I'm a little weary of brand new boards, but that 250 looks like a great budget gamer card. Maybe I will wait. I intended this PC only lasting to next year, when I'll probably get an entirely new build as the price for Quad Cores or even maybe Processors with the Diamon lattice (Or whatever it's called) starts becomming mainstream and fairly inexpensive (Artificial diamond compound allows for less heat or somesuch, I'm not fully in on the details). &n
Deflagratio
High hopes, low expectations. No matter what the theatrical version is, I save my final verdict for the Directors Cut. Watchmen is a narrative heavy novel with surprisingly little action, and honestly, I can't see the film translating what Watchmen is all about in 2 and a half hours (Directors cut is supposedly 4ish)
I just plain up don't like the Vasari. But one things I can tell you, is they have like the best Colonize Capital ship, the Doomsday Egg, which at level 6 can suck the life out of a planet. I can play them okay I guess, here's what I've learned: *Scouts take resource extractors: Get every single one you can, this'll give you a huge advantage *Quick access to long range jumps: Get this fast if you're on a multi star system, and make a foothold i
Thanks for all the info, but I'm trying to avoid buying (And more so installing) a new PSU altogether because any PSU I'm absolutely sure will work bumps my cost up about triple (The 9800GTX+ is costing me a measly 80 bucks) not to mention replacing a PSU is like performing minor surgery, sure it's 90% likely nothing will happen, but sometimes shit happens. As for all the Nvidia bashing, I absolutley HATE ATI cards, I had an MX440 outperform a Radeon 9800 simply because the damn ATI d
Haha, I get super cheap stuff from Newegg and my Graphics card is actually total crap, it can't even run Morrowind GE edition at a stable frame rate (granted, it's an Oblivion esque look alike in GE mode) and I never had those probs on my old 7900 that blew up. I misphrased the 450 watt drain thing, it actually drains more like 300 or so I think (I'll speak directly with an XFX guy in the morning, but support tickets are super freakin slow), 450 (With 350 being the mini
Okay, so my rig was maybe B+ 2 years ago when I bought it, so now it's like F---- so I figured it's time to upgrade, I went from 1GB memory to 4GB no prob, that was a huge perfomance increase, and now I figure it's time to upgrade arguably the most integral part of PC gaming, the Graphics card. Current system spects (Don't laugh too hard, tution is expensive!) ABIT KN9 SLI motherboard Socket AM2 AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ (2.2GHZ) Overclocked to 2.42GHZ
Well, to be fair, any orbiting body around a planet is technically a moon (Or satallite as some people call them) but I know what you mean. I'd like at least Aesthetic moons that serve no real purpose but are just there, kind of like the floating space debris and what-not. I think this should go hand in hand with a planetary rescale and variation update (or hopefully th next Xpac) where many new skins, sizes and the like are added for planets, giving a little more variety. I play a mix of Advent and TEC, but I really like the Adventus unit architecture (Except the Drone host, that thing is ugly). One of the bigger factors actually that made me do Advent, was I like their Ambient music a lot more, reminds me of Mass Effect. Also there's something charming about the fanatical tone some of the Advent units have. Purge Vessel: Who must suffer?! Radiance Battleship: Direct our wrath! it really borders on the verge of Terrorism lol
It absolutely can, but I think it only applies to star gravity wells which can support 4 Bases. More effective is a defensive combo in TEC starbases giong 2x Weapon 3x Hull, 2x Docking Booms, and 1x WILD CARD! (probably off world government when it's working) Surround that starbase with Tons and tons of Gauss, a few Flak'd Hangars and 2-3 Repair platforms and you have yourself a defensive position that will require a fleet to bust.
No redundancy please. Can you really think of any ships that fill roles not already covered? and even then, it'd probably be better to upgrade the existing ones.
One effect I find hitting my system in particular, Been testing this on small maps, is the Shield effect (When the shield is hit, and it shows the shield itself) On max graphics on any map (Early in game) the game itself is running at 40+FPS the second a shield takes a hit, it drops to 10 for the duration of the shield effect visualization, I'm wonder if there can be any option later to turn that particular effect off or at least dow.
I'm digging what Deflagratio is saying. Trade should have some additional benefits other than just credits. Infact, all of his ideas are pretty good, but they need some flavor rubbed on them to ensure that it's unique for each of the races, but still balanced... could be difficult though, keeping balance with that - as the TEC already has a pretty big advantage on the trade front. +1 Karma, bro.
