I'm not too keen on this whole "pick a form of government" thing. Sins is different from Civ or Galciv in that you are not so much an emperor managing his empire over the course of many years, but more of a grand admiral directing the military effort to conquer a particular solar system or two. I think adding political options to the game removes the war-focus and takes the game in a very different direction.
</

I have the same problem except i have always encountered it, even in the original. But for some reason its always at the end of the game, If i have a huge fleet in the beginning or middle it doesnt lag up at all but if i invade with a medium fleet at the end of a game its laggy even on medium sized maps. Odd though cause of my system specs, 2.5-3 gigs of free ram depending on how cooperative Vista is at the time 2.6 ghz processor Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M (graphics procce
I like the civ4 system of government better where there are 4 main aspects of government and each one has 4 options that you pick from and this defines your type of government. but that might be copying too much from another game. Having a victory condition where you research a bunch of components and then build each of them and combine them to form something sounds just like the alpha centauri space ship from the civ games too. But you could make it so that the gadget is some kind of
This is kind of alot but I think they are all good ideas so bear with me. I think that the rate at which population on a planet increases is too fast. Some more planet upgrades there like a commerce/corporate planet upgrade that increase trade income by a small amount. It would also be cool if there were orbital space stations that increase population (Logistics) and if all the orbital structures orbited the planet very slowly instead of staying
i tried that too and it worked for a few hours but it did eventually crash. I got an error message saying that sins requested a runtime to be executed in an unusual way and needed to be closed.
for some reason, the crashes on save games that i have is without entrenchment and with entrenchment the game crashes a few minutes after starting a new game. This, just like the save game crashes, is not a minidump. Instead, I just get a message that pops up saying that Sins has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have found that it is not related to any particular action on my part too.
does anyone else have the problem where the game crashes after a few minutes after loading a game with the mod installed. I tried it with the mad scientist mod and it does the same thing. It doesn't seem to do this on vanilla so but sometimes it takes longer to crash than other times. edit: I just started a new game and it crashed after a few minutes too so its not just after loading. I also have vista if thats in anyway important.
ya my game crashes after about 5 minutes after i load a saved game too. But i dont get any kind of minidump error, it just says Sins of a Solar empire has stopped working and must close or something like that. I have vista if that is important. And my computer is not overheating.
every time I open the ConvertData.exe it immediately and instantly closes so how am I supposed to use this tool? And what exactly was the command to convert data from binary to text and vice verca? I remember seeing something about it but i cant find it anymore. By the way I have vista if that has anything to do with it.
