If you want to take out tanks, you use anti-tank guns (or a TOW on the back of a HMMWV), you only use soldiers with AT weapons as a last resort or if you are entrenched. Infantry based AT weapons do not work on the offensive against tanks. That, and I thought standard infantry dotrine was to avoid engaging tanks anywhere but in a city, where the terrain is to your advanage. On a plain - very similar to deep space for the purposes of the analogy - you'll get slaughtered becau

I see it now. Normally, 100% of damage is reduced by 60% (etc.) due to mitigation, but with phase missiles 30% of damage goes straight to the hull while the remaining 70% of damage is mitigated by 60% (etc.) and is then applied to the craft's shields (or hull if it has no shields). Hence, you actually 30% of total damage plus 60% of the remaining 70% of damage, rather than straight up 40% of the damage - I knew they weren't worthless! Gj Deceiver :) [e

Hmm...nevermind, it works now. Loving all these replays (and I just realised how to pause them - open the menu *facepalm*).

Top Vasari, your latest version gives me a minidump. Considering I'm running a clean version of Entrenchment V1.041 you couldn't think of a reason why could you? You don't have the diplomacy beta or something? (I first got a hint it wasn't working when people started chatting about a suicide SB that didn't exist!)

If I'm using fighters myself my fleet will probably be comprised of less fighter vunerable units (like HC) and/or Hoshikos to the point at which the fighters' ability to effectively damage my units is moot. If both of us are using fighter heavy strategies, well, time to switch tactics to lf :)

First point I agree with, both for diversity and the fact that the thing fighters are most designed to counter - bombers - DON'T HAVE ANY SHIELDS! Second point - I don't really play the Vasari so I can hardly comment - I know that the Wave upgrade needs to be shuffled back a bit (and give fighters wave guns rather than pulse guns perhaps?) to become useful. Don't know about the point bombardment though.
flak spam will bring down the fighter spam
And then the everything-else spam will bring down the flak spam because all they can do is sit there and go "pew! pew! pew!" with their otherwise pathetic cannons/phase missiles. At least with fighters you can convert them to bombers once their task as fighters is complete (fighters kill fleet, then switch to bombers to mop up the structures/starbase). As for specific situations, if fighting Adve

^You'll probably find that the two discounts combined come out to the same price as the pack. If the pack were discounted the seller would do themselves out of the money they would get from the new people who decide to pick up both together cheaper than bying them seperately. Etc. Might get GUN. How long does this sale go for? (I'm in Australia, so all I know about thanksgiving is that the President pardons a turkey!)

Only the Iluminator has that kind of hp/shield ratio. That said, I can't really see a flaw with your mathematics so, my guess is simply that your hypothetical situation is so far removed from actual Sins situations that it is producing flawed results. Also, 1v1 ship battles are truly rare in Sins. Meh. Ninja'd by Ryat the Sins mathematician. Honestly, most of this stuff is just way too numbery for me. My approach is"X kills Y. Therefo

The man has a point. Morally questionable actions aside, he should have at least been told he was banned/gagged/whatever, rather that just being left in the dark. Its like that person in Australia who was arrested for driving on a suspended licence. Why had it been suspended? He failed to vote in a local election and so his licence was quietly revoked, ending in a big mess when he finally found out. The connection between the crime and the punishment is far more

Ignoring the above post, yes, it does take longer to transit accross a stars grav-well than that of a planet. This is mostly because the star and its grav well are considerably larger, but as n00binator said, your ships slow down when traveling away from a star (for me, they seem to slow down all the time :( pesky things!) and speed up when approaching it. On the plus side however, that star does restore the antimatter of your ships much faster than usual, so take advantage of tha

Theoretically this is an exploit - it allows you to avoid building the other extractors - but a very bad one. Kind of like being able to shoot yourself in the foot in a FPS; you shouldn't be able to do it, but doing it is REALLY pointless anyway. Wouldn't worry about it. Thanks for mentioning it though (even though we know why it was never mentioned before!).

Please, enough of the caps. Don't we have Sins wiki somewhere? That should tell you all you need to know - if not there is a million threads around here that should help. Love the AAR Crusader, although, why isn't the fan submissions page accessable from the main forums? Can that happen please, I like reading stuff like this but because no-one can see the forum its so rarely used...please?
where do kids get so much money from?
They don't get any money, they just spend the bank's. That's what caused our good friend the GFC - consumerism isn't all roses it seems. At least the situation in Australia is better than America, where it seems to have created a culture of spending from the cradle to the grave - child targeted advertising and all that - urgh.

I think the main reason why nudity seems to be so much more restricted in videogames than violence is, is because its damn near impossible to may nudity "comic" so to speak. The fact is, violence often requires detail to appear in any way similar to the real thing - gore, blood splatter, bone fragments etc. - and it's only recently that computers have had the power and capability to represent such details. Still, its not 100% realistic, you would need huge a

To make a point though, what was said site? Although if this is a legitimate manouver it will certainly work up to a point - there will always be those people who refuse to pay, but I suppose this helps stem the bleeding. Of course that whole situation would have never occured with a similtaneous worldwide release :) which publishers seem so allergic to these days.

You sure you have enough Dunovs there? I usually take out the Pirates when their base has too many phase lanes leading toward my empire. I like to keep a clear and consistent front without having to slap down pirate incursions on half a dozen planets nowhere near said front.

I'm guessing you were playing on all fast - which is twice as fast as normal Sins fast. I got caught out by it too the first time I played (SP). It was like "what? My economy is thriving?" (I usually break my economy the first few minutes int for some reason...) so yeah, watch out for that. I haven't played on slow or normal speeds yet though, so I may just be gabbling rubbish... EDIT: Nvm, Carbon ninja'd me...
Bah! Aussies are predominantly Windows users and one of Microsoft's better markets... yet we are snubbed, given the bums rush and neglected.
I'd get used to that. It's what comes from living in a rather isolated western country where our nearest neigbours are a 3rd world country and a state composed mostly of sheep. We're getting away from that, but I wouldn't expect change any time soon.

That is an absolute mess! Just by the standard game - I suspect within a week you'll be able to get everthing on e-bay anyway. Certainly better than trying to decipher that obscure collection of offers. Thankfully this seemes to be the worst offense against "exclusive content", however, I'd brace for even more rediculous setups in future. *shivers*

I'll play...If someone could tell me what 10-11 EST is in Australian time (we're GMT + 11:00 currently). The mod is great...well, apart from the small problem of me choking on the sheer awsomeness! But yeah. I'm up for a game. Would be nice to play an opponent who doesn't cheat...or tell me his every move in advance: AI: I suggest you evecuate planet X...now. Yeah, I play PR - under this alias. Its good, team based fun. People actually used the VOIP system which, outside of Project Reality I have only seen (heard?) it used once. Sure, you can get some bad rounds, especially from the afformention "00h l33t ch0p3rz" people who jump into said helicopter, fail to let the engine warm up, and roll the thing. Then your without a helicopter - which is a really cool asset to see around, even if your nowhere near it - and probably st
