like 3 minutes.......

Can I also add that I share his annoyance. I have paid good money for a program I cant play and haven't been able to play for 4 days - WHY? I had to uipgrade from 1.13 to 1.14 - and then update Entrenchment to 3.5. Good - I did that - took hours as I share my internet with other people so just can't go - INSTALL - in Impulse and let it go - Then I discover Entrencment 1 is out - good - only I have to update from 1.14 to 1.15 - 766mb - again - fine - bit here - bit there - got it

I'm another one who was introduced to Sins by a pirated version from a mate. I have bouhgt both the Original and also the bought the Entrenchment Beta as soon as I realised I could. This is a good example of how piracy can be a bonus. AS I live in Australia a lot of stuff never comes our way - except over the internet. P2P is oftent he only way to get stuff - particularly music. AS far as games go - I find most games over priced and too limited in the approach/gameplay/expandabi

I find them very handy in entrenchment - especially as TEC - means I can build another SB - more trade - maybe a Frigate factory - had a game the other day - jumped through worm hole with constructor when the other guys was busy and got into the dead astroid nearby without him noticing - untill my 20 Kodiaks, 30 LRM and 15 carriers came out....... :)

There is another consideration with Siege Frigates - yes a Cap is better value than the same amount spent in Seige Frigs but it is also like using a credit card versus cash - you can buy a Siege here and a Siege there - while still streaming other ships - rather than waiting and waiting and waiting to buy a Cap.

I had a funny thing in Entrenchment - an Unfair AI surrendered after i Novalithed his Capital to 0 pop. Yet because I hadn't actually killed the planet to 0/0 the pop came back - but the AI had dropped out of the game - I had properly killed 2 planets with the Novalith but he still had 2 more I hadnt been to so couldn't clobber and a decent fleet I was fighting elsewhere

Nor mine - they are certainly less useful now but still very useful in the right situations - I played a game online the other day where my fleet was smalller but I had Persuasive Economy so could out econ them - I got into an attrition battle with one opponent and basically built ships faster than he could kill them or build enough reinforcements to counter my ever growing advantage (after a certain point) - he then retreated - I followed because I new ships streaming in from all over - and

I got crushed by a fleet that had like 1 battlehip, 6-7 Drones, 15 Illums and 50 Crusaders - chopped my Kodiaks (had 27) up in no time flat - ate my LRFs up in slightly less (37 LRF) - I also had 27 Carriers, 3 caps - 15 odd LF - Hoshinkos - nice balanced fleet - + repair bays and some upgraded turrets in there too - took him like no time flat - just nasty they was

I have had no problem taking out AI starbases - the best way is lots of carriers and let your fleet beat up on infrastructure but in a real hurry up situation I have never had a problem taking one down with a decent size fleet - losses yes - but if you watch your ships and move away important ones that get badly damaged before they go puff then no problem especially with loads of missile frigates and then add a bunch of normal frigates which charge in and act as the cannon fodder...... but st

I haven't seen unfairs build SB's in neutral wells either. I have an icon problem - the SB's and new specials such as Ogrovs and Mines don't show up. The build panels are blank - there is no outer zoom image only the close up zoom one. Anyone else having this problem?

Oh and on the mine issue - the game had TEC, Vasari and Advent AI - none built mines at all that I saw. And the icons for the VAsari SB and Minelayer didnt show up in the build screens nor on the overview of planet systems - you had zoom right in to see the actual ships/SBs

First and foremost annoying bug is that after going Quit - whilst the various buttons work fine letting me see Credits, Ships destroyed etc - once I press Main the game hangs 5 out of 6 times and the one time it does go back to the main menu (Single Player, Multiplayer, Options etc) it takes 5 minutes or more. Next bug - Mission failed to complete: I had to destroy 'X' number of ships of Sarak(?) Warriors - the number had fallen to 4 remaining when I had one of

Don't understand your problem Slabster - all games by definition are abstract or artificial representations of something else - especially fantasy of sci-fi ones...... Tactics/strategy in any situation whether a real military or economic situation or in an artificial 'game' are always built around capabilites and optimum uses of materials, equpiment, personnel and knowledge available and are therefore totally relevent to the situation at hand. What do air and fleet tactics hav
