I suggest you upgrade your planet from underdevoped to developed by upgrading your planet, adding trade pots, population density is also important, it doesn't matter what race you play as, it would just be the same

I suggest (if you could afford them) build trade ports on all of your planets, it doesn't matter if it becomes a chain or not, it will still generate income for you. From what I have experienced, i think a max of 4 or 5 conseutive planets. How i got this, well, i build trade port(s) on all planets, and if you have trade ports in other galaxies, the trade route will follow insterseller space
