Is there a hotkey command for zooming out to the solar system view, and another to take you to the planet view? zooming in and out with the mouse wheel is too slow and tedious in big games with multiple fronts. And as an aside, do many of you use hotkeys? I am a hotkey user from many RTS games, but the hotkeys in SoaSE dont seem to be as intuitive as other games....maybe it's just that I dont see the use in many of them. -RM
ReadyMan
Me neither...I really wanted the signed game too.. :(
Can someone post some (non intrenchment) replays? There's not even one to dl and watch. With so many new players joining (thanks to the high ratings in so many top 10 lists), some good replays will go a long way in answering questions before they are even asked...
If they do, is there a limit? Also, how long does a phase jump normally take (is it the same for all ships? and: how long does a phase inhibitor tack onto the normal time to jump? Stacking inhibitors would make leaving a particular world like slogging thru peanut butter...heh.
or 1.12 even please
still, let's burn him to be sure.
Are there any particular user made maps that are played online often? How about user made maps that you think are outstanding? And which maps that shipped with the game do you enjoy the most? Thank you for any recommendations. RM
I havent had even one problem with the game, online connections, or anything. FWIW In fact, I'd say that this game is amazingly solid.
Going thru the tutorials a 2nd time highlighted quite a few things I missed the first time through. For anyone who has questions, do the tutorials again...much of the basics really are in there! As for finding ships, I'm learning to use the meters around each world from the solar system zoom view. That keeps things very organized. I have to admit that thinking of using functions from other RTSs isnt necessarily the best way with SoaSE. Also, hotk
The T-shirt and signed copies will be awesome! I'll put it right next to Rise of Nations, signed by Brian Reynolds!
wow, I thought fighters were only good vs. bombers...and with no other ability. So they can attack ships as well?
For planetary defense, which is better on average: Fighters or bombers? For carriers, which is better when attacking? Fighters or bombers? I've been mostly building Bombers for defense, thinking cap ships will come with the invading force...but sometimes they arrive with so many fighters, that there's not much I can do. There isnt a planetary defense vs. fighters is there? Also, is it really worth it to upgrade the Cap carrier t
actually, the pictures dont work. I let it sit for a couple of hours...heh. Links might work for you, but not for everyone for some reason... Looking forwrard to seeing what this mod looks like!
Two more questions: Is there a way to quickly tell how many military labs/science labs that I have? And do you usually build them a couple at each planet until you get what you need, or one at a planet as you expand? and how quickly do trade ships begin producing from a Trade post? Is there a limit, or is this gauged by the number of other trade posts under your control (one ship per?) thanks!
First off, thank you all for your help and input. I feel like I'm finally getting to understand the game somewhat. I replayed all the tutorials and gained a few tips I'd forgotten/not noticed the first time through. I searced for information on refineries but the search function of the forums only shows up as "no response to your search"...regardless of what I search for. am I missing something on getting this to work? My specific question is: <p
Wow! that's great information. Where did you learn that? (is there a site that catalogues this kind of information?)
Awesome! Thanks for the responses. I'll just have to get used to using the fleet options. I did go thru all the tutorials, but another time through might help a bit as well.
Thank you for all the help! The SoaSE wiki has quite a bit of information as well. One thing I cant seem to find: Is there a command to add a ship to a control group? (or fleet? I'm used to shift/control group # to add ship to an existing group) Another question: If I am in a location with 3 asteroids, but no planet, I can capture the mines, but is it possible to build hanger bays etc there? if so, how?
Thank you!! I appreciate the tips and information. I was asking about waypoints, because sometimes in the flurry of activity, I'll set a way point at another planet, to deal with pirates etc. If I do this with a couple of planets, I end up with ships all over the place. Which leads to my other question about getting all ships together with a hotkey (most RTS games have something like this). To go to each planet and grab all the ships and send them to a focal
I have so many questions…..I’ve searched all over, but can't seem to find much on this game…which is hard to believe. If I’m missing it, please point me to a link. <span style="font-size: sma
I've been looking for an interesting/fun RTS for a while now (played AoE3 since release and SupCom till it was boring) and happily came across a number of reviews of SoaSE when I saw it was on the list of best games of 2008. I bought the game w/o trying the demo and have to say that it's FANTASTIC! I had to play a couple of games (after the tutorials) to figure out how to even get a construction frigate (it's not explained anywhere), but am doing well with things now. On
