Hi Volt_Cruelerz. You missed some things in my post.
by having three capital ships with separate damage types, you can almost completely negate mitigation as they fire in series, thus confusing the shield and destroying the concept
My original post: "(But don't let AI flip back and forth between almost similar mitigation potentials! That would cause a "thrashing", and the shields may never mitigate any hits at all
Mitigation isn't a problem.
For the purposes of gameplay, I would agree. Currently, I just be mindful not to overkill. I pack LRMs into groups of 4, because 4 will just about raise mitigation to max (60%) in 1 volley. Also, the auto-behavior of fighting fleets are not a problem either. I've seen LRMs disengage from a target with half health, likely because it calculated that a previous volley would already kill that target. <b

As Hound mentioned, in the Illum vs. Assailant thread, stronger weapons can be rendered similar in dps to weaker ones by shield mitigation. Suppose a strong weapon can raise shield mitigation to 50% quickly. Suppose a weaker weapon has half the dps of the strong weapon. In that case, both weapons do similar dps in effect. The unfortunate case of the Illum vs. Assailant is likely because the Assailant's vanilla dps is 13, and that would raise the Illum's mitigation. The Illum's is 8

I just thought I had to post this to get any corrections necessary. Is Sins an RTS or is it a war game simulation, or both?? The Kol has strong left and back autocannons, doing some 11 dps each. Right side holds hangar and 7 dps autocannon. First, I managed to place the Kol such that its front, left and back guns are all firing. Tried the same neutral world militia a few times, and the outcomes are drastically different. Using the front, left and back guns all at once le

It's at http://tinyurl.com/njrvvf . It spent about 1 day "In Moderation". Now it's no longer in moderation. But it isn't published at https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?libid=72

It's pretty cheap after all and might give you the edge in production you'd need without a SB.
Yes, I tried getting trade ports early. But if I do that too early, I can't get a 2nd cap ship that is needed to prevent my enemies from getting more planets (each planet with credit income of 3+!). Even if I trade-port my only 2
A few fighters can easily take care of siege-frigates. Just make them hold position close to them and your planet won't be in any danger. And as you already suggested, SBs can be upgraded to prevent the loss of a planet to bombardment.
Wow, all that additions with Entrenchment seems like there's more to learn. Isn't the AI also a loaf of bread in vanilla Sins? They always go for my repair bays and gauss cannon cluster. <p

I noticed that flak frigates don't kill fighters as fast as fighters kill fighters, so they're quite expensive to use to counter fighters. Bombers will get chewed up by fighters faster than my flak frigs can kill them fighters. But I guess I'll have to use f

First question: I crewed a neutral resource extractor. I left the scene. Enemy AI came upon the scene with some missionary vessels. Enemy AI just stood there, not taking over (crewing) the extractors that I had crewed. 2 unfair benefits it gave me are... free sight of passing ships, truly "invulnerable" resource extractors. Will I have to relearn lots of stuff with Entrenchment? I've barely finished looking through the .entity files and figuring out what counters what.

I played against 2 unfair Advent AIs. And I barely survived. The replay shows their homeworlds are empty of ships. They threw everything they had against me. It seems like I'm playing 1v4, though. Unfair AIs get a resource boost.

First question: The AI doesn't crew the extractors that I crewed. That let me crew those extractors for posterity, despite the fact that those resources are very close to AI's territory. Second question: AI should have hit (Reverie) my Marza bearing missile barrage. Instead, it hit my novice Marza, leaving my experienced Marza free to do a barrage. Third question: Hmm. Then I might just get Entrenchment, since it doesn't throw the game off balance

A couple of problems. First, AI missionary vessels won't crew extractors that I crewed before. Second, AI chose to hit a Marza that had no missilar barrage, leaving the one that had totally free to barrage. And a question: Will 1v2 unfair be much easier with entrenchment? What about 1v3 unfair? I might consider getting entrenchment if it can improve the "1 versus many" experience. The replay was just submitted to WinCustomize. They said it takes 5 d

When I load a game and then record the game, the record starts from the time I loaded the game, not from the start of the game (time 00:00:00). Is this true? That would make it difficult for me to play long games, yet record them. But I guess that also prevents me from cheating. :P
