So i decided to self-indulge myself and got new CPU after all, although i bought my current rig (X99, i7 6850k 6-core CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, 2x GTX 1080, etc...) in its entirety just about year ago. The choice fell on i9 in the end, at the expense of Threadripper, more specifically 14-core i9 7940x.... https://imgur.com/a/l3fFV I got it alongside the new mobo obviously, Gigabyte X299 Aorus Gaming 7, and on top of these superior water coolin
The most mindblowing shows of this year, as for me, is GoT 7, Stranger Things 2 and Mindhunter. The shows keep getting better and better.
No clue about Mindhunter, gotta check it out. But totally agreed about GoT and Stranger Things 2 is on my list, right after i finish at least one of the trio ST:Discovery, Designated Survivor season 2 and Sense8 season 2!

Nah, it was not that great. Despite their claim this to be set in Prime universe, it actually felt like another JJ-Trek. Acting was not great either and the special effects above movie? With all the crappy blurred backgrounds and camera looking into some light source every 5 seconds? Compared to say Rogue One effects this was pretty weak. Will continue to watch further though, it still can be good.

Regarding modding support, i recall reading a post from Draginol, where he says the modding tools should turn Ashes into Nitrous based platform for creating your own strategy games - even space based for example if you wish. I wonder why this is not made into actual product, one you would pay for, StarDock´s own RTS Creator. Pretty much what Sins modding tools were, letting you to import your own models, create your own units with their properties, made your own tech structure/

Time to update this thread with more stuff i watched since my previous post, 2017 edition! Expanse - 2nd season - it was awesome, as expected. I would guess i prefered the first season more, but that one sort of caught me not prepared, i had no previous info about it. Now, i read the books, so i knew what was going to happen, so the moment of surprise was gone. That is simply going to take away bit of fun, no way around it. Still, highly recomme

You can count on me watching it[e digicons]:D[/e] . I am curious about those reimagined Klingons, i wonder how are they going to explain the clear visual differences against the original shows, when they claim its supposed to be set in the "Prime" universe. Personally, i call BS. Either the explanation will turn out total crap, or even more likely, there wont be any explanation at all. But we shall see. Ultimately, as long as it will be good, i wont really care either w
Between FPS, RTS, racing and sports games you have mentioned a wide variety. I am alittle surprised there are no tactics games among them. I got Sunless Sea, too, put some hours ino it, but it allways feels like 'those apples you just can't reach'. It was interesting, but I didn't quite like it. So if you want to check that genre out, I can suggest the two more recent XCOM titles (the newer of which will shortly get an ad

This is a rant topic... I find myself really yearning for a game that would provide some kind of longer term fun and excitement... pretty much only game i played lately was Battlefield 1 and even that one i would not consider superb or anything (bar graphics, that part of it is superb indeed). I can usually play it for 1 hour max before i get bored, but at least, i keep return to it. I am looking at new Call of Duty, i guess that one might be bring me slightly more fun, as historicall

So what are your feelings about latest iPhone? Personally, i would indeed like to have it, it looks mighty fine. Would take it over iPhone 8 for sure, which now looks pretty obsolete. That price though - 1200 EUROs over here... i still use iPhone 5S, which i bought 3 years ago and it cost me 830 EUROs. Already that was expensive...now 3 years later, another 400 more? Where does this end?
I have just sprung big bucks for an Intel i9 with a Gigabyte x299 gaming 9 motherboard, 64 GB of 2666Mhz RAM, 2 Samsung 960 Pro 1 TB SSD's (in RAID 0, for a 2TB drive at twice the speed, and in M.2 slots, a newish higher speed bus), and an adequate graphics card (GTX 1050). It will be used for a DAW (digital audio workstation). 64GB of RAM is insane unless you work with high resolution audio (or video, especially). For example, one of my p

Anyone of the resident HW enthusiasts going to upgrade to upcoming AMD Threadripper or Intel i9? If yes, which one are you looking at? Personally, i was thinking about sticking to my last year´s setup with 6-core Intel CPU, but the upgrade bug gets stronger the more i read about it :-D Now i consider getting the CPU and new mobo and switching just 2 of those for my current ones, keeping the rest of the rig the same - which i think should be no issue. I will probably go Intel way
Quoting Timmaigh, reply 4 I guess the game is moddable enough that you can probably make even ground units move without any terrain underneath, but that could be perhaps more complicated thing, requiring even scripting? I would not know. With air units though, it would be pretty

Thank you again! I checked those vids before, pretty much all the relevant ones, so i had already a certain picture in my head. Regarding the space, air units and Z-axis, i did not really had that in mind (z-axis), although it would be nice if my units/starships could move not on the exactly same plane - just for aesthetical reasons. Since i saw StarBattle, i assumed if i wanted space based game (without any terrain), i would need to base my mod on air units, as these

Thanks your your response. ZuPloed. I checked those sites you provided and some others and i am starting to get more complete picture. OFC i wont know many things for sure, until i try them on my own, but i am starting to be fairly sure of one thing - as you suggested, i am gonna need help, cause doing it all myself would be way too much, even if i was capable doing it all (which i doubt - if there is any scripting needed, i am toast). Ideally, i would need to find someone, who could

Is there anyone over here, who has insight into modding StarCraft 2 or even better some experience with it? Someone who knows, how to do certain things, what is possible and what is not, what exactly is needed, if one wants to give it a try, given the fact StarCraft 2 was actually released in 3 parts, etc... I have personal ambition/dream to build "simple" RTS game set in Star Trek universe in my free time. Since i cant code, i can at best only hope to mod something. Not to mention, e

If Sins 2 is not on the cards yet, how about another content addition to Rebellion? While i would love completely new game, honestly even if it was just remake of Rebellion on the Nitrous engine with better graphics, i would be fine with just another iteration of the original game as well. Surely letting the game using twice as much RAM as before + all these late game optimizations opened the space for more content from devs themselves, i mean more than 18MB of better textures?

20 Replies 268,464 Views

Well. if i remember correctly, today its exactly 5 years since the Rebellion was released - although only in its beta state with just TEC factions initially. That said, after 5 years it would be nice if we finally heard something more official and less vague on topic of potential sequel. My body is ready. Thank you!
Ok, so there has been talk about Ashes receiving a dlc/update with naval units. While this is a cool idea, a bunch of questions comes up as a result of it. Lets start with the first question. Why have naval specific units when all of the units in the game can hover? If units can hover, land or naval units could technically traverse both domains. So if the game does add naval specific units, how do yo
