Does anyone know if there is a way to use Theme Manager without resetting DesktopX. I had an idea which would require Themes to be activated within the realm of the DX environment. (By the way, Theme Manager is my all time favorite tool from Stardock.) [e digicons][/e]

Hi, I'm trying to add a layer to an appbar which will allow drag and drop from an open browser for the purpose of downloading objects from pages. Is this possible with the constraints of DX scripting? If so, then, does anybody have a script for this? Just to be more specific, it would be useful for saving .jpg's or .gif's or .pdf's (and maybe even .flv if the script is capable of communicating with the right protocols). In advance, Tha

OK guys! And to anyone who picks up this thread. The situation has been resolved. It seems that Impulse has been installing DesktopX incorrectly every time I rebuilt my computer. I don't understand how but the only way I was able to fix it was to use a specific file from Stardock which is used to do a perfect uninstall of their software. After the uninstall, Impulse was able to install it correctly. I am as puzzled about this as I am happy to finally see th

I misspoke when I said gadgets I was trying to make widgets. I have the regular version 3.5 and I can import widgets just fine but when I try to export them and and use them again it doesn't recognize the file as DX. I just tried tonight with one that someone else created instead of my own and it happened with theirs too. [e digicons]X([/e]

I have been a DesktopX user for some time now and have had a lot of success with designing objects and even themes but everytime I try to export anything it fails without exception. Saved objects work fine but gadgets do not. The worst part is that when I try to import what I have exported it says "this does not appear to be a DesktopX gadget", of all the lousy cottin' pickin' things to say! It came from DX and DX doesn't recognize it. This has happened with every sing

Please don't misunderstand my suggestion. When I say that a feed aggregator would be a good solution, I am not necessarily referring to an RSS system. What I do mean is something similar to what Zubaz brought up in the very beginning of this thread. One .ini to rule them all. We could begin to script all objects in Object Desktop to look for the info they need from that file which we as the group, not Stardock, would maintain to be current and effective. Help from Stardock to get it sta

I may sound way off base here but after giving this a good deal of thought, I have a theoretical solution to the strife between all of us and this frustrating issue. I would like to suggest that all you experienced developers work on a new application or plugin for Object Desktop which would act as a feed aggregator. Something invisible to the user but able to auto update to the current community options which seem to work, along with, perhaps a few user chosen preferences to allow for less

Thank You for your help, I guess it can be expected that we all belong to about the pickiest group of people on the internet. Skinners I mean! Always wanting things to do more than they already do. I don't mean to be a big hassle but I hope that computers change soon. It looks like Stardock is in the vein of making all that possible. You guys do rock!

I have about 200 themes in my theme manager application and it takes too long to find the ones I like. In addition to that, it doesn't always load the specified parts to the theme. So I am trying to access the themes that I like best straight from the start menu in shortcuts. One of my top five choices is Zubaz believe it or not. Love your DesktopX theme! Care to see my personal tweaks on it? All you need to do is ask. I have run into nothing but tr

Can someone tell me please how to direct a shortcut in my start menu to engage a windowblind skin without opening the interface. I tried using the .uis file extension but it tries to open the theme manager. And when I try to associate it with windowblinds it says there is no .uis file, are you sure this is a windowblinds theme.

Impulse added a program called Fences to its lineup when I bought Object Desktop. The program is very good but it is conflicting with DesktopX. Any scripts that involve the changing of wallpaper will not work with Fences active. I geuss this has something to do with the "hide desktop icons" feature which is required to make Fences work. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and if there is a work around or perhaps an update which can fix it. Thanks!</

Are there specific files I can point to with a shortcut in Desktop X which will change the icon displayed whenever the icon package is changed with Icon Packager? I have seen that certain programs have a current theme folder which uses the same file name for each variable so that it can be changed at anytime. I cannot however see anything like this in Icon Packager. Does anyone know how to deploy icon packages within the DesktopX environment. I like this tool but I can

Fences also interferes with wallchanging abilities, I had a time discovering why certain tools which worked before wouldn't work anymore. Go back to the last few applications installed and voila! I hope someone can find a solution to making Fences work with Desktop X.
