I've found that High speed traditional Gaming HDD's are still faster than even the best SSD. Cheaper too. Boot time comparisons, I don't know, My Older clinker running on a 7200rpm Haitachi HDD boots from Power on to Ready to Go in a little under a minute. It is Windows XP tho. Generally, I wouldn't get a SSD, the technology is still fairly unproven, new and expensive. Given maybe 2 or 3 years I'm sure they will take out standard HDD, but until th

I am running 32 bit OS and it goes to 3.57GB so OS isn't the problem as a few have stated. It's entirely possible you got bad sticks. 1.Verifiy Compatibility 2.Verify the slots work (By testing your old RAM) If it's still only recognizing half the RAM is is what it looks like, You might have a bad stick. This is not uncommon at all. It could have been a manufacturing error, shipping damage, or damage while seating them in the PC.

Wrong. All PC's are for Elitists who think a machine makes them better than other people. I enjoy the GAMES not the PLATFORM. Yes, I will say that, Hardware willing PC games are vastly superior, at least visually, than Consoles. However, what it boils down to mostly is the UI. Some Genres are better worked than others with a mouse and keyboard. FPS and RTS will always be Mouse and Keyboard dominate, probably even after the invention of Subliminal controllers. But for that's a preferance. I pi

I modified the Galaxy manifest and got it to appear, but it doesn't seem like that's the optimal way of doing things yes? If that's the actual solution, my bad. But if there's a way to get them to appear in the Falaxy forge section where they belong I'm all ears(Or eyes, technically).

Since the last Sins Update a few months ago, my Galaxy forge maps havn't been showing up. Specifically they will not show up in Entrenchment, however, they will show up in Original Sins of a Solar Empire. They do not, however, show up in the "Galaxy Forge" Section in Sins of a Solar Empire (Vanilla) instead, showing up in the "Large Scenarios" this is probably because I saved a copy of the map in that Galaxy Directory. I've also put a test map in the Entrenchment Galaxy folder, but it w

Omitting any educational games (IE, Oregon Trail, even tho that game ROCKS) 1. Command and Conquer: TIberian Sun 1.5: Firestorm Expansion 2. Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2 2.5: Yuri's Revenge expansion' 3. The Elder Scrolls 3: Morriwnd (Greatest Game of All time in my Book) 3.5 Tribunal and Bloodmoon Expansions. 4. Final Fantasy XI Online. (And still play to this day, sadly lol)

Yah, I just got a sweet new card, but if the DRM is intense on Dragon Age: Origins, I'll deal with the Console fail and get on 360. Not too worried about it being Bad, Bioware is an extremely talented RPG developing company, and if Baldur's Gate is anything to go off, this is going to be the Depth of an MMO without the dipshits playing an MMO. Mass Effect 2, sadly, isn't coming out in 2009, Q1 2010 is the current Date set by Bioware, and since when are games relea

The U.S. stockpile of Nuclear Missiles is impervious to any outside influence. Trust me. There is no way to launch the missiles without the presence of the Launch codes. And about 50,000 Other failsafes the public isn't even aware of. Developing Nuclear nations (Iran, North Korea, ect) I cannot defend however, you can prolly make a phone call to drop an A.bomb (Granted, their delivery systems have very limited range)

This is impressive, of cousre I'm sure it'll be cracked quickly like all other modes of DRM, but the time, effort and risk to your hardware wouldn't be worth it. Overall, this seems like a great help to Developers while greatly limiting the burden to players, of course I'd have to get my hands on a GOO protected game first to make the call at how friendly it is, but seriously there is nowhere to go but forward with current DRM protection on games. And sadly it is

There seems to be a little more than meets the eye when it comes to AI-Player relations. I'm currently (Almost done) playing a Huge random map (Multi) against 9 Unfairs, and never once secured an alliance or even a trade partnership with them. The AI seems to react very negatively to aggressive expansion, in the very beginning, all the AI are FFA and will actively blow eachother up, usually however, because we know optimal unit/upgrade combonations, the player takes an empire adva

Unfair AI sitll won't research the Expirmental Weapons or the Max level of Capital ship cres (they stop I think at 10). At least Unfair Aggressor won't. As for ICO, if you want to simulate the experience without wasting an hour looking for a match, start a game vs. easy AI, then Surrender, Repeat about a dozen times. (This simulates Smurfs whoopin your ass) then start a match against an Unfair Aggressor, and about the 3rd or 4th planet, Hard Power down your PC (th

I'm going to have to disagree with your lack of confidence in the Marza Dreadnaught. Two of those beasts at level 6 (Which is fairly easy to do against the AI) can absolutely destroy any fleet imaginable with Missile Barrage. I've turned a fleet of roughly 1000 frigate and Higher class warships to a cloud of PC-crashing space debris with 2 marza dreadnoghts using Missile Barrage (Unfair AI). The Sova Carrier is the useless TEC ship, Avoid wasting fleet supply/capship crew at

Siege Frigate fleet supply should be reduced to a more competative level I think since after 1.0 Maybe somewhere in the 7-9 range, but over 10 seems to be way too much

Probably best to keep the online community at 2 different types. I can't say it'll work for sure, but in terms of what we know, obviously one community for every expansion will kill the game's online community as a whole, instead there should probably just be Vanilla and Full expansions communities. Optimally, all the expansions can exist online together, however, if a player without an expansion attempts to join an expansion game, they are not permited to join th

Kind of a quicky, wondering if (And if applicable how) to edit certain planet settings in the Galaxy Forge, settings like what planetary bonuses a planet can spawn with, how many and/or what type of resource asteroids spawn around planets, and how to set neutral colonies. I'm probably guessing that the resource asteroids are random and uncontrollable, but stuff like which planetary bonuses can spawn on what planets and the like would be great to know. My galaxies tend to make thin

Sins of a Solar Empire takes a long time to complete some (or most) games, so actually 99% of the time, someone who leaves too early isn't a pussy, they're just going to get some. (Only thing I can think of that gets me away from sins.) Seriously though, good point, the AI is by no means incompetent in Sins, and can hold its own if you leave it in a decent enough situation. And if nothing else, it's a distraction.

I did not know this was going to turn into an elitist flamewar. Probably another reason not many more people are serious PC gamers. I'm waiting for the GT250 anyway, drastically reduced power consumption, and there's a 1GB model, though I doubt I have any games that'll utilize that much, it's only about 20 bucks more so wtfr?

When all that fails, maxing out Temples of Communion on your front lines can make battles over before they start. An effective and SUPER irritating advent strategy I've used, is a Starbase, surrounded by 5-8 (Depending on Logistics slots available) Communion Temples, Which are then surrounded and mixed in with lots of defensive structures. This is irritating because even if the planet is bombed and you lose control, you still have seriously like a 50.0 Cultur rate spread and to ta
hats right.....99% of companies rate a PSU at its PEAK wattage, such as most 500W PSU are 500W peak output but really run closer to 450W continuous tapping into the other 50W when needed. PC Power is the only company that I know of (may be a couple others) that rates their PSUs at CONTINUOUS wattage. that 610W is 610W continuous, 670W peak.
90% of bad companies, you can find out the peak with simple calculation, I run away from any PSU so far
