I'm kinda new to Impulse, so I really don't know much about this place. If you could direct me to those fan submission sections, I would appreciate it.
to tell you the truth, I haven't been able to figure out how to get to there from the home screen yet, but I have when there is a recent post in one of its topics. its odd.

hm.... overlapping gravity wells. might really confuse the AI if you made a galaxy forge map like that. (couldn't jump between the two because the grav well overlap was too big. but with gravity tolerance (a research item - maybe only Vasari), you could still jump between the two. but yes, just sub-light would be faster due to charge up time. now as for actually doing that, I still beleive the programming would still recognize the ships as being within the first p
how do you get all your kostura cannons to fire at once?
the easiest way (and closest) is to select all of them, zoom in on the planet you want to bombard, and order it to fire, hit tab, next fires, tab, fires, tab, fires, tab, etc.
Quoting Orodum, reply 2 then an extremely short phase jump (almost instantaneous) would move them to the other planet's well. and if it did that (register the ships as being still in planet 1's grav well) then the ships in the other well would be invisible to the other player until they put a ship into planet 1's well. I didn't think of that, but it does seem that that would be what happened
just an idea - what if there were choices in fleet formation? it would add another element to the strategy of fleet battles. I mean, a Y formation would be aggresive (direct combat ships -DC - at top points, support and caps at base), a cube/sphere formation would be defensive, protecting either a colony frig or just the more fragile support ships. maybe have the ability to select the light carriers separately (like between mil. ships, squadrons, and migrators)
Yes! although I am thinking that just hitting tab (or clicking the fleet icon like when clicking the planet garrisoned forces bar [the little ring around the planet when zoomed out]) to switch between the different groups. at least capitol ships, carrier cruisers, flak frigates, and general attack frigates should have their own group. either that or put a "Create sub-fleet" button above the "Create fleet" button when a group of ships is selected that is all within the same fleet.&
no problem.
Just when I thought the TEC were going to pull through Witchfire, you slap with Advent 'martyrs'! Does the TEC always have to have their asses handed to them? Do they crave the abuse?
yep I'm typing up a few things from "Vasari" POV that are going to be from First Contact.
except for the capture extractor ability on the colony frigs, they nearly useless. and the Jikara navigators have that ability instead of the Jarun Migrator for the Vasari, so the Vasari have little to no reason to build them, unless it is late game and your fleet is tied up and there are neutral undefended planets nearby.
layman's terms (for those who aren't used to tactical games) if you know how a squad works in the military, an officer (capitol ship) will greatly enhance and coordinate the infantry (frigates/cruisers) by boosting morale, giving orders, controlling ammunition, and unifying the squad. now cap ships won't actually coordinate the lesser ships, but they use their abilites to increase their effectiveness about the same amount. just like an officer on his own won't survive long, a ca
there are a lot (about 5-7) in the fan submission sections, actually.
you will obey! obey! obey! obey!
I am also a Vasari player but was in a similar situation. Hyperion gates; four players, FFE, one TEC AI set to hard. I dominate the Vasari AI in my system, but they still control a corner when suddenly a juggernaught of a fleet comes through the star, taking seven planets before I can muster a respectable defence. I burn my stockpile (now quite sizeable due to forgetting about building) to use returning Armada to use up all of my support slots and retake all bu
I believe Aerolian, with maximum players, has two systems each with five players. So unless one AI had already researched Long Range Jumps within 12 minutes and sent a fleet over, you're describing a situation with one too many hostile factions.
actually I believe you are thinking of Hyperion's Gates (two systems (not counting little 5 planet star) and five players each system. a pirate base on one side of

lovely! A bloody good show. (no, I am not actually British, just am used to using their curses and phrases)
chances are you can just copy and paste the entire file (game and all) to your pc. at least it works for Word '03
this may have already been mentioned, but when pirates are set to inactive/the bounty minibox is otherwise not up, you can't click in the area that it would fill were it there. by that i mean that it won't have any effect. this is the more recent version (v1.11 I think, but I'd have to check)
tech strat also depends on which race you are playing as - I am mainly a Vasari player (actually i pretty much only play Vasari) so I don't know the Advent's tree that well, but I have some experience in TEC's. For Vasari, what I like to do is max out my VIL's (Vitsurka Imperial lab) first, so I can get Highly attuned sensors (all phase jumps visible), Phase gates (extremely useful, but expensive), and Returning Armada (costs resources in v1.1 and later, but before that almost g
If you don't pre-order entrenchment, will you still be able to beta test it? I'm just curious, and it's also bcuz I am not sure I'll be able to pre-order (no credit card, I have to use a parent's, and thus have to persuade them to get it for me, and then I have to pay them back) maybe this was already said and I didn't see it.
Lord Hood : For us, the storm has passed. The war is over. And let us never forget those who journeyed into the howling dark, and did not return. For their decision required courage beyond measure. Sacrifice, an unshakeable conviction that their fight... *our* fight... was elsewhere. As we start to rebuild, this hillside will remain barren, a memorial to heroes fallen. They enobled all of us, and they shall no
had the old version and then got the 1.1 update and i got the same problem
actually, the auto-join is an option (I think - I would have to check again) and ships only auto join a fleet if they jump into a gravity well and there is a fleet already there. then and only then. as for the seige capitol ship leaving the fleet thing - you probably either selected multiple ships and didn't realize it, or you moved your mouse immediately after clicking (if you try to click and then switch buttons too quickly, it will register the click on the b
thanx, it installed right this time. last time, it didn't actually save the file (2 second download earlier, this time about an hour download)
odd, now it says "C:\Users...impulse_setup_full.exe is not a valid Win32 application. and it only asks for permission once, bcuz of publisher
