Light frigates should probably be faster and NOT stop before firing so that range is lost and they have to start pursuing again (I could be wrong, but that's what it feels like). The Light and Flak frigates could both be faster without too much IMBA. The Flak definitely needs to deal more dmg vs SC. I think if Carriers could be chased down and killed easier and Flaks were more effective, there may be some good balance. A major problem is that this game is tough

[quote who="Buttons6" reply="13" id="1958269"] Quoting CenturionJixra, reply 5 If people really enjoy playing Starcraft, Warcraft III, or AOE II over Sins for the reasons Requerent mentioned then they should just play those games. 10,000 claps for your sir. I like Sins because of it's lack of econ booms. In many RTS's both sides start up their exponential economic growth, grind forces for 15 mins or so, then someone los

[quote who="psychoak" reply="23" id="1957989"] If you don't have Carriers you should still be able to beat them with Flaks. Right now, it seems carriers are somewhat of a prerequisite- I'd like not to make them if I don't want to. Why? Fighters killing bombers has been the way of war since their inception. Anti-air ground sites are the last line of defense, used because your actual defense failed. When bombers are already on your territory, it's too late.&nbs

The balance is pretty strong, much stronger than most pop-RTS games out there now. The Problem is 1.5-2 hours...

[quote who="Cykur" reply="7" id="1955825"]It sounds like you are playing smaller maps. You should try some 4v4 or 5v5. If you get a sheltered start, you can in fact econ boom (whether your allies can hold the line while you do this is another story). You certainly don't get the full scope of the game from a small map. Those advanced techs and structures are there so people still have something to do in longer, larger games. In the 50-60 planet single star ma

A successful multiplayer community is dependent upon a game being playable by WCG standards, which is a 1v1 dynamic. WCG is the convention by which a game that expects to have an online player base must adhere too, as it is really the only thing competitive players take seriously. I'm not saying team games are unimportant (the team dynamic is typically more interesting), but for a game to sustain an online community the basis must be 1v1. 1v1s take too long

Fighters scrambled from the alien capital ship count towards the 'strikesquad lost' value at the end of the game, but they do not count toward the 'strikesquad made' value. This typically results in a negative strike squad value at the end of the game.

Firstly, GJ, fun game, the mechanics are interesting and I don't regret acquiring the game. The lack of an online gaming community is, however, absolutely disturbing. I typically play RTS type games over 4X, but the seemingly seamless convergence of the two styles in Sins is very attractive. The problem, I think, is scope and pace- the timeframe over which particular elements are and can be utilized within a game. The ultimate observation is this; it takes too long to enjoy the features of th
