I strongly support point 1 : the empire Tree is very very great. First time i played sins tutorial, i found it a pain. Now, it is hard to come back to any other RTS where you have to move your viewpoint to the unit, zoom on in, click on it and so on... Here, i can review my economy and order my fleet planets away to colonize, attack, retreat, and so on. And the view of your ship's state is so clear : one unit is glowing red and has no more shields ? Ctrl + R and it retreats by itself ! Everyt
Who's asking for trillions to be spent? I'm curious. Let's assume for a moment that human produced CO2 can affect the global temperature. How do you stop it?
Yeah, that's a challenge. The problem is not that the global economy is centered around consumerism (although there is no evidence that it will lead to one's happyness and life fulfillment but it is another debate) about that our economy is about the GRO
Well... Pirates ARE strong. Ok, as everyone here, i like the idea of space travel but let us face reality : we don't have the technology to go out in our solar system efficiently. We are still using the same engines that the ones used in the appolo project in 1969. Ok, they got a little bit of efficiency between there and now but it remains VERY difficult to go to space. To escape from the earth gravitational field (and so go to the moon, mars, whatever), you need the object to be propelled at 11.
I am getting more and more interested in Diplomacy but i'm waiting to know how the ia handle the new game mechanics before purchasing.
Haegemonia was a show, not a video game. You couldn't control more then 12 squadrons (or units as the squadron of seven fighters, the squadron of 4 corvets, the squadron of 2 cruisers and finally the squadron of one battleship are the only four military units you can build in the game !) The battle were nice to see but didn't involve strategy at all, it was just watching the pretty effects. You are comparing a game with only 12 units maximum to Sins... Haegemonia was nice, i h
Yeah, the list is fairly long and I doubt they can do everything, but to me the main holes that should be plugged: - AI needs to build superweapons. - AI needs to be able to interrupt channeling capital ship abilities (like Missile Barrage) - AI needs to be able to use capital ship ultimates (they can now if auto-cast is turned on but since all ultimates are defaulted to off the AI never uses them). - AI needs to upgrade

rainbow 6 vegas for 5 euros and i am planning to buy the word in conflict complete edition before the end of the steam sales.
Really interested in your post darvin3 as i had an idea for a while that may work. One flaw of the game was that, even if it considers itself as a 4X game, it lacked depth in civilization building : you upgrade all planets the same way and once you are done, you will focus only on the military. There is no way planets can be as customized as in GalCiv 2, that's impossible but GalCiv had the bright idea to create Galactic wonders (one for the entire galaxy), civilization achiev
DS has expanded research (ie get four points of laser research per tier and research for getting new craft like EWS) DS has better capitals, they are worth easily 20 HCs (well not all but the Kol, Radiance, and Kortul are) but they dont really over balance the game DS has bigger fleets (can sometimes cause problems with lag on weaker comps) DS has many visual upgrades (Bailknight and Mansh00ters mods) D
yeah, even if i criticize Sins and its IA behavior quite often, it remains the best Real Time space game ever (and yes, better than the homeworld saga). I am really looking forward for what you Ironclad guys are going to do next.
I have no proof at my house that there is a city in the US called Washington DC, but does that mean that it doesnt exist??? _|~Uber
It doesn't : it is an illusion to make you feel safe in a dream world called America whereas Vasari are making sexual experiments on you as you sleep. Yeah, i know, the truth hurts. (just a joke in that terribly serious topic) :p .
@Neroir : i totally agree : i downloaded GalCiv 2 and Sword of the stars ultimate this Week-end and they were both in english (i am french), i was quite surprised as for Sins of a solar empire, i got the choice of the language before downloading and galCiv 2 has been released in france (sword of the stars ultimate, i am not too sure). It is ok for me because i can read english pretty well but i would have liked to know the language before the purchase.
So, if i understand your logic greyfox2, it is about : i host a game without password so everyone can join so that i can play and have fun but if i am lucky enough to get more people than expected, i choose them and kick the others, even if they waited a long time because, i, the host, would have more fun in this case. Finally, everything is around YOUR fun. it is your right but, personally, i find it pretty selfish : you kick the same less skilled players that allows you to p

i saw once a video on youtube of a 1000 scouts fleet :D : i am quite sure whatever ia ennemy fleet you encounter will retreat the moment you jump in !
If you look for originality, yes, it is not incredible but so is Star Wars (rescue a princess, destroy a evil empire...) and it is a really good story. what makes the background of sins that solid is the depth of its universe : when you learn about the advent backstory, the look of their ships and their voices makes sense. The same for the very crude and basic TEC ships : you feel the fleet built with haste to counter the alien attacks. SOASE story is not incredible as there i
just to say that if you guys find the time to add a Researchfloatmodifier SpeedAdjustment, a line in the ships of the entity file to say if the ship can phase jump or not and a target filter that allows to only target a specific kind of frigate (LF, LRM, etc...), i would be the happiest man ever :)
i needed three games before noticing that the first capital ship was free...
Something over-powered can always be fixed by nerfing it . Actually I am also considering the possibilities of making something like a phasejumpable starbase. The closest (untested) I have come is giving them an ability that can make them teleport to neighboring gavity wells. For file references one with ResearchWithBase: AbilityAntiMatterRechargModule and one with RearchWithoutBase: AbilityClusterWarheads (these seem to be abilities
Yeah, i was wrong for starbases, i thought i had seen one time a mod with starbase that can jump but i was wrong and there is no CanPhaseJump TRUE in the entity files :( That's a fail :( About the examples of passive you gave, there are abilities that are unlocked through research (i know how to do that) but they are not improveable : for example : there is no repulse research lvl 2 that would imporve the efficiency of repulse. I am going to look at levelSourceType "ResearchWithBase"
You make me hesitating but the last time i threw a look to the entity file, there was a canPhaseJump FALSe at the end so i was thinking about making a TRUE instead. i am going to check after finishing writing this. i am very interested by what you say, gruntmaster and EvilTesla-RG, i have not been looking to the levelsourcetype : do you have an example of a file in-game i could look at to see how it works ? (by the way, does what you say confirm what i have been thinking, that
The solution is simple : a campaign editor. I suppose i am dreaming but it would be by far the coolest feature of sins. Just imagine the incredible sci-fi stuff ones could make with such tool...
