I managed to get a replay (vanilla, no expansions) for you of me vs the hard AI. It was a random small map, and I was the blue Advent player. Note that the hard difficulty AI actually cheats.
I watched your replay. How did you start with "quick start" enabled on a vanilla game with a random small map?

I'm pretty sure loading a game from the save game restarts the recording... A few things I noticed about your late game attempt. 1) You nearly had 3/4 of the planets colonized which is good However it was four hours into the game so not sure how you got to this point. 2) You favored Disciples (not so good). Disciples pretty much counter support units like carriers, healers, disablers, etc and thats it. The problem is the AI had hard counters to the Disciples (LF), 20 K
Here's another advent versus TEC. This is a 1v1 small random against a normal AI. Enjoy. http://www.filefront.com/15978853/1v1-Vanilla-MedRand-Normal.record
How would LOCKED teams affect play if it's a 1v1 scenario? And yes, I did turn pirates off.
They meant if you were playing more than 1v1 to make sure it is locked until you get a little better.
One of the things that concerns me is that there seems to be a "formula" that needs to be discovered in order to beat the game. It gives the impression that the game is scripted and there's only one way to beat it. What if my style is to out-research the AI in orde
This one is probably the closest to releasing sometime this year (maybe) with custom ships, etc. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177648 http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-last-stand
There were some comments in the "Battle Fleet Gothic" Mod thread about this and where to look. I would suggest reading there. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/332224/page/28
The relevant mods can be found in the modding section of this forum. There are several that stand out, and several that show good potential. I would definately look at the Star Wars, Stargate, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica and Distant Stars Mods. Several of these build on other mods that include new planet types, stars, graphics/effects enhancements, etc.
Not sure on that one. I believe this may be the correct home site for 7-Zip. http://www.7-zip.org/
where did you download it from?
I use 7-Zip to open files of this type. It's an opensource file archiver that will open multiple file types including RAR.
If I remember right, you will need a plugin for gimp, or else that was a different filetype .
You do need a plugin for the dds filetype. I don't think you need one for tga.
So you title your thread honesty and then rip on a game that you for all intents and purposes pirated. I will agree with pbhead on this, please go away (unless you join the rest of us who have actually purchased the game)...
for those who like visuals...
Researching Meteroid Control gives the Transcencia Star Base both Meteor Storm and Final Judgement. Final Judgement damages planet health and population.
Does that mean hold alt while clicking on the ship-type I want?
Yes, simply hold the alt key while left clicking on a specific unit either in the gravity wel or in the empire tree.
How useful are fleets? I tried them but its annoying when all new ships automatically join the fleet.
I tried using fleets when I first started, frankly I don't find them very useful now. I prefer setting my frigates and capitals to either
What does LRF stand for?
Long Range Frigate = TEC LRM, Illuminator or Assailant Here's a couple more tips: Learn to use alt+[select unit type], this will select all units of the same type such as all bombers in the gravity well. Learn to use shift+click to stack multiple commands. For example after alt+[select fighters], shift+click to attack the siege frigate, then shift+click to attack LRM1, 2, etc. This can be performed zoomed into the grav we

I would love to have the ability to disable a research path but I'm pretty sure the prerequisites only stipulate what must be researched not what can't be researched. I'm assuming you are asking the following Research A - ResearchPrerequisite is not ResearchB Research B - ResearchPrerequisite is not ResearchA Which means if Research A's path is followed then I would not be able to Research B or any research that has B as a research prerequisite.
Volt, in regards to GRG I like the idea of adding a better debuff, but I think it should fit with what already exists for the TEC Gauss technologies. If you look at the TEC defense turrents, the Rail Gun upgrade for the Gauss Defense turrents adds a -3 armor debuff to the target. I like the idea of extending this or some variation to GRG which would turn it into a nice fleet support when accompanied with LRM's or Heavies. I also agree the to Faulty options are really bad. Two Kols wit
Yes, with entrenchment or diplomacy a Starbase may be necessary to extend a trade port line through a star, asteroid belt, dead asteroid, etc. Basically anything you can build a starbase in that does not have logistics slots available to build a trade port. Note, TEC does have reseearch to add 4 additional logistics slots to planets which does allow them to add a trade port to dead asteroids.
I also include a dc invertor in case I get caught on a long rode trip or need to recharge between locations. I also purchased a mifi for mobile wireless. It's a great device that allows up to 5 computers to connect to the wireless broadband connection. Great when you have peers that don't have their own wireless broadband yet and there is not available hotspot. It does have a battery for a few hours of unplugged use, but don't forget your charger for it too.
The ship is the Stilakus Subverters which is the arrow looking thing in the empire tree. They have two abilities, the first is a weakening of enemy shields, greatly lowering their shield mitigation and making them more easily bypassed by phase missiles; the other is the ability to create a distortion field within the gravity well to perform an in-grav phase jump, teleporting it towards an enemy target before it channels a disabling field of energy. The teleport disable ability wo

You actually can't add the trade port to C even after setup up B-A-E-F-G-H-D. The trade port line will recalculate if you do this.
