And much more knowledgeable people than both me and you put together disagree with your naive approach. We aren't going to rely on RADAR for detection. We're going to use telescopes and thermographic imaging. Drives are going to be bright. The current NASA Space Shuttle's main engines can be seen from the asteroid belt, IIRC. So it's not going to be a case of "where's the enemy". Fu

off-topic but as we are not going to get data from IC on titans soon... Well, IRL, the size and armor would not matter at as it doesn't exist any armor that would protect against a direct hit (or even a proximity explosion) from a thermonuclear missile. Far more efficient than any laser, mass driver, phaser, whatever other weapon exist in Sci-fi. I, mean, the plasma wave will slice your battleship in two. In space, the only thing that matter is the accelerat

My biggest issue with bombing planets is that the planet you nuke lose all its planetary and logistics upgrades... I would prefer a system where you have to keep a capital ship around the planet until the end of a timer and then, the planet surrender to you, with all its population and planetery upgrades. You can speed the process up by bombing but then, you may lose planetary upgrades and get a temporary penalty on allegiance. You could also speed up the process by bringing more capital ship

Very funny post if you read Sins as literally sins and not as "Sins of a Solar empire" : "Sins in the modern age is a rare jewel for me" "I hope we keep seeing more and more sins" "I hope you continue to make more sins products" [e digicons][/e] Satan, please, give us more Sins !...

Wow, i really, really like EadTaes's ideas on corvettes on page 4 ! I hope devs have been listening to him or that they have something even better in their game design because i will be quite disappointed if it is just a lighter, faster and harder to target version of frigates. Only issue i have with EadTaes idea is i think it may become a pain to get the newly built corvettes to your capital ships : if you are on the offensive and your supply line is long, it may be a pain to reb
Afghanistan will probably be torn asunder for the large deposits of minerals it's supposedly sitting on. I can imagine destruction of mountains becoming a hot topic as strip mining eventually finds its way there. Thanks for your answer. I was asking because after watching Manshooter video (http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-last-stand/videos/making-of-the-citadel#imagebox) for his mod, i was wondering if there was a way of texturing directly on the model. But i suppose i will have to stick with those depressing UV maps.

Your work looks very impressive. How did you make the textures ? I tried to mod myself a while ago with Xsi and if i wasn't too bad about modeling, i found UV mapping and texturing a true nightmare using Gimp. Do you use some special software like zbrush ?

After reading both wikipedia articles about N. Korea army and South Korea army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Korea_Armed_Forces), i think that South Korea barely needs the help of the US army to beat the crap out of the North korean army. They have the same number of heavy weapons (tanks, aircraft and artillery) but South Korea ones are two generations younger... And quality matters a lot in modern warfare

It's clear that North Korea won't attack South Korea if they are not insane (but are they ?) but can american forces invade North Korea ? Imagine they use a nuke on one of your armoured division on their own soil once you invade. You could lose several thousands of your men on one strike. How would your public opinion react to this ? Nuke are not just to strike city, if only one or a few are used correctly in a battlefield, they could make the technology and training gap between US fo

I went against Cruel AI (FFA, 3AI and me) and if unfair is not that much of a challenge, the economy of cruel AI makes you overwhelmed both in fleet quality (techs) and quantity (number of ships). Expect cruiser spam early. In my game, i made everything Darvin3 said (except 4 or 5 because i find using the AI flaws not funny) and i killed many ennemy ships with my advent starbase but i made a mistake : i attacked an ennemy fleet witout enough strikecrafts in a system with a PJI and the

man, this game is quite tough for beginners (i almost trew it away after my two first games). Go to the wiki of sword of the stars (http://sots.rorschach.net/Beginner%27s_Guide) and don't forget to read the articles about the economy, research and colonizing, it should help. Good luck !

The solution is obvious. Using light frigates, long range frigates or even scouts to counter scout rush, that's an amateur job. You have to think ahead. What ? You didn't have guessed yet ? Ok, the strategy mastermind that i am will give you the strategy that would stun your adversary on ICO : Use mines. 'Lots of them. It is ok, don't thank me, i a

Am i the only one that it reminds of Galactic Civilization? immortals : arnor ; Tar-Thela = Draginol and shards like in Twilight of the Arnor again ? And this line : "the mortals were no longer a threat to them magically" remembers me of "the Dread lords were affraid that the younger races may be a match for them technologically". Maybe GalCiv's development team = Elemental development team ?! (just kidding :p)
