Thanks for all your responses and suggestions. Regarding Jewish stuff, please let it go. Jews are not responsible for canning good sci-fi shows, period. At best there are inidividual persons of Jewish origin/heritage, who may or may not be blamed for that, but there is no Jewish conspiracy to f*ck us sci-fi fans up by cancelling every decent sci-fi show Thats all i will say on the subject.</
Timmaigh
So for the last year and so i used to watch few sci-fi shows, but all of them with exception of Fringe ended up cancelled. Some of them i did not considered to be that great (V 2009, SGU), so i do not regret it that much, although both shows had potential and i would continue to watch them if they kept making them. Flash Forward on other hand, i was really pissed to see that one to be canned, really like that show. Some people might abject, it had logical fallacies, the level of acting was lo
Because those two things would require a major engine overhaul which would take years to complete.
This is indeed acceptable answer, but i wonder, will "the major engine overhaul" take less, if you start doing it in 2013 or 2014? I suppose you´ll need to do it at some point, or no?
New official site for Gemini Wars was launched today, alongside new gameplay video: Enjoy!

Personally, i am for scaling the game bit down, when it comes to Sins 2, similar to what Supreme Commander 2 did compared to SupCom 1. Its still a big scale game compared to likes of StarCraft 2, but you do not need to be constantly zoomed to orbit and actually enjoy the eyecandy. I completely agree with PBHead regarding the relation between scale and repetitiveness... its definitely true, more systems means more of the boring stuff to do. I enjoyed old Conquest Frontier Wars tremendo

I concur with recommendation of Dark Crusade and from older games Command and Conquer Generals:Zero Hour, C&C3 and Red Alert 3, theyre not bad games, although i would say really good is only the oldest of the lot, Zero Hour. Anyway i am bit disappointed with the recent RTSes, on one hand i have to say, they really progressed as far as the features go (zoom and grandscale, suppression fire, etc...), but they lack the WOW effect for me, some gameplay element or unit or faction, some
Ok guys, just played 2 games again with my buddy, took your advices and played the macro game the way it probably has to be played and we finally won! I even built mothership, the cloaking effect is really cool. Anyway though my points regarding the game stand, i admit now, as i got bit deeper and managed my eco going, it was really nice watching the zealots coming out of the gateways one after one, finally i got THAT feeling i expect from RTS and it was not initially there.
lol Timmaigh. You're being SOOOOOOOO critical of a game you haven't even learned how to play yet. Unit control is very important as is the unit compostition within your army, the positioning of the army and using the special abilities of your units. Its not all about base building and macro, its about both at the same time. I'm not sure why you keep talking about how limited and small the army sizes are in SCII. Have you ever gotte
When you're starting out, it's actually recommended to NOT focus on the battle. The important skill to develop is the macro (which you defined correctly), which generally means you can have more units than the other guy, and his fancy unit control won't mean anything. There's of course also knowing when is a good time to attack and when isn't Reaction time is important in battle since, yes, units do die quickl
Played the old SC since practically forever. Tim, I understand your frustration. SC 2 like SC is tuned for esports competition. Thus it requires much study and even more practice. It is in the very hard category. Maybe harder than that. SC 2 is the Tour de France racer of online RTS competition. No comfort bike for casual rides. Bottom line is this. Do your first impressions convince you that this is the way you want to spend your
I felt I should post this as your impression of SC2 is no doubt brought about by your naivete and lack of experience with the game and I don't want this to put off new players. Your view and opinions are more than understandable though as SC2 is probably the hardest online game I've ever played. To be honest, SC2 is the finest example of a competitive RTS in existence. That is no understatement.<
The great thing about the links in my other post Tim is that they aren't just replays, they're VOD's, which is basically a guy commentating the game as it's played. Day9 also does special VOD's which are solely aimed at turning people into better gamers! They're often pretty analytical and in depth, but in a good way. If you just want to watch games for fun and to see how teh pro's play though,
Well, SC2 is a competitive game. Every race has a macro ability that requires good usage (admittedly, Terran's is the easiest). Chronoboost is both a measure of balance and a means to develop your own strategy/build. In some cases, you need a really fast Sentry to forcefield your ramp. In other cases, you need a really fast Warpgate research so you chronoboost that. In yet other cases, you just want to get more probes faster. Yo
Uh, which one, sorry i am at work, so i might skip something, i will read all the posts properly, when i get back home. Anyway thank you all for the advices. It seems this is really a game, which needs to be played lot to be at least decent, and i am not sure yet, if i like it enough to play it so much or download and watch those replays. This will come naturally, if ill play the game in a month or 2, then i probably overcame those issues i have with it. @Annatar: yes Protoss are my r
DOW2 is a much better game IMO.
Did not play it, but i believe you. I liked DoW1 much more than SC so far. I know that DoW2 is kind of different, with less base building.

Def get one...you won't regret it!
Ive got 2 of them, one for OS + apps, second for games and theyre indeed brilliant, so i concur with the recommendation. When it comes to the wear leveling and maximum number of writes, there is absolutely no need to worry with this. I have In
Sounds like you need to spend some time learning about how the game is played in the multiplayer setting. There is a TON of strategy in this game there's just a learning curve to executing it. You need to learn to use hotkeys, scout, execute build orders properly as well as transition out of opening builds, micro and macro manage at the same time and counter various unit compositions and strategies. It might sound like a lot but once you l
I think your expectations were off. Starcraft 2 is very much like Starcraft 1. It's meant to be a competitive, fast paced game. It's far and away the best RTS for competitive gaming. If you were looking for a slower more expansive style of game (like Sins), then you got burned by bad expectations. I also don't agree about the campaign. I loved the SC2 campaign and found it to be one of the best I've seen
I never did understand the necessity of building so many production facilities, when in most other strategy games known to man, that isn't generally necessary. It's really pretty straightforward. You need to always be spending your money. Any money that's "saved up" is (usually) wasted because it's not a unit/building in the field doing stuff. As you expand and mine more, you make more money and can thus support constan
I played only with my buddy (who convinced me to buy the game. so we´ll play it together) against 2 AIs so far. I am not the one for playing campaigns in RTS, unless the game is called Homeworld :-D But i might give it a chance cause of those CGI sequences. Still i am disappointed and i do not think this feeling will change, when ill have more matches under my belt...the ingame mechanics are simply all wrong in my opinion. We just talked about it with him about yesterdays
Starcraft isn't primarily about unit control. Unit control can win or lose you the game, but it's not the most important aspect. If you don't like that, then you won't like the game.
So isnt Sins, and i like Sins pretty much.
and honestly, i fail to see all the hype it gets. I admit although i played lot of RTSes in my gaming "career" and love the genre, i am not very good player, i tend to do probably better on Call of Duty, which i played a lot for the majority of the last year, or sports games (football, ice hockey) which i always played a lot. Anyway after playing Sins or SupCom SC2 feels like the relevation from the past... you cant zoom and your average armies consist of 10 units at best... hardly a
I do not see anything bad about it. I did the same for Gemini Wars. If you genuinely think, the game is really good (or going to be really good), its natural you want to tell other people about it... at least you support the developers this way by spreading the word. If you really believe its deserved and you do not do this for money, its nothing wrong with it. BTW i checked the game and it looks interesting, but apparently its a variation on tower defense games, right? I am not sure
