can anyone help me? i am trying to make the adaptive shield ability able to be toggled on or off/ I would set it up so that while it was on, it would use x antimatter a second until antimatter is depleted, of i turn the ability off. I get a generl idea of what abilities and buffs are, and i can alter them with ease, but this is a major change i do not know how to do. can anyone take some time to help me out? Thanks!
it needs to be entityDefName "FrigatetechAlpha.entity" not entityDefName "FrigateTechAlpha" hope this solves your problem!

to you experienced modders out there....how do i find the amount of planet bombing the shield mitigates? it never tells me by how much the shield reduces damage. only that it does.
you need to look in the .entity file. the setiings for the entire planet infastructure are in the entity files(Logistic slots, tactical slots, ect...). Notepad works fine, but you need to make sure the .entity files are in text format.
forgetools and a text editor is all that is required for modding the text based stuff. you will need a 3d modeling application to make your own custom ship models and photoshop for textures

what exactly do they do? i think shield mitigation is something like the more fire taken, the less damage.....or something. Is armor similar? does it "harden" the hull so as more armor is added, more firepower is needed to do the same damage? how exacly does armor affect toughness of the hull?(does 1 point of armor increase toughness by 5% or something similar?) i appreciate the help!

What modeling and texture programs should i use for my own models? I have no idea where to start, and the forge tools documentation seems to assume i already have it figured out. I obviously don't. What programs do you modders use that would be easy/simple enough for a beginning model/texture creator like me?

i have created a new capital ship, but when i add it to the English.str file, and use my modded file, ALL text in the game becomes "string not found". if i replace the modded english.str file with the original file from the entrenchment folder under my programs and enable the mod, IT STILL IS ALL "STRING NOT FOUND"! every line of text, including the menu selections! disable mod, enable mod, singl player, multiplayer, quit....ect... all text is string not found! possibl

would setting cooldown time to 0 make it an infinite cooldown, or no cooldown? (just speculating...i have no clue)
hmmmmm........i am using the galaxymod-0.90b and it always crashes(no minidump) on me 3-6 minutes into the game i am using a perfectly clean install of sins entrenchment(latest), and no other mods but this one

well, at random points in the game, 2-3 minutes in, it just crashes. no minidump. it is your unchanged mod i am using. the changes i was refering to was changing the number of command points to the above ststed appropriate number, yet it still crashes with no minidump. i am out of ideas. i was trying to blend it with sins plus, and partialy suceeded, but then the crashes got too great and too frequent. i reverted back to your mod without my modifications, and it still crashes. i thought makin
i don't think its only frigates. i made the changes, and it still crashed. this is the most frustrating bug i have encountered.