W
Possible issue with some people experiencing crazy slowdown, Doesn't apply to everyone but it seems, particularly on multistar maps, sometimes if the Pirates cannot get to their target (They cannot phase jump across stars) they just keep piling and piling units, assuming that their Corsairs alone are like Kodiaks a pirate fleet I came across was probably about 11,000 Points worth of ships (Yes, Over 1,000 ships) I don't know if this is an isolated case or a fluke just with my game.
The only thing I don't like about Capital ships is how vulnrable they are to force fire even in huge fleets. This goes both ways, not just for myself. But I'd like defeating a capital ship to feel like a accomplishment over destroying a heavy cruiser. All capital ships really need a universal defensive buff that propegates damage to nearby frigates and cruisers while mitigating damage to itself. Given to each faction, this would really make Capital ships better in thei
The trade route system needs a big revamp so it can play a more integral role in Sins, here some ideas Establishing a trade route already increases your trade port credit income by .1 per planet in the chain, in addition to this bonus, trade routes should: INCREASE ALLIANCE CAP: Planets in your trade routes will obviously be more under your empires influence, raising the maximum allegience. INCREASE MINERAL EXTRACTION: A very slight increase in min
Did you make sure to uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones? Sometimes that messes up stuff.
I got one on a 9Unfair AI map going on, FFA (never allied once or even accepted a trade alliance) I conquered one system on a Huge Random map, and dropped a cluster of Starbases (mostly to protect my trade starbase) but I inadvertently dropped all 4 of them in the phase lane from the other major system (The 3 remaining are small resource systems) and the AI keeps sending small is groups to their untimley demise. Now, it's not impossible to break a starbase group like that, I'd like to s
I'm not 100% sure if it will help, but something always worth a shot is, instead of using Nvidia drivers (From their site) assuming you have an Nvidia card, go with the manufacturers drivers (XFX, EVGA ect) SOMETIMES that works, it didn't in my case but hell, anything is worht a shot right now. Things I've tried (Nothing works) Fresh Sins Install Closing all Processes aside from what Windows won't let me close Lowering graphics and restarting fro
Isn't the 32bit OS RAM limit 4GB? I have 32bit Windows XP and 4GB of memory (Sins eating 1.8GB on Huge Random Map no matter what graphics setting) I havn't run into a single Minidump in a 23 hour game (9 Unfair AI's) considering that any Beta version of Sins if you sneezed at it wrong it minidumped you, it's kinda odd lol. Good job IC with that.
I get this issue too since Entrenchment, I play pretty much with recomended requirements, except I have a heap of RAM AMD Athlon64X2 4200+(2.2GHZ) GeForce8600GT(256MB) [Texture Quality settings: Planet: Highest, Ship: Highest,High,Medium, Structure: Same as ship] Doesn't seem to be a graphical thing though, turning to lowest and turning to highest maybe yields some performance increases in huge battles but other than that. 4GB of RAM (3.66G
The real reason people pirate is because Empires put bounty out on eachother. Seriously though, don't Pirate software, if you worked a 12 hour day and never got paid, would you go back to work?
Impulse is like Steam or Direct to Drive, you make an account and your games are tied to that account. So if you're HDD crashes, you can redownload it free of charge on your account. Of coures, you'd have to get Impulse again, which would take all of 41 seconds.
I notice this shit in Single player too not just MP (though it's definitely more noticable), the only difference is the AI doesn't get pissy and scream hax when you're playing right. Caps need a major overhaul in general, not just for the sake of MP, but for the sake of Capital ships being worth the crazy research cost and supply requirement. A very simple way to make them fairly worthwile would be eliminate the supply requirement. They already
Every 3000 Credits spent on bounty should give the Pirates a Capital ship. Already got an Idea. Most of the Pirate vessels are just modded and stripped (Usually of shields, dumbass pirates) TEC frigates and Cruisers. Considering that aside from the KOL the TEC got most of their military fleet from canibalizing Merchant ships it's reasonable to think the Pirates could have commandeered something other than a Kol or Sova, why not give the Pirates a Capital ship like a modded D
For how small the Ironclad team is, and how dedicated to the community they are, I always just assumed they were hyper-advanced game design cyborgs that developed sentient thought, and cyborgs don't need coffee. Or do they... I must warn the masses.
