There is no RTS MP competition for Sins right now - which is funny, considering how underdeveloped and small a community Sins MP is. Of them all, Endless Space looks the best to me but it is strictly 4X. Legends of Pegasus is also 4X mainly with some RTS elements like Total War has. Gemini Wars is SP campaign and skirmish and they are "intending" to add MP in but overall that game looks like crap. Unless by some miracle, Relic makes a Homeworld 3 in the next few years, I don't know of any

Some inside information There will be patch on day 0 as in release day patch. Otherwise no more patches. What if a huge error is exposed gurantee that they would patch that....blanket statements do not work [/quote] I think he means no more beta patches - just a d

The June 12th release is official. There's an E3 interview where one of the devs confirms it: http://www.neogamr.net/news/e3-2012-we-chat-with-stardock-and-ironclad-about-sins-of-a-solar-empire-rebellion It made me chuckle when he described the Vasari Loyalist Stripped to the Core/All Mobile strategy as "high risk-high reward".

I know each minidump could be for a different reason (different bugs) but ever since turning off auto-save points in MP and deleting the accumulated auto save files I haven't had a single MD in the past few weeks and I did have several prior to doing that. Just my little anecdotal evidence if that helps anyone.

People keep mentioning Endless Space as competition "hot on the heels" of Rebellion, But ES is just 4X - no real time elements - so I don't see how it's relevant to what Stardock and Ironclad have done with Rebellion.

@Grimmjew - your counterargument doesn't address what I said. In your initial post you were concerned about the new mechanics being "nerfed into the ground" and in your reply to me you use an example where a starbase costs a ridiculous amount. This is not what I am talking about. In my post I use the phrase "tweaking the numbers". I'm talking about fine tuning the numbers to a state of balance without changing the mechanics of how things operate. Not responding to current imbalan

I also disagree with the idea that nerfing has to make things bland. The new Vasari mechanics being talked about here can still exist as cool, new elements in the game that function exactly the way they do now, but they can be delayed or tweaked in terms of numbers. Changing numbers doesn't change the mechanics.

Endless Space has a variety of pre-order "bonuses" that I've never seen before that stoop to new "culturizing pre-pay is good" levels as you put it. One of them is, I kid you not, your picture on the wall at the Dev's office. It's for the Emperor Special Edition where you get access, not to beta, but to alpha. Shit is getting ridiculous... On topic to Rebellion - yes, I also feel like the move to Steam and using Steamworks as a selling feature was implying more of a M

Well, I don't find the genre mix to be a diluted, weaker form of each, but rather something that makes a unique game experience. Personally I prefer competitive MP RTS but since that is hard to find on ICO sometimes, I also enjoy playing the SP. In typical RTS games, skirmish games vs AI are very boring because the AI is incredibly stupid and there isn't much depth to the experience. The 4x aspect of Sins makes the SP more interesting and the AI poses enough of a challenge at

I don't understand the point of this thread. Is it from someone who has an inferiority complex and wants to show that MP was an afterthought in order to make themselves feel better about only playing comp stomps? Who cares what % plays SP and what % plays MP. If an RTS wants to be successful economically and grow a large playerbase and extend the life of its game and IP, it needs MP - end of story. If it can do so and be a creatively successful "good game" (subjective obviously), even bet

I love corvettes because they make RTS accessible to everybody - I only need one military lab and then I just turn on my happy corvette factories of win! I only wish I could find the auto-build button so I wouldn't have to micromanage producing them all the time. I like how they make the complicated counter system of Sins so simple!!

I think it's pretty funny how the Loyalist Titan has its jump ability with the apparent (?) intention of synergy with Maw, except it will never survive to level 6 to use Maw and instead the Jump is really so that when you have to run away you have a slight chance of making it out of the gravity well - unless, well, clouds of corvettes are chasing you. I think a slight cooldown reduction on spawning a phase stabilizer and slight buff to health/damage (as already brought up lots of times) i

It doesn't list the cost of calling in the Combat or Support Fleets - just the Capital Ship. 5K credits is too low though - it's around what Cecil quoted.

Repossession ability is bugged and doesn't work. It used to be able to be used to instantly capture the Artifact planet and Capital under those special victory conditions. When the devs tried to fix/change that - they made it so that now it can't capture any planets. I'm sure they are aware and a fix will hopefully be in the next patch. By the way - are you the same g0dAr1es from gr.org/Dow II?

So I guess the Repossession bug got noticed too late to make it into this latest patch. Seems like it got introduced when they changed it to not be useable against Artifact planet and Capital victory conditions. This patch just changed its autocast conditions.

They are releasing the races one at a time to fix bugs first and foremost - balance the glaring things as well - but fine tuning faction balance is the last step and generally continues past release as well. It does slow things down a bit when balance changes introduce new bugs though - as in all the bugs that came from the last Advent patch. There is another patch due tomorrow apparently so a changelog should be showing up soon. Here's hoping some of the culture and shiip re-animation bu

It's chicken and egg - they don't want to add more MP features/functionality/ladder play because they don't think there will be enough players to warrant it but without those basic features, you're hamstringing yourself from attracting and retaining a larger MP pool. I know for Ironclad's next title, Sins of a Dark Age, they are definitely going to be focusing more on MP as in this from their Q&A: Will I be able to create a team with my friends a

That's cool - you're very lucky if you have a dev/publisher relationship like that as the impression I have of most others is more distant/corporate/even at odds with each other.
