The thing you have to realize, is that if they did make it "true" 3D, who would play that? I mean sure, it's realistic (and i'd love to see it). But now, rather than rotating your map around to get a better viewing angle, etc....anything can go anywhere. As it stands now (if you had 3D available), you could hide an entire fleet underneath a star and nobody would know a thing....well, other than the player-icons that show through objects). All i'm saying, is t

Sins plays very well for me at 1680 x 1050. So does Rainbow 6 Vegas. So does Call of Duty 4. Splinter Cell Double Agent i haven't played so i'm not sure. And Madden 07, Tiger Woods 07, and all of the other retarded sports games don't matter, as they suck and should all be on consoles anyway [e digicons]*_*[/e]

Well apparently i can't record games... Unless pausing in game will stop the recording. Oh well, those tips above have been awesome so far. I think what i've been doing at least on a decent small-large sized map where i'm not crammed up against players... 2x imperial research facilities. Grab research to take over Volcanic / Frozen planets (depending on which i encounter first). Research Assailants. Research the M
I would have suggested you keep the 8800GT and cut a hole in the side of the case for a Fan to cool the Video Card, possibly another hole somewhere else for another Fan. However I can't find any pictures of the case open so I can see what's inside. Cheers; Snarl
Well, like i said, the machine is an HP (Hewlet-packard), so if there were ever any issues with it i'd have to ret

So i bought this HP Pavilion Elite m9500f after my previous rig that i built myself died after 6 years (it went through a lot of upgrades, but finally one day the power supply fan had two blades snap, get stuck in the grill of the fan itself, which stopped the fan from spinning, which overheated the PSU, which then made toast out of most of my hardware). I live in Japan so it's usually a hassle to get good quality parts: i either have to order them and have them mailed here from the USA

I could have sworn that it had a 64 bit version out. I never looked into it, and just assumed it did, since my installation of Impulse went to C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Impulse and not to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Impulse. Then again, i could be wrong.
Quoting JonBrave, reply 4 sorry, i don't understand that bit? What he's hinting at is that even though you might have the crew extractor ability on autocast, a scouting scout (awesome phrase) won't have any AM left to cast it and thus just flies by. So if you want them to grab it you'll have to at least watch them from time to time, disable autoscout and fly them back to the wells with extractors.
Yea, i tend to scrap the cap yards, and since i'm still a little new at things, i tend to let the Scout ships grab the extractors automatically when they find them. I've been grabbing planets and then asteroids, so that's something i can start working on. I think you pointed out what one of my major flaws are, and that's the tactical upgrades on planets. I never really know when i'm going to be bale to expand so i tend to build hangers along the way (at leas

I've only been playing a few days, 2 or 3 of those online with very little success in survival. I find it very hard to decide what route to go for tech trees when starting a game. Regardless of which one you want, you still need resources for it (which mainly comes down to crystals as far as i'm concerned, as i never have enough of those for some reason). So i basically have two questions: What do you normally do for a good econ start in each game?</p

I read a post last week when i bought the game, that they would send in a few ships, take and cap the pirate base, then leave....and the turrets wouldn't attack the base, but they would attack anyone flying in there (even you, so just be careful). While i haven't tried this myself, that's pretty awesome...a pre-fortified city...you just have to not die while attempting to take it.

Fox, I believe as far as "talking" with pirates, it's through credits only. The black market is handy (although i suck at starting an economy until late game and i'm still learning, so i could be wrong). With the black market, you can just buy/sell any metal/crystals you might need. However, another cool thing is that you can undercut the black market's going price for goods. So if the AI is selling at 480 per 100 crystal, and someone else is selling a

I'm not sure about what mod your talking about to improve screenshot graphics, but i used some self-written software to convert from bmp to jpg (or any type to any type for that matter). It still sucks that you can't just have it optioned like that in-game :(

As a new player having a bit of trouble starting off, i'd love to see some 1v1 or 2v2. I've mainly started with Vassari, although i hear from a lot of people that maybe i should have gone TEC to "learn" the game first. Then again, hoomans are scrubs [e digicons]>_>[/e] I did try Advent in one MP game tonight with another player "feeding" me (not a ton, but a decent amount), and i had a really nice fleet going (albeit i had no earthly idea of what i

Just a quick tip for anyone else reading this...i made a "screenshots" post a few days ago about the same thing. I'm using Vista, and i didnt have a screenshots folder. However, i used CTRL SHIFT TAB to go to windowed mode, and it took a screenshot with PRINT SCR after that...but only in windowed mode (not in full mode). I'm not sure what the deal was, so i remapped the screenshot key to CTRL SHIFT S (so i can just CTRL SHIFT Z to hide the HUD and S to take the pictu

just a quick note, GuyWhoYouDontNo... I recently had to purchase new hard drives for my computer, due to them having some drive errors and whatnot. I also pulled out some old USB external drives that didn't work anymore, but that had pictures of my daughter when she was born 3 1/2 months premature (she's 3 years old now, but it was our first child after two miscarriages, so we REALLY wanted those pictures back). I used http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk, since it's

I'm suprised this thread is still going. Silly Impulse haters. Finally got to install the game, and within 15 minutes i was playing, mainly due to Impulse delivering the updates hella fast. I mean, I've been playing Neverwinter Nights, Mask of the Betrayer (expansion), and Storm of Zehir (expansion) for the past month, and the month before that as well. Why two months, you ask? Oh, because my power supply fan busted (two fan blades just happened to randomly "sn

Anyone know of a setting in an ini file or something of the sort to change screenshots saving as .BMP to something else, like .PNG, .TIF, .JPEG, etc? I open my screenshots folder (now that i finally got it to work), and it's all fuzzy and pixelated...definitely not what i was viewing on screen, and i suspect it's due to the file type (as bitmaps don't support "awesomeness" in pictures, if memory serves). So, ideas?

I bought this game when it first came out, but sadly was unable to run it. I recently decided to rebuild all the pc's in the house, and the first thing in my mind is "i want it to be able to play Sins, damnit!". Three days into playing the game, and i can't put it down. Admittedly, it seems that online games are slim to none when i'm able to actually get on (and due to me having a low total fight, win, loss count numbering in the single digits, a lot o

Well nevermined, i bound screenshots to CTRL + SHIFT + S seeing as how i hit CTRL + SHIFT + Z to remove the HUD for the screenshot. This ended up working fine. It must have been a mix up between the game and the OS about who got to play with the button first :)

8 Replies 4,457 Views

Well i just managed to take one screenshot that actually worked. I was looking in the keybinds to see maybe if it wasn't bound, and i noticed that CTRL + SHIFT + TAB will go to windowed mode, so i could just sit there mashing the button until i see a picture. Anyhow, i got a screenshot, but it ONLY takes them in windowed mode. The game resolution matches my desktop resolution, so even if it were "screen size too large" error of some sort, they match >.>

8 Replies 4,457 Views

Nope, there was no message for it. Just the normal "fps drop due to in-game screenshot", but no visual confirmation in game to whether or not i actually took it.

Haha Mooster! Thanks for the reply, but i have taken at least around 30 or so screenshots (first game ran just under 8 hours, and the game is very stunning so...heheh, every new craft/planet i ran into had it's picture taken). I just can't find the folder where they're saved to. I hit Print Screen, and the game lags up for just a sec while it takes the picture, and then thats it.
