personally, i would have killed for a third expansion that would have brought a campaign editor but, sadly, it will stop with diplomacy so i don't think there is any hope left to see a campaign editor in sins, as awesome it would have been.

It is a bit of an extreme solution, don't you think Mooster ? The pirates in Distant stars are more interesting than vanilla ones that were only feeding you with experience but i had some games in DS where pirates come to me very fast (lvl 3 has already one cap i think) and i found it a bit too much. But about pirates caps, it is again really a personal opinion . I am a lot more critical about that very powerful and upgraded pirate starbases backed by a whole fleet.
For myself, i am not sure. I was really looking for a campaign editor and new condition victories that would make you avoid killing everyone when it is clear that i am going to win (like the 80% control of the map victory condition of Rise of Nations that avoided me painful and boring end of games) or new rules (like if you lose your capital and do not get it back within 10 minutes you lose for example) so i am a bit disappointed by this last expansion. Moreover, i would like to avoid
I have been playing only this mod for now for months and i have a few things to say about whit is good and what is less good : good : -the new planets, the new bonus adds a lot to the depth of the game -the overflowing credits income have been fixed -culture is more important (50 % allegiance bonus is good, particulary when colonizing other stars) -EWS bomber are fun -The research really pays off -the capital ships are mor
Oh, best part? I got his cap too with the 100 scouts. I'm sorry for having a sick sense of humor, but that's funny to watch.
And funny to read ;)
Metroid Prime : this game was just perfect. Impressives boss, good story, still amazing graphics and such an atmosphere. Rogue squadron II : rogue leader : destroying a star destroyer in a big dog fight with a lot of tie fighters is priceless. Rise of Nations : best RTS game ever FF IX : my first RPG. Great intricated story that makes yourself involved.
Well, you nail it : it wouldn't be that useful with caps as we almost all manage there abilities by ourselves but for support ships, it is a must have. Moreover, it would make the IA far stronger.
Very true. I tried to change it myself (as well as many other tweaks including the pirate starbase i am currently nerfing) but i didn't find the file where you can change the income rate without modifying the metal and crystal income. Even in slow mode, i end with way too more cash. Moreover, they are some files in the gameinfo folder i can't change to txt from binary using the .bash trick : some kind of issue where the convertdata_entrenchment encountered an error and have to close..
suppose thats a matter of perspective...2 novaliths anywhere in your empire, and you force an opponent to have an SB with aux govt at every planet...and it presures him if he uses self destruct, because then his planet will be nukeable. and he has one less slot at every SB in general.
...or he has a colony ship set next to the planet who would recolonize it. Advent superweapon is useful if you are wealthy enough to get it. But it is clearly not worth the money you spend in them. Build ships instead : ships don't disappear because of culture stations, deliverance engine shot effect does. If you are in a whole culture kill strategy, why not... but it is far less efficient than big guns in big ships actually, even for Advent.
Dunno if Socialism is better than Capitalism. People get selfish and spoiled in socialism, as i can see it in France : you think you have Rights, you forget about duties and so on... Moreover, it is a heavy burden for our economy. In fact, i am quite amazed that our economy is going not too bad considering how expensive is French workforce and how much time we work. On the other hand, life quality is good in France (if you can tolerate French people, of course !), i think better than
I dunno, I find capital ship diversity to be still alive. Yes I use more battleships and the planet bombers more than others but in any naval fleet in WW 2 you saw an obscene amount of battleships. They are the heaviest hitters. It is meant to be that way. And my experience with DS the AI does research military, mind you I ALWAYS set the AI to brutal for a challenge. Also remember the more ships shooti
I particulary like the 2, i think the 1 is useless (10 players is already a lot for me). I can't play multiplayer with entrenchment now so 3 is a must have. I am not especially optimistic for 4 and 5. I think that if it could have been done easily before, it would have. So it must be pretty difficult.
There are other things to consider. Research level of both sides, levels do make a difference. At level 5 he can have maxed the shield regen ability. Your fleet could have consisted of basic frigates, no cruisers. What you're stating here is VERY generalized and VERY vague. An un-upgraded starbase is cannon fodder for even 1 level 5 cap ship. And as for it lasting three minutes under focus fire. well a
Nerf the Kol then. And nerf the Radiance. All three are meant to be the 'beasts' of survivability. They're the heavy hitters you pick up early on because they can take such a beating. Just saying that maybe you should review what you think each cap ship is meant to be used for.
Guy, three cap ships and a starbase : one time, it was a Sova lvl 3 joined a moment later by a kol level 1 that have been
I tried the 0.7 version of the game and it still looks great but they are deep problems of balancing. I mean, the original game is quite well balanced, so i don't understand why you took some time to make changes that, in fact, makes the game unbalanced to not say sometimes ruined. Understand me well, i love the new stuff you added but i just played a game and saw a Kortul with a 225% bonus in shield repairing (power surge) destroying almost by itself 3 capital ships and a sta

I am fine with impulse but quite suspicious about the goo system. The thing i don't like about impulse is the agressive advertisment campaign it brings with him.You can have a system that allow only regular customers to make the updates with a software included in Sins : you click on the update button in the menu, create an account, log in and then the game download and install the update by itself, without having to run an other programm like impulse. Example : Rise Of Nations.
And even if you colonize the thing, you would have to make expensive civic upgrades... RS-fx, what civic upgrades are you referring to? The planet naturally produces 3.5 credits a second. This planet is second only to your home world. Assuming you have other uses for the Akkan and Novalith Cannons , there would not be any investment to make to recieve this revenue stream. The point is if you leave the
IMHO the best thing to do with pirates is to but a starbase at their choke point and park a cap ship beside. No pirate raid can survive an upgraded sb, and all the xp goes to your cap. Your caps will level up in no time. Then when you have all the cap ships you want expereinced, then colonize the base as it is an extremely profitable rock to have.
I agree with Astax : the tax bonus is nice but destroy
Well, before and after the patch, it doesn't change anything : i can hardly see a situation where the strategic advantage is worth the investment. If you build defenses instead of researching novalith, pirates are not a annoyance anymore. And even if you colonize the thing, you would have to make expensive civic upgrades...

The AI was indeed very good but SOASE is more complex to deal with that a classic RTS like Rise of Nations. Nevertheless, some things must be improved : just tell the IA to not throw his caps to starbase, to use repair bay to fix a capital ship after a battle and to resear
